There was a comic, I think by IDW, that covered several of the Toho monsters. One of which was Mothra. In it, a cop went to Mothra's island and kidnapped the faeries to get Mothra's help fighting the Yakuza. Mothra has an (undeserved) reputation for being weak and ineffective. Here's the thing. Mothra isn't the strongest Kaiju, but she's still a Kaiju. Mothra, under the direction of the cop (the faeries were wholly against the plan, but once it was explained what was being asked, Mothra was onboard with the idea) pretty much lays waste to Japan and brings the Yakuza to their knees.
So yeah, don't diss the bug. As a matter of fact, it's either Mothra or King Ghidorah that holds the record of the most wins against Godzilla. Of all his friends and foes, Mothra is one of the few on Big G's level.

Tri Dinh Actually no. She doesn’t. She only has 1 official win. Her larva don’t count. Mothra never beat Godzilla outside of GvM 1992. In GMK and Tokyo SOS, Godzilla destroyed her. And in the prequel novel to the Godzilla anime, he kills Mothra. And in comics, he killed her or beat her ass.

You got one thing wrong: The military kept it secret that they didn't do anything about Godzilla and that he was defeated by chemical weapons. The military was pretty much useless and they were embarassed to admit that, so they lied.
You know it's actually pretty funny whenever you say it like that I've not heard it this way before and I think I actually like it this way.

They didn’t cover up the Godzilla attack, just how it originally died. They claimed the JSDF killed it in 1954, rather than Serizawa and the Oxygen Destroyer

The reason the crew on the boat wear those goofy clothes all the time is because of military law and rules.
they do it in real life when on active duty:
you aren't allowed to take your flotation device off at anytime for any reason while the boat is in use,if you do and get caught, you're punished.

It still bothers me that Baragon doesn't use his Fire Breath on Godzilla. I mean he had that power in Frankenstien Conquers the World.
Some kaiju like Mothra loses and gains new powers example.In her showa series she has hurricane winds able to push other kaiju and break buildings.Afterwards towards the heisei series(Gmk and rom)she loses her hurricane and wind powers,but gains some new ones.The heisei gets thunder and beams from her antennas,in addition her powder is now reflective instead of poisonous.Rom also has these.The gmk mothra loses many abilities but gets poisonous darts?And then The S.O.S and final wars mothra has reflective powder again,and the final wars mothra can become fire mothra somehow.
and then legendary shows up and basically strips every ability and doesn’t really give her anything new to make her a melee fighter,.. I never did understand this change, no wonder why Rodan was winning here (even if he also got nerfed too)
they did that purposely to depower him so that he wouldn't be as powerful as Godzilla
@@marlonclark1896 Just because Baragon has a Fire Breath attack, doesn't mean he can beat Godzilla. I just think it would have given Baragon a fighting chance, since the playing field would be more even.

Actually fun fact "Godzilla vs distroyah" was originals gonna be "Godzilla vs ghost Godzilla" and the ghost of the 54 Godzilla would kill the current one. It was scrapped bacause Toho felt having a third Godzilla v Godzilla in a row would be overkill (mechagodzilla, space Godzilla)

Also, fun fact: Mothra and Ghidorah's roles here were originally gonna go to Anguirus and Varan respectively (the designer even put some of Varan's features into Ghidorah's faces), but Toho didn't think they were marketable enough. Which is sad, because both of them deserve more love.
I think the reason Godzilla always attacks japan is because when they woke him up with the nuke, Godzilla might have knew the people were Japanese, and he's giving them a piece of his mind by attacking japan.

Just recently saw this movie along with "Godzilla against Mechagodzilla" and both were awesome.

The two twin girls don't appear but when Mothra is flying towards Godzilla the camera zooms in on 2 twins whom gaze at her. They are the placeholders I suppose.

King Ghidorah as a hero makes sense at least to me. This is an alternate timeline. And also the KG design in this movie is amazing!!

That was the most funny moment in a Godzilla Movie.
Oh and an other thing: They also brought the twins in the movie in the German Version. (Actually they only were two siblings that looked to Mothra from a Market Place and yes they were played by the actors from the earlier siblings.)

One thing I never got about this movie is, why did they use Baragon instead of Anguirus who actually had a connection to Godzilla?
I don't mind that they made Ghidorah a good guy in this movie. However, I do kinda mind that they made him so weak compared to Godzilla. He didn't have to be stronger, but they could've atleast made him and Godzilla evenly matched.
Godzilla is the one who puts the butts in the theater seats, so he's always going to be stronger than his opponents.
I was surprised that they didn't have Baragon breath fire.

