WOW! We love BIG carrots, but it can be an awfully time consuming and labor intensive process.
But we have figured out the best way to get a great harvest with most of the work up front allowing you to get a great harvest this growing season.
There are some very simple things that help a lot, but that does not mean that we know everything. This is what works for us. Please share any tips and ask questions so others can be successful as well.
    Thanks for watching!

I subbed for fishing videos and never realized you have garden content as well. Very cool! There’s an expensive tool that looks like a mini bicycle and seeds carrots perfectly. But it costs $600. I like simple methods even if they’re more time consuming. Much more connection there. And I like the bit about the nutrient deficiencies in your saliva being incorporated into the carrot. You’re raising those kids well it’s nice to see their involvement. Great work man.

Thanks for the sub! and thanks for watching! I might look into that seeding device, but i'l probably just go with the slow method. I appreciate your encouragement!

Really interesting video. I'll try the slabs or old boards. I think I'll make my own seed tape like one of your commenters said. It is a great idea, carrots is the one vegetable I always struggle with. The weeds get big so fast and pulling them always pulls up the carrots.

I think that I will make my own seed tape, using the increased spacing. I can make the tape indoors where it is cooler and the planting will be a bit quicker and easier on my back that way.

NO! Instead, mix a thin flour-and-water paste with flour and warm water. Then add your carrot seeds to that paste and mix well. This will disperse the seeds into the paste. Now put your seed paste into a cake icing bag and simply squeeze a line of seeded paste along your row. (You can practice squeezing the seed paste onto a kitchen cutting board, adjusting the seed-to-paste ratio until you get the idea consistency and seed distribution. When you're happy, just squeeze the mix along your tow to get even distribution/spacing of your seeds.
The flour-and-water paste doesn't just distribute the seeds evenly, it provides initial water and will leech away next time you water. Now, I hear you thinking, "won't that paste solidify under the warmth of the sun?" No, it won't, because you're NOT going to leave the seed paste exposed. Instead, you're going to use those wooden boards to cover the seeds before you water them in. Those boards will hold the seeds in place, as well as trapping moisture and preventing birds pecking them out! Simply water over the top of the boards for the next two weeks. Then, roll the boards back to their original position, at which point the seedlings will have established roots and started growing (sunlight-starved) shoots. You can now continue as per the original video instructions.
Note: Do NOT use wallpaper paste, as it contains pesticides to stop anything growing.
Have fun and happy growing - Rick

@@RogersRigs Just be sure to water in after replacing the planks. This will dissolve the flour paste (turning it into natural food without moving the seeds). It really does work.

I bet those silicone tipped nail tools that u uae to pick up tiny little pieces of glitter & decals with would work Amazeballs with small seeds. Succulent seeds...carrots...celery...lettuce...INSANITY. Some succulent seeds r microscopic like the head of a pin Ity bity. The nail tools could double for making the lines for ur rows & u could also use them as a poker. They r cheap AF & some of them actually have clear hollow handles or the tool itself is able to be filled with small objects like tiny gems etc....so seeds would b cool n there too. Yeah I DEF think I am gonna try some now that I saw u use this pick up method. Amazon...u can get packs of 2+ for little of nothing. Thanx for the info...& maybe u will see this & try the tool too.
