    Your so fun to hang out with. I love your sense humour! I cook a lot like you do. When my kids were young they would look in the fridge and say, "there's nothing to eat" then I would go in the fridge and make a great meal by pulling out this and that just like you do. It's a great way to use what you've got and get used to making it taste delicious. The risoto looks delicious. Thanks for hanging out with us. ❤

    Looking forward to you using what you have at home in order to reduce your food budget. I live far from the grocery store, so don't have a chance to stock up on tons of fresh fruit and veg frequently. I definitely rely on grains and beans. Sweet potatoes aren't cheap either, but I often buy russets which are inexpensive here. Lots of green cabbage for nightly salads. Frozen fruit for smoothies.

    Ami, you are so funny! Haha, the voice of Borat in your head! 😆 I can relate to your issue of having lots of starches and beans in your house that are not being used efficiently and being more conscious of spending on food. Sometimes I realize how much food I have in my house and get a little anxious that I need to use it up. Grains stay around forever here. Recently, we had a power outage and I started thinking about all the fresh food and frozen food I have in my fridge/freezer and my spare fridge in the garage (I had just shopped at Costco earlier that day and bought gigantic bags of 2 kinds of frozen vegetables). I love to batch prep meals and freeze some for future meals. However, in the event of a power outage, I could literally lose all of it through spoilage. I vowed to myself to reduce my food inventory in the fridge and freezer, which I have been doing. It's a balance between having ready prepped meals on hand and having too much stored. At least the grains and beans are dry and have a long shelf life. I think I can still batch prep but not to the degree I have been doing. I also need to realize that I do not have to have an extra bag of every type of frozen fruit and vegetable in the freezer. I can wait until I actually run out to buy another bag. That is what I need to work on. You mentioned mango chutney in a previous video). It is not huge in the USA, but I've seen it at Trader Joe's. BTW, my name is Vi (rhymes with "pie"). I am a 67 year old Grandma of 5 from New York and I really love your channel. Your children are so adorable and enjoyable to watch!

    Hi Ami, you likely have a 'plan' for making yogurt but I wanted to share that Miyoko Schinner recently (like several months ago) posted three yogurt recipes. While Soy (using WestSoy) is my favorite yogurt, I found the oat yogurt Miyoko Schinner shared interesting. It turned out quite thick - which I'm sure could be adjusted. Looking forward to your yogurt experiments.

    I love the toothless of oat groats. Also if you have beans that are starting to get a little old and you can't get them to tenderize try adding a little baking soda to your older beans and it helps to make beans soften.

    In the gym, start increasing the weights, you need to do about up to 15 reps to muscle failure. Using the big leg/ glutes muscles, Romanian Deadlifts (RDL,s) Weighted hip thrusts. Weighted walking lunges, weighted split squats. Same with back/ arms etc, You get the idea. Keep up your routines, you’ll see your abs coming through more.

    Hi Ami, when I heard you discussing the idea of how lean you might want to be and wondering is doing what it takes to get there worth the struggle. And my suggestion to you is to check inside yourself for what the motivation is that is driving you to consider getting more lean. Sometimes we want a result but are not sure WHY. So the best thing that you can do is find what your WHY is . Then you’ll have your answer as to whether or not doing what it takes is worth the struggle to get there.

    • @brassica35

      It's probably not intentional for people who eat wfbp to not buy unsweetened soya yoghurt or plant milk - people can't always find unsweetened in their nearest shops, or it sells out. We've seen Ami using unsweetened in her videos before. Sugar that's in plant yoghurts/milks are offset against how little refined sugar is consumed with this way of eating anyway.

    Hi Ami! Thanks for your "honest chat". I am on a weight loss journey myself, and I had a question for you. I am about 5 months in and I have lost about 45 pounds. Recently, I have been toggling back and forth between about 3 pounds, and this last week I noticed the scale was going up bit by bit. I wasn't too worried when my weight loss slowed a bit, but the scale going up has me concerned. Would love your thoughts on this if you have time in your incredibly busy life! BTW I am not doing a ton of exercise, my calories are low, under 1200, and I eat a low fat, whole food plant based diet.

    • @leas_lifestyle
      @leas_lifestyle Рік тому

      1200 calories?? You are eating the amount of calories that a 2 year old would eat. You are gaining weight because your body thinks it's starving and in a famine. Your metabolism has decreased as well. Please eat more. You should be eating AT LEAST 2300 calories a day for a grown adult female. Of course, once you increase your calories you will gain weight because your body is in fat storage mode, thinking that it will experience another famine at some point. Once you have gained the weight your body needed to gain and healed your metabolism, you're weight gain will plateau. You will then start losing weight efficiently and you will never have to worry about weight gain as long as you do not calorie restrict again. I hope this is helpful!

      Fat is really important for our bodies, especially for females

    • @Spudley_ann
      @Spudley_ann 11 місяців тому

      @@brassica35 yes, but, she eats a lot more fat than what’s recommended. Which was my point. Yes, fat is important in ways, but, the high nuts/soy/seeds is not recommended by dr Mcdougall for people aiming to get lean. She follows closer to chef Aj than dr Mcdougall who created the starch solution. So, for future knowledge, if you’re struggling to get leaner, it’s most likely the nuts/seeds/soy if consuming over 10% of fat in your day.

    • @Emilia_wallin
      @Emilia_wallin 11 місяців тому

      @@Spudley_ann Yeah I’m not gonna go into this with you. I had a12 year ED & got into a wheelchair for life because I ate too little, exercised too much & ate too little fat. Dr mcdougall is really harmful & I recommend watching @Healthy crazy cool because he debunks ALL of this fat-phobia.
      Luckily I don’t get affected by this anymore & will still eat my healthy fat like nuts, avocados, coconut etc. and so will she if she wants too. She’s not eating too much of anything, and she’s thriving.