Good point. Though, I would have loved to have seen Godzilla stomach deflate as he uses his Atomic Ray more and more throughout the course of the movie. That way it would look like he's releasing most of the gas that he's building up.
I'd like to add, I think what he meant by covering it up was not Godzilla himself, but the fact the Military didn't defeat godzilla and that it was the Oxygen Destroyer who killed it

I agree with the point about King Ghidorah, very strange seeing him as a hero. My personal preference would have been King Caesar as he’s pretty much already a guardian monster in Godzilla vs Mechagodzilla. I would also possibly have replaced Baragon with Anguiras.

Ghidorah, saving earth, something I thought I’d never hear
and need i point out, this is the first Godzilla movie where we see the bodycount being dolled out. yeah, we had that in 1954, but they cut away from that thanks to the special effects of the time, and there was that former army guy in Godzilla vs King Ghidorah 1991, but this movie... you see people get hurt and die in this one. the house being crushed, the boat, the girl in the hospital (who i just now realized is the survivor from the house being stomped), the military during the final battle. you see people actually get blasted, stomped, crushed, and... did Baragon eat that guy in the prison and Mothra on the beach? well, i'm gonna include it anyway- eaten. It's like Godzilla is a slasher villain.

Godzilla’s heartbeat has been haunting me since I was a child, and it still terrifies me. There’s just something about it, I don’t know how to describe it…it’s just so unnerving and scary to me to the point I just have to skip that part when I watch the movie.

@@eugenesaban3121 This was three years ago so I'm not certain what I was thinking, but I'm pretty sure I was making a joke based off the phrase "London is my city". Where ever is was that I was looking that phrase was weirdly popular.
I love some of the neat references and hidden depth in this one. Such as that beating heart at the end. That is very likely a reference to how the Kaiju regenerate going all the way back to Frankenstein Conquers the World.
Also Alex it may be worth revisting this one, now that you are finally hitting up the Heisei Gamera Trillogy. After you finish watching Gamera 3, Revenge of Isis, rewatch this one. It might make more sense. See Shusuke Kaneko who directed the Gamera "Trilogy" originally planned 4 movies. But Daiei was failing and cancelled the fourth. Not to long after Toho contacted him to make a Godzilla movie. So much like King Kong vs the Sea Monster becoming Godzilla vs the Sea Monster, Kaneko's 4th Gamera movie morphed into a Godzilla movie, but was still playing with his Gamera themes of the 4 Guardians.
Also looking at his great character work in this and in the Gamera Trillogy, why oh why hasn't somebody gotten Kaneko to start churning out more of these type films? His Cinematography is great, a step up from Toho standard, and he manages to give us characters that we care about and want to know more about. We laugh but drunk reporter chick and her harsh admiral father have some real depth. Some real pathos. We want to watch them.
Really? They were planning a 4th Gamera film? How do you know?
There have long been rumors that they had originally hoped to do a 4th and made some preliminary plans for it. But they didn't get enough BO off G3 and the studio was doing badly. Yeah these days he says "no that cliffhanger was intended, for dramatic purpose" but I'm not sure anybody believes it. It's clear from the moment you watch GMK that Kaneko was in some ways going back to the concepts that he set up in Iris to finish up his themes.

Um may I correct you on one thing, Godzilla’s weakness to electricity was only established in 1 film being King Kong vs Godzilla. However, in the rest of the Showa Era he gets stronger from it. Also in the Heisei and rest of the millennium and post-millennium films electricity is never he weakness and he has gained more power from them. Also GMK Godzilla absorbs Ghidorah’s energy and uses it against him. And furthermore Godzilla wasn’t dead in this film. He onmy has two official deaths and that’s not one of them.

Just bought the movie after watching (actually bought blu ray 2 disc set of gmk and g against mecha g ;) )
I personally prefer a "kinda" heroic Gojira... I mean Godzilla. When they make him evil, with dead white eyes, he is a lot less likable IMHO. GZ was mostly a hero in all of the movies I saw as a child, so I have my bias for that version for sure.

In this, he's just Ghidorah. He's apparently the reincarnation of the Yamato no Orochi. He's still a juvenile, he hasn't regrown all his heads yet. He doesn't become King Ghidorah until the end.

This movie scared the shit out of me as a kid. Before all I had really seen was some showa and the original. I mean sure Godzilla was a monster in the first movie but this made it seem personal. Like godzilla was going to come for me. He was going to seek me out and kill me. Considering before this I loved godzilla that was pretty terrifying

They didn't have the fairies, but they do put in a shot of 2 girls as mothra flying into to Tokyo. Those 2 girls are, i believe, a throw back to the fairies
