This video illustrates the VAS Shapeshifter and how it works. This covers both the 868 and 915MHz frequency for Crossfire. Where to buy: www.readymader... www.team-black...
So it is kinda like a TBS Diamond with the Range Hack done and mounted on a switch? Seems like you had a "wait a second" moment while drifting off to bed one night.
Video Aerial Systems love your antennas my friend! Will be ordering this next week and testing. I fly 20 to 30kms usually using mox but have high hopes with this antenna
It isn’t the same as the LongShot. This one changes from an omni into a directional antenna with the throw of a switch. The Longshot is a directional antenna of higher gain all the time.
Video Aerial Systems so the longshot is shapeshifter that is fixed in directional, the radiation pattern is the same as this shapeshifter in directional mode? So I have to point the front of it to the model?
@@cmtetaboaco - They are actually 2 completely different antennas. The LongShot has higher gain, but is fixed. Yes, you need to point a directional antenna like the LongShot toward the model, but not directly at it.
The driven element is a high gain closed loop fed by an impedance transformer. It is actually a 2 element Yagi-Uda and not a Moxon. The switch is disconnecting the reflector in the back which turns it from omni to directional mode.
So what vswr are we talking at 915 mhz cuz the only directional antenna I've got (915 mhz version from another vendor) for some reason is tuned for 900 instead of 915
Is the xfire pro better then the standed t antennas provided with the r9 slim. I have this antenna on my r9 and have dual xfire on my quad and I am not gettinf the best range from it. What could be the problem, i have my antennas mounted on my quad horizontal or flat and have tested shapeshifter flat and side to side?
Nice video! I have the same antenna, but my RSSI always hovers around 40-50 even when I am at an open field with no other interference. I even set my crossfire output power to 1W. Do you know what might be going on?
Omni only if being used as video receiver antenna right? Looks like the 5.8 Ghz Crosshair is still has better range for video. Am I reading the information correctly? Do you know how much better the shapeshifter is over the Diamond?
Omni mode and directional mode work for both transmitter and receiver side. I would say the Shapeshifter is 50% better than the Diamond. It is higher gain in omni mode and also has the long range booster built in.
Greetings Alex. First, thanks for the great products! How would you compare this to the diamond antenna? Like range and ground effect? I am a LR quad pilot and fly low and fast, and like to scale mountains and such, with the 5.8g pepperbox extreme. Thanks!
@@CQCTUMP - The Longshot is higher gain than a Shapeshifter in directional mode. It is also smaller. However, it is a dedicated directional where the Shapeshifter can change patterns to suit your needs.
So glad you are still doing. Awesome 👍
yes!! i just preordered this antenna from RMRC!! can’t wait!
They should get it in today. We shipped these out on Friday.
sweet! all i use is the best! VAS!!
Grate invention again your always leading the curve and I can't wait to see what comes next!
🥃cheers🍻
I like it & must have one!
Keep up the good work!!!
Awesome buddy
Great creation. Is there a mini in the production coming ?
I have a 2.4GHz in the works.
Awesome can't wait to get one.. is this the evolution of the tbs diamond long-range hack video?
bigg fpv - Indeed it is.
So it is kinda like a TBS Diamond with the Range Hack done and mounted on a switch? Seems like you had a "wait a second" moment while drifting off to bed one night.
Looks like a folded dipole with a reflector element on a switch behind it. So yes.
Basically yes. However, this has better SWR when used in directional mode than the diamond with the reflector.

@@Freebird_67 - Just be sure you have enough battery/fuel to come back. 30km is a LONG way to find out you have a headwind (ask me how I know).
Hey Alex, is this the same as the longshot? Can’t find videos about it, how to use it? Point to the model?

Video Aerial Systems ok, decided to get the shapeshifter, is there any discount code? 😬
Love
Simple but great innovation, which part is being disconnected the moxon or the parasitic reflector?
The driven element is a high gain closed loop fed by an impedance transformer. It is actually a 2 element Yagi-Uda and not a Moxon. The switch is disconnecting the reflector in the back which turns it from omni to directional mode.

This works for both 868 and 915 bands. 900MHz is a band, not a specific frequency so you are covered either way.
VSWR is around 1.05 at 915MHz in omni mode and 1.2 in directional mode. At 868MHz, the SWR is ~1.3 in Omni mode and 1.05 in directional mode.
@@CAGreve1231 wow that's impressive! Now I can see the justification behind having just one version thanks a lot for your time
If I put this on my r9m module with a connector, would that work just fine?
Can I use one on my goggles and one on transmitter at a same time ?

Which way would be best to mount shapeshifter, side to side like a patch or front to back?
👍👍👍👏👏👏

Sounds like a damaged antenna cable on the receiver to me.
@@highervoltage5430 thats the thing, it happens on all of my quads, so it can't be a damaged antenna cable.

This has slightly longer range than the diamond antenna in omni mode. In long range mode it has 2X the range of the diamond.

How does this compare to the TBS Diamond antenna? I’m using the full size Crossfire using US freq.
This has higher gain and ~2X the range of the Diamond (I designed the Diamond for TBS). However, it is about 50% larger
Could you use the antenna on expresslrs 915mhz ?
Yes, of course you could.

Which side is the front of the antenna that points forward?
The side without the cable is the front.
@@CAGreve1231 so the little red on/off switch faces back (aft).
@@sherwoodp2738 pretty sure the side with the switch is the front
Is there anything like this I could put on my r9 module. Or do u have any suggestions?
And how would you mount this?
@@ryansutton8425 - It will work on your R9. If your R9 is RPSMA, you simply need an adapter. Most mount this by the cable.
@@CAGreve1231 what direction? Horizontal or vertical
@@ryansutton8425 - Match the orientation of your receiver. Vertical is best, but if your receiver antenna is horizontal, mount this horizonatally.
