Ar -Razzaq/The Name of Allah
Ar- Razzaq is one of the beautiful names of Allah. The name derives from the root Ra-ze-ka/Rızq and is used for all kinds of taxes, regardless of whether it is religious or worldly. It means he's taken advantage of.
It is said (as an example of material tax): the Sultan gave the sustenance (salary) of the army.
It is said: I have been provided with knowledge.…(Mufredat’ul Quran)
Since Almighty Allah is the one who gives everything that his servants are in need of, He is called Ar-Razzaq in the sense of “giving a lot”.
The provision of Allah is emphasized in hundreds of verses in the Qur'an. Generally, the provision of Allah (SWT) is either plural:"And Allah is the Best of providers."(62/Jumuah, 11) or as a verb :"Say: Truly,my Lord enlarges the provision for whom He wills of His slaves and (also) restricts (it) for him."(34/Saba’, 39)
Ar Razzaq appears only in one verse as the name :
"Verily ,Allah is the All-Provider ,Owner of Power ,the Most Strong."(51/Dhâriyat, 58)
Ar Razzaq means Allah, the source of all material and spiritual needs and the one who gives unlimited sustenance to His servants.
Manifestations of the name Ar Razzaq
1. He who gives sustenance is the one to be worshipped.:
Since it is Allah who meets all the needs of the servant, then worship should be done only to him (SWT). He only reminds his servants of this truth when he invites them to worship him.:
"O mankind ! Remember the Grace of Allah upon you ! Is there any creator other than Allah who provides for you from the sky (rain ) and the earth ? La ilaha illa Huwa .How then are you turning away (from Him)?"(35/Fâtır, 3)
"You worship besides Allah only idols ,and you only invent falsehood.Verily ,those whom you worship besides Allah have no power to give you provision ,so seek your provision from Allah (Alone) ,and worship Him (alone) ,and be grateful to Him .To Him (alone)you will be brought back ."( 29/Ankabût, 17)
2. Allah is the source of sustenance. He knows who needs what, and He gives it to everyone by the name of Ar- Razzaq.
"And no (moving) living creature is there on earth but its provision is due from Allah.And He knows its dwelling place and its deposit .All is in a Clear Book."(11/Hûd, 6)
3. Allah, Ar-Razzaq, gives the provision according to His will.
Allah, the Almighty, creates everything in measure. Sustenance is also subject to this rule of Almighty Allah. He gives the provision to whomever He wills as much as He wills:
"He has created everything ,and has measured it exactly according to its due measurements."(25/Furqân, 2)
"Verily, We have created all things with Qadar."(54/Qamar, 49)
"And there is not a thing ,but with Us are the stores thereof.And We send it not down except in a known measure."( 15/Hijr, 21)
Allah, Ar- Razzaq, informs in about ten verses that he extends the provision to whomever He wills and narrows it to whomever He wills.:
"Do they not see that Allah enlarges the provision for whom He wills and straitens .Verily,in that are indeed signs for a people who believe."(30/Rûm, 37)
