btw, speaking about the passing rate for level 1, it should be mentioned that since preparing to pass it usually takes many years, and many of those who have passed it once continue taking it afterwards - usually passing it again and again - the 'actual passing' rate (i.e. for those who pass the kanken level 1 for the first time) is well within single digits or more likely even less: so, while ~1000 people apply for level 1 each time, with about 100-50 passing it - but among them there are perhaps only a couple of those for whom that was their first time
December 2021 update: So when browsing online for Kanji Kentei related material, I came across a DS game that came out in 2009. The game is the 3rd in the series and is marketed as the “Deluxe” version. I will consider learning around 2,000 along with words in kana plus grammmar so that I can at least get by the first few levels of the game.

Thank you for the insight and thoughtful comment!
How do I apply for kanji kentei test?
Passed Kanken level 1 in Feb. 2021, and for the second time in June 2021
Congratulations Evengy! I saw you on the Wikipedia page! Gg!
Always wanted to do KanKen, will definitely do it in the future when my Kana usage has increased.
It's definitely a great thing to aim for - a bit of motivation to pass a test doesn't hurt! がんばってください!

I also want to get the DS game, but have found a similar app on the apple store. Not as good, but free! Good luck with your studies!

Good to hear, good luck with studying!
Wow, that's something I'm never going to do. I just want to be able to read the jouyou kanji without furigana.
Ill do it level 1
Im Level 1 youtuber :)
Thanks for your comment! Level 1 is too hard for me, but maybe one day I can challenge myself!
The so called Classical Japanese proverbs/idioms are almost all actually Chinese.
