My first SWA flight was in June of 1984 from Houston Hobby to Midland/Odessa, TX on a 737-200 in this livery. I remember my ticket was a white, grocery looking receipt with a light red heart on it. I still have my cardboard MAF luggage tag which is in the shape of a heart. I still have my peanut bag which was called "love bites" back then. No peanuts, just the bag. What memories! I have "Loved" them ever since. The free bags are a huge plus. They just know how to "be" an airline with great customer service.
There still some of the Old School Classic Gold Southwest 737 planes ✈️ I miss them also the last 2 Gold Southwest I flew on I was in High School & then college at the time 1997 & 2002 that was the last Damn Good Memories 😎 🇺🇸👍🏽
Excellent footage Ryan and a "HUGE CONGRATULATIONS" Thank you for all your hard work and passion for Aviation that shows on your UA-cam Channel. My wife Gail & I fly on Southwest Airlines a lot and I got so sick of always getting on this livery and now that it's "RARE" it makes you really appreciate it when you see it, when I saw it fly out of BUR just the other day it caught my eye and I said out loud awesome :)
Thanks as always! Yeah, it's funny how you could get so sick of this livery, and now see it as special, but it happened. Truly appreciate the comment, have a great one!
Hey Ryan I feel like I went back in time with that Classic Retro Livery :-) Excellent footage :-) Thank you for taking us along :-) You should have had them land at McLellan lol :-) An Extra "BIG" thumbs up :-) Congratulations on 15K subscribers :-) Happy New Year :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
If I can get a good fare I will fly JetSuite over Southwest. JetSuite flys to San Jose. I use them to fly to Las Vegas to see my dad who lives there. The time saved and the less stress you get when flying with JetSuite is so worth it.
Hey there you just earned a new sub I have flown all my life when I was a kid from moms house In Louisiana to my dads in Virginia and again in November of 2014 when my ex fiancé broke it off with me and I went back to Louisiana so I loved flying it was amazing happy 2018 to ya
Is it true you took a day trip or something to ride the classic gold livery? Cause that’s literally awesome how did you book yourself on these flights?
It is absolutely true. I use FR24, and I was consistently following the schedules of N711HK & N714CB. When I saw that 711 was flying the next day from BUR (my home airport at the time), up to San Jose, I instantly bought a ticket. The cool thing about Southwest, if there was an equipment swap, I could have cancelled my ticket, got a credit for the full amount, and roll it over to next time 711 or 714 came in to BUR.
This isn’t a true redo of the classics SW livery scheme. There are no white rings around the windows. I know, because I used to paint these for Boeing and my least favorite part was applying those white rings that were actually decals.
I wonder why swa chose this golden hue for its "classic retro livery"; the color is way off! also, the cabin and cockpit windows should be outlined in white, and the radome's upper section should be black. swa leased a few 727-200s in the early 1980s which wore a goldish main body color, but those jets (and odd paint) were in the fleet as a way for swa to expedite route expansion Westward before their first 737-300 arrived.
yeah, you're right; i appreciate southwest's effort to honor the states they serve, and landmark events/transitions over the course of the airline's history. great video, thanks for posting!
Not really 'classic retro' status yet when it's barely been 16 years. Come on, do you call a 16 year old car a 'classic retro'? 1971 they started flying that gold scheme but it was phased out in 2001 for the current blue. give it 25 years and then maybe start calling it a retro livery.
I'm just calling it what Southwest does. It hasn't been crazy long since it's been out of service, you're right about that...but the scheme essentially goes back to the 70's, so I get it.
I love those original Southwest colors! I wished they'd go back to them.
Very nice capture! The color scheme with the gold tint actually looks so much better than the old brownish color of the past.
Thank you, I totally agree.
Love Southwest Airlines! I have flown them for over 30 years, consistent great service. Loved the climb out of BUR.
They are a great carrier. I like the no-frills, you know what you're getting type of service. The 2 free checked bags is huge as well.

you are getting no Service at all. This Airline is a joke . No choice for me

What a lovely livery. Great video & huge congrats on 15K mate, well deserved. All the best for 2018 :)
Thanks for watching, man! I appreciate the comment, I hope you have a great new year!
What a beauty!! Not too often you see this amazing paint job anymore. Huge Like! What a Fantastic video Ryan!
There was 3, now down to 2. I don't know how long they'll keep them around, sadly.
My friend flew her from PHX to BUR just a few weeks ago. What a throwback! Congrats on 15k Ryan as well!
Much appreciated, Nick! I saw that she was headed to BUR the next day on FR24, so I had to do it.
And as of right now she's on final from SLC to BUR! Gotta spot at BUR someday to maybe see her before she could get repainted.
I've flown on this jet before! Nice catch!
How cool! It's an awesome sight.
I enjoyed this flight with you as I used to enjoy flying 20 years ago prior to TSA screening and airlines nickle and diming you for everything.
Oh man, I so agree. It's a different world.
Excellent video, Ryan! The classic SW livery will always look sharp. Congrats on the channel :-)
Thank you so much, Tom! It's a livery that I thought I would never appreciate again, because BUR was overloaded in these back in the day.
Ryan great video of the classic livery on the Southwest 737-400

I am "saddened" that Southwest got rid of Shamu.. Nice Video.
Great flights of Southwest. The New Year Day is coming up!!
Thanks for watching! I can't wait for the 1st, I get to see the B-2 return to my neighborhood at a low level.
Good luck!
What a beautiful airliner. 😊💖
I agree. Thanks for watching, Lee!
RyanBomar you’re welcome 😊

Thanks so much, buddy! The 15K mark is huge for my channel. Thanks for always being there!
Your welcome :-) ROCK ON!!!!!!!
Outstanding, thank you!
I truly appreciate you stopping by, Brian!
They forgot the blacked out nose!
Great video Ryan. You must know someone at the Luv airline.
Dude, you are the best! That was a cool day, and I can't thank you enough for your help!
Good Job on 15k.
It means a lot to me, George! Thank you!
I've visited the cockpit before too!
That's mandatory :)

I love flying JetSuiteX, as well. It depends on what the occasion is, but sometimes I choose JSX, and sometimes WN. Both are great carriers.

Lovely, a very angry crying baby 😖
That's why I put this in the description: *With a special appearance by the soothing vocals of Demon Baby!
Amazing video!!! Out of curiosity what camera are you using for your videos??? Excellent quality as always!
Thank you so much! I use a low-end Sony HDR-CX675, because it's about all I could afford :)
RyanBomar wow I would have never guessed. I figured you used some high end DSLR camera! Great work.

@@RyanBomar Yeah I realized the number of the classic livery is “N714CB”
Nice video Ryan, are you working at BUR?
No, I wish I was.
What Airport Location is BUR (I have no idea what this means)?
Bob Hope Airport, also known as Hollywood Burbank Airport is located just north of Los Angeles, California. airnav.com/airport/BUR

The co pilots a girl hopefully she didn't collapse the landing gear this time

You're right, it's certainly not 100%, but I love the effort.

Yup! It’s just as ugly as I remember.
Let me apologize early then, because I recorded two additional flights on her sister ship. N714CB.
