For the voice of Boo, they literally attached a microphone onto a 2-year-old girl (Mary Gibbs) and followed her over the course of several days, and took whatever useful giggles, screams, burbles, phrases and other sounds from hours of footage to create her "dialogue" (plus a few things deliberately prompted in the studio). The same recordings have since been used for other Disney/Pixar baby voices, including Lion King 2, Inside Out, and the video game Kingdom Hearts 3. Must be nice for Gibbs, continuing to get new royalties decades later for "acting" you weren't aware you were doing!

As a father, there is NOTHING more touching than coming home after a long day, having your child be asleep and you just want to check in on them by peeping through the crack in the door... and they just cheer up and call your name like Boo does at the end... it not only melts your heart, but becomes one of the most touching memories you can have of your children.
Working night shift mine was the reverse. My boys (5 and 1) would climb into my lap and we'd watch Australia's Funniest Home videos. My then wife would usually have to wake me up to help her put them bed before going to work. Later, after remarrying, my 5 year old step-daughter would climb onto the recliner with me, hug my arm and go to sleep while I played Queen music videos for her. :D
Sully's continuous fainting when i he thinks Boo has been squashed, had me rolling on the floor laughing with tears spraying from my eyes the first time a watched this.😂
I have to wonder if his reactions was an homage to the Bugs Bunny cartoon "Falling Hare" (1943) where he's getting sick and fainting while in a plane doing a nose-dive. It's a famous cartoon depicting him dealing with an aircraft gremlin.
The scene where Sully thinks he’s seeing Boo get crushed in the trash compactor is an homage to an old Looney Tunes cartoon, “Feed the Kitty.” A bulldog meets a kitten that isn’t scared of it, really cute!
Fun Fact, Magy: The voice of Randall’s red three-eyed assistant, Fungus, was voiced by *Frank Oz* who performed Grover, Cookie Monster, Bert, Fozzie Bear, Miss Piggy and many others of the Muppets. But he’s also the man behind YODA. 😁
22:23 This is an homage to the old Warner Brothers cartoon with the characters Marc Anthony (a big, tough bulldog) and Pussyfoot (a cute little kitten that melts his heart). I wish Magy could see it because I'm sure she would think it was adorable.

That was a really heartwarming intro and you vibing to jazz music is a whole vibe, definitely not too much and you certainly didn't embarrassed yourself ❤ This movie introduces us to such an interesting concept, seeing monsters use kids' fear as fuel, making their entire monster society function. The emphasis on the relationships between characters is really beautiful: Mike and Sully, Sulley and Boo, Mike and Celia - they all stay true to each other, no matter how difficult things get. Boo was incredibly cute and the way she turned Sulley's world upside down, showing us just what a big heart he has - guaranteed to melt your heart. Randall was a really creepy villain for an animated movie, backstabbing everyone, ruthless and his entire way of being was just unsettling. @10:38 - Celia was probably inspired by Medusa. Medusa was a gorgon (ancient greek word meaning "dreadful" or "grim" or "scary") In the end, making the kids laugh and discovering that laughter is so much more potent than fear was such a beautiful resolution to the story. Sulley ended up changing the entire monster society along with his best friend and everyone else - all because one little Boo randomly stumbled into his life. Thank you for the beautiful reaction, nothin seems to brighten up your mood like animations do so it's always a special occasion whenever you react to one ❤
What I like about the opening is this. Once the sim kid, scares the monster, and the monster screams. The movie is telling kids "Hey nothing to be scared about".

Sulley's reaction of fainting over and over is borrowed from the Chuck Jones cartoon Feed the Kitty where Marc-Anthony the bulldog believes that his kitten friend Pussyfoot, is being baked into a batch of cookies by his mistress and he watches through the window (as he was locked out for causing trouble in attempt to save Pussyfoot) and faints over and over again. Sulley's scolding Boo and then hugs her is also heavily inspired by Marc Anthony doing the same when he saves Pussyfoot from being discovered by his owner.

Notice the differences between Randall and Waternoose when it comes to how evil they both are when using the Scream Extractor on Boo? Randall is actually sadistically evil where he is enjoying the sight of how much Boo is going to suffer, meanwhile Waternoose is clearly bothered and knows how messed up using this machine on a child is. But he still believes it's a "necessary evil" in order to save their city from losing power. And Fungus (Randall's sidekick) is not okay with using the machine on Boo in anyway, and is probably the most sympathetic. Because the machine was used on him, he knows what the experience is like and is well aware of how this machine could likely kill Boo. :(

Please please watch the brave little toaster next. One of the best animated movies ever but so so forgotten. This and the monsters inc. are the best ever
I love how Pikachu and Baby Yoda are friends.
The big boss is James coburn, Old School Hollywood royalty! I think his first movie, is a all time classic and he had very few lines. A movie u should see. The 1950s, magnificent 7!
Magy, this might be my favorite reactions from you outside of Lord of the Rings. First off, you look so amazing and i love your laugh and smile. Second, this is totally one of my all-time fav animated movies along with Ice Age. You rock girl...stay safe and keep smilin, this world needs more of you.

1. This was actually the first movie I ever saw in theaters. Saw it twice as well.
2. You said, “literally,” correctly for once. And, then, you went back to saying, “litally.”
00:47: Magy, in your intro, you mentioned the “little green guy” and “the furry one”, while they’re sitting right next to you! ☺️
You are so funny, Magy. Great reaction.
This movie has a special place in my heart 💙💙💙
