    I wish Sony put this much effort into their wireless microphone.
    Safety tracks, internal recording, better levels control, simple recharging case.
    Sigh. I should have waited.

      SONY does wireless for pros
      They do have that small transmitter-receiver combo, but that's probably just "good enough" to include in bundles. But hey! it plugs into the MI shoe, which can be great

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict 2 роки тому

      @@samuel.gabura yeah it plugs into the MI shoe but then you cannot control the levels on your camera 🤦‍♂️ You can only use the preset levels on the microphone.
      You have to connect the receiver using a 3.5mm cable if you want to adjust the levels 🤷‍♂️

      DJI is making every content creator tech company step their game up which is great for the industry.

    • @GadgetAddict
      @GadgetAddict 2 роки тому

      @@cuddleslug547 I think their system and pricing is pretty similar to the new Rode wireless set.
      But including the rechargable case solves the hassle of having to hookup individual charge cables and how to store/transport your set without losing or damaging anything.
      Hopefully other companies will react and improve their products, like you say.

      Watching now. Very nice video. I am going to be primarily using it for product reviews. Which one would you recommend? They both sound very good. I am leaning to the DJI. I like how it plugs into the phone from what I see.

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 роки тому +3

      Given that we have a similar use for the microphone, the ability to just plug the transmitter directly into the computer and recover the files is very practical. For example, if we record a YT video and the audio saves to the camera memory card (via the receiver). Let's say, we need to go back and do a bit of voice over for some B-roll. I'll just switch on the transmitter and use it as a sound recorder then quickly transfer the file to the computer via USB. For us, productivity is a huge factor so anything that helps in that respect is very valuable. But as I say, in the comparison video, they are both great.

    Magic. I started using radio mics in the last century and they've come along well since then. I must remember to donate mine to the local museum some time. Anyway, one small correction - I am 95% sure that the only action camera which accepts USB output from this is the DJI Action 2 - all others use proprietory connectivity. The use of normal standards for its USB connector is one of the relatively unsung strong points of that excellent little device.

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 роки тому +1

      You're probably right on the action camera side of things. GoPro have a completely unnecessary and expensive proprietary adapter for external audio inputs. Cheers!

    • @Ozpeter
      @Ozpeter 2 роки тому

      @@DroneFilmGuide Although the Action 2 seems expensive, if you bought a GoPro and added the stuff to give you audio input and 360 degree horizon lock, you'd probably be spending more - it's essential to compare like with like. (I'm conveniently not mentioning batteries, however!)

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 роки тому +1

      True Peter. The thing with batteries is now that everything charges from USB-C, you can buy a $20 power bank on Amazon and just charge in your pocket when you're not using your camera. I'm far too cheap to buy expensive spare batteries so have always had some kind of car charging or power bank solution!

    Of the videos I've seen on this system, i decided to order it and can't wait. I haven't done any vlog style videos or anything like that because I didn't like the audio recording off my Samsung Galaxy s21 Ultra/Insta360 One X2 mics. On the One x2 as long as the camera is close to me, the audio is not so bad but once I extend the selfie stick, it becomes hard to hear me. So safe to say, I can't wait to give this system a try.

    Rode really stepped up with the GOII but DJI have taken Rode’s lead and improved on it. That said, I expect you will have to pay a bit more for those added features, especially the case so I won’t be trading in my GOII anytime soon. I’m interested to see your comparison video to see how a drone company competes with an audio company in making a wireless mic. It seems that DJI must have hired some good people to work on their new products because they seem to have put out quality products that are going to do well. If they put out products like this and it fails then everyone will say how stupid it was for a drone company to branch out into mics. In much the same way people thought GoPro were stupid for making a drone but if it succeeded then nobody would have questioned it. Branching out into other areas is fine so long as your smart about how you do it.

    Some things I would be actually interested in, as a comparison to the Rode Wireless Go (and Go 2) systems, what's the SPL dB of the DJI?
    - Rode has a SPL of 100 and there are also other Lavs out there that go up to 120 (which is way better for people shouting, but those systems don't have internal recording so that's the tradeoff)
    - Also, does it have better shielding? Lots of people have reported "radio-like" noises when using the Rode with the Sony a7S III. I know it's partially the Camera's fault for having poor shielding on the mic input, but I was wondering if having better shielding on the DJI could help. Not to mention good shielding blocks out unwanted interference.
    These are the 2 factors that they didn't talk about in their product showcase and I think that they are pretty important for a lot of people. Thank you!

