Was teammates in college with Chance. Super nice guy and was open about his demons. Glad to see him doing well and living up to his potential.

Lock Haven Rocks! Tiny School that loves Wrestling! I would have hated to see the blood on the mats with him and Ronnie going at it. You would have to clean the mess they made every hour those 2 don't like to lose. Thanks for wrestling at the Haven we love you guys! True Wrestlers come thru the Haven

It's sooooooooo hard not to root for Chance at Final X. Win or lose, he's a damn good example of overcoming, seemingly, insurmountable odds; not to mention he's a BEAST in the sport.💪

What the nice part about it is he is giving back. Thank God Lock Haven gave him a 2nd chance. Thank God he giving back to the sport!

Sat with the homie on the shuttle from Vegas and this story is more important than any wrestling story you guys could tell and I appreciate this as someone who’s lost so many loved ones to addiction. Couldn’t ask for a better dood to meet.

Its a story that needs to be made into a documentary or a movie.
I went to Kennard Dale High as well graduation class of 2005 and this kid was a stud at 8 years old at SAA Wrestling. The mat would be crowed when Chance wrestled even at that age because he was a monster. I wish him nothing but the best as he is on this journey to capture a World Championship.
In my opinion Marsteller is the BEST athlete to EVER come out of York County. Me as a fellow recovering addict with almost 4 years clean and the entire Recovery Universe is rooting for Chance As he is destined to continue this amazing journey in Life that he is on. He fully has the support of The KD Rams Alumni
    and York County.
    Go PA Wrestling

It will Imo. Chance probably doesn't have time as he wants Olympic Gold. He's really driven. He's getting better every day. Could you Imagine a party at the Marsteller house with his brother and him wanting 2nd's of Turkey?

Congrats 4 years is a lot. It's a harder struggle then people who didn't go thru it can understand.

In 2005 fentanyl wasn’t around but other opioids were and unfortunately this is a rough sport where you get banged up a lot. I tore my ACL and after surgery, I was prescribed Lortabs and after the first one I took, I was hooked. This destroyed my collegiate career and changed me for 4 years. But if it wasn’t for the discipline and strength that I learned from wrestling, I would’ve never recovered. But I’m now coming up on almost 15 years clean and couldn’t be happier. I give it up to anyone that’s battled with abdication as we’ve all been affected by it one way or another. We’re proud of you Chance and knowing this story makes you more of a hero in my book. Keep up the great work buddy and if you can beat addiction, you can beat anyone. 🙏🏼

@@npierce14 Congrats brother. I just hit 12 myself and it’s still a daily battle. The opioids had me bad. Just take one day at a time and keep stacking them up. Wishing you health and happiness from Charleston, SC. It gets easier I promise you my man.🙏🏼

I’ve never actually met Chance but I coached the middle school team at Kennard Dale starting the year after he went to OSU and he coached the same team when he was out of college for a year dealing with his issues. I’m extremely glad that he’s doing well and clean and sober. My nephew used to wrestle in his “barn” wrestling room at his home in Fawn Grove PA.

Chance was 164-0 in HS. When i coached the kennard dale MS team I would take the kids to the 100 win banner and say “I’m going to put you in situations where you may lose. I do this on purpose because there no 100 win banner for MS wrestlers”. Seemed pretty effective.

Inspiring!!!! Get those golds you dreamed of baby!!! PA all day! Nothing better than the bounce back and the unstoppable hunger that comes with it. Growing up all the beasts in PA looked like Chance. At some point they stopped eating steak and started reaching lunchables, Chance was the last one that reminded me of that old era. Build made for wrestling. I grew up with many a monster like him some fell off some became national champs. I’m pulling for him big time. It’s never too late if that fire still burns. One definition of a winner is not letting losing stop them.

Just amazing to hear he was able to get through this. I know EXACTLY how freaking tough this can be and it is nothing at all like you read from doctor reports. Withdrawals are like the flu, etc. That is so far from the truth and I think this is a huge problem. People have absolutely no idea what they are really getting into when they start using opoids... Nobody realizes how much of a hook they put into you and how incredibly terrible and nasty it is to get away from it.
So much respect for Chance!!! You are a true champion just for beating the addiction. Can't wait to see you progress your wrestling to where it should have been all along!!!!!!!

Amazing testimony...when people are addicted to drugs they are not crazy. You don't know how real some things feel when you've been empty and something in you has died. Binging is a form of suicide. They are people hungering for something that can't be filled. Thinking food will fill that good. Thinking sex will fill that void. Thinking drugs will fill that void. Thinking more likes more followers on Instagram will fill that void. Because you're looking for something you've either lost or haven't found because you've either lost or haven't found Jesus. Keep believing in your dreams. Amen.

Glad to see him doing well! I just hate that so many young boys that worshiped him were so disappointed. A friend of mine's son could tell you about every match Chance Marsteller ever wrestled. Lots of guys have far more tragic stories and don't resort to drugs and alcohol. I understand we are all human I just hate the impact to children that follow this sport so intensely...
