Should I trim off the old "BOOTS" from the trunk before applying the pesticide into the trunk and nest?

We tried with an insecticide called Ascot 2.5 but my 40 year old Palm trees are dying :( Will try a different insecticide tomorrow by injecting the base of the palm. will keep you posted if it worked or not.

+Willem Van Pelt It is a loosing battle I am afraid.... even if all those treatments are succesful , you will have to repeated them every few months .. otherwise the Red Palm Weevil will start all over again..... and it is ok if you have a couple of Palm trees in your garden ... just imagine the effort and the expenses you will need for larger numbers.
