Sadhguru is saying that for 80 years after he dies he will ‘hang around’ to wait for those he initiated to also pass on - then after that he will truly be gone when he “withdraws” and his presence will be stronger? It sounded like he was saying “I will wait -“

How does that make any difference when people are unable to change within their lifetime. Let alone *transform.*
It is as misguiding for most of the masses as someone promising 72 virgins after death. As Sadhguru says himself, what one doesn't know, they either believe or disbelieve. So, anyone waiting on these particular words, chose to be a believer. Instead of admitting one doesn't know.
So, in reality, these words shouldn't be of any significance to a seeker.
sadhguru devotees would never go around conquering and converting half of the planet, so he must be doing something right. Should have thought a 100 times b4 using that analogy.
And btw i reasonably believe this promise was for sadguru initiates, not every person. So its about doing sadhana and receiving his guidance directly not blindly believing.
Don't wait for leaving his body if you just do your Sadhna practices regularly with intensity then you can also feel the presence of his grace no matter where are you and it's not Sadhguru from budhha mahaveer Ramkrishna paramhansa paramhans yoganand and Many Yogi's said that they will be remained in their suskhm sarir for the guidance of those who followed them
God might call you early before you decide when to die.😂