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 роки тому +4

      In addition to the 3 pretty meaningful features you've mentioned, easy transfer of files to computer, i.e. not via an app. Smaller and more discrete transmitters. Everyone has different priorities but if you're a wedding filmmaker for example, charging 3 separate devices via USB-C is not practical. Doing so with a pre-charged case is extremely valuable. Access to all settings via a touch screen is also extremely useful because fiddling with an app is not always suitable. Like I say, everyone has different priorities.

    I LOVE my Rode WirelessGo setup and, while there are a few things with this setup that I don't need or care about...dual transmitters, for instance...there are a few things about this that have me considering a switch. For sure. The safety track thing, being able to use it with a computer or phone...very cool. But, on-transmitter backup recording?...that ALONE got my attention. THAT is kind of a game changer. I don't know of another system that does anything like that and it LITERALLY would have saved me a couple weeks ago when I had to throw an entire video in the bin because I forgot to turn my receiver on. First time that's happened but it may very well not be the last. lol

    *2.4 GHz is no good ! It's too low ! 5 GHz is much better. I'm a little surprised DJI didn't include a switchable alternative frequency. This frequency is infamous for wrecking live interviews due to interfearance. (Usually a passing taxi driver gabbing to his dispatch on a his CB radio). Nine times out of ten this won't be a problem until it is and wrecks an essential interview. The backup track recording internally may or may not also suffer from some interfearance if the internal electronics are not shielded enough ? It's a great piece of kit, but there is a compromise.*

    I’m sold on this vs the rode wireless go ii but is there any reason to go for the rode

    • @DroneFilmGuide
      @DroneFilmGuide  2 роки тому

      I think we identified 4 reasons in this video: ua-cam.com/video/o_PNezNryDQ/v-deo.html
      1. Dimmable LEDs.
      2. Waveform markers in the Rode Central app that show you where drop outs have occurred.
      3. The option of compressed audio recording.
      4. PAD on/off.
      Probably not the most compelling set of reasons TBH.

    Nice review - looks like the Rode WG2 might have to be struck off the shopping list/
    What is that little tripod you're using for the transmitter? Asking for a friend. Thanks in advance.

      Cheers! It's a mini tripod from DJI that is sold for the Action 2. The Action 2's ball head mount is attached to the tripod and because the transmitter has a magnetic clip, it just sits on top.

    I have the lensgo and mirfak systems, but both suffer from numerous problems. I have a vid coming out about it this week a matter of fact. The biggest is the backup audio does not sync with my videos because it is 44100 hertz as opposed to 48000 hertz...at least that is the reason I think it goes out of sync. Do you know what the sample rate is for the DJI?

    Im returning my Saramonic system and the lensgo wireless system. The case and touchscreen as long as all the redundecys here with the DJI are killer, even the device it self is the best yet. This will be the best wireless mic system on the market. Rode does not include a charging case and i would hate going through their software just to download the files of the transmitters. These showing up as basically HDD is so much better. Looking forward to puchasing these mics

      @@rafaellima381 you really can’t continuously power these mics with the USB C port? I don’t find the recording files to be a big deal especially being a backup solution- not a primary recording solution. Just 5 years ago, a decent and robust packset kit of 2 transmitters and a dual receiver cost well over $650 and didn’t record anything, lol.

      For sure. DJI have certainly borrowed a few ideas here but they've definitely added to the product also. Personally, the internal memory is huge because in a high-pressure environment like a wedding ceremony, having a backup recording on the go whilst monitoring the audio on the camera is tremendously reassuring.

    Nice review, have been impatiently been waiting for someone to review it! Just watched several other reviews also from other creators, and yours is hands down the best. Just subscribed! Some open questions: 1. Do i understand correctly, that the transmitters accept both line-level and mic-level inputs? That would be another huge win over the Rode Go II. 2. How would you compare the sound quality compared to the Rode Go 2? Thanks so much!

    • @DroneFilmGuide

    That haptic feedback for start/stop alone is probably worth the price of admission. Glad I haven't yet bought any of these Rode Wireless Go generation of wireless mics. Looking forward to see what the competition brings up in the next 12 months. For now, I'm happy with my less convenient Boya BY-WM8 dual system. I'm primarily a DOP when it comes to behind the camera work, but in small budget projects, where I'm handling light, camera and sound, the Boya is certainly an affordable and so far (about 6 months) reliable option.
