Did you know that those preset keys can be modified easily by moving the wires in the back to different bars. The colours of those wires correspond to the RETMA colour code for resistors, e.g. drawbar 1= brown wire, 2=red, orange=3, yellow=4, green=5, blue=6, voilet=7, grey=8, and white=9. All you do is loosen the screw in the bar, slide the end out, and reconnect it to the bar that corresponds to your desired setting. IIRC the top bar is at level 8( drawbar full out) and the lowest bar is at 0(drawbar full in). There are 9 horizontal bars.

Great video! I sort of know how a Hammond worked, but didn't know what the black keys were for.

Those drawbars are so cool! They built a mechanical Inverse Fourier Transform and attached a keyboard!!

I'd love to always play the Hammond aslong as someone else carries it :) I do own a M-100(you know the cheap Hammond with the same tonewheels as the B-3) and it's great(although in dire need of service) with a 760 Leslie but I just don't use it anymore. I play in 2 bands and occasionaly help out in other bands so mobility is a big factor. That's why I've decided to go the full computer route with IK Multimedia B3X which is a beast once you get around to twinking it. But back to topic as a electronics engineer of course I know the ins and outs of my own Hammond and also the Leslie. And of course I agree on the fact that there's nothing like a real Hammond. The sound is easy enough to reproduce nowadays but a couple of things comes to mind firstly the staggered switches in the keys and then the slight vibrations of the motor. Great Video

Thanks for that info on the drawbars, I didn't know why my church organ drawbars always click and break the sound on/off. Good to know.

Interesting look at an original CV, and I like the idea of getting the fifth harmonic on the added percusion, but I'm curious why the pedalboard is missing here. I see the pedal switch assembly in there, but the pedals really are one of the key things that set an organ, whether real pipes or Hammond, apart from all other instruments. Hopefully you still do have the pedalboard for this instrument. I notice in some of the comments words to the effect that "it's not a B3" to which I would say, "so what?" It's a traditional tone wheel Hammond, and that is the important fact. Whether or not the console has solid sides or four legs is not important. It's a Hammond, and that's what makes it special, not the woodwork of the console. I always preferred the looks of a C console over a B console, but when I'm on the bench at a gig, B or C is irrelevant in my opinion. Looks like I see the older style 25 section vibrato line box in there since the music rack is off, and there's a subtle but noticeable difference in the resulting vibrato that you get from these older line boxes, which I think sound better and more "Leslie-like" than the vibrato that you get from the newer all-metal vibrato line boxes that mount on the back of the upper manual. Referring of course to the V3 setting.

I've bought some "modern" wurlitzer organs from like 60's or 70's. They still eat the virtual instruments for a breakfast. Unfortunately, something wen't wrong possibly with power supply as it flashes each new fuse. Luckily I got a schematic, so it's somewhat easier.

It's a BV which was built 20 yrsrd before the B3's and C3's. A C3 had a full cabinet ( the back of which was called a "modesty panel" for women who played it in church.) The B3 OS open underneath with spindle legs.
The organs weigh about 350 pounds and are a bitch to move without s special type of piano dolly.

never stage a virtual organ. Too many weak links in audio chain including a laptop or HX-type box that can reboot on glitch.

It's a BV which came before (1940's) the B3 or C3. There was not percussion on a BV but there are add-on kits to create it, which apparently was installed. No 5th percussion on factory B's - until they 60's or 70's on spinet models.
I should have done a video like this. My bad ...
