Great detailed comparison, as always. Just by watching your videos, I’m learning how to take great shots, even with the Neo, which has a lesser camera. I’ve mentioned before that I regret getting the Neo as a portable option, but your videos show me how to make the most of it.
The Neo and Flip are both great drones. I sold my Neo and bought the Flip mainly because of the better camera and little more power in wind. In low light conditions the Neo camera quality is not do good. But in good lightning conditions I got some good results with the Neo also. The Neo video's are on my channel. Flip video's come when the weather is better in 🇳🇱
I have decided to buy the FLIP after reading the great reviews. Its uses are mounting up. In the highlands of Scotland it makes for a great midge repellant. Hold the battery and do NOT Unfold. Connect the phone to the drone and push that slider to the right- Max setting. Tie to tent with rear facing out, Voila a midge mincer.
Yea it’s super convenient. I have an air 3 and a Neo and I love my Neo! I use it for FPV so I wouldn’t consider the flip necessary for myself but if I just wanted a quick to use drone to follow my kids at the beach , on a hike , exploring on vacation the flip would be great 👍 and a great companion to my arsenal
The Flip is basically a Neo-Mini4Pro hybrid. I think that if you have the Mi4P already, the Flip isn't needed. I think it could be more of a competitor with the Mi4P if it had a more capable 360 obstacle avoidance system and more powerful motors. Also, I'm sure someone will make one eventually but I think the Flip could benefit from a wide-angle lens attachment. Nonetheless, it's great that beginners have more options to choose from while having room to grow within those options.
I just bought the DJI Flip, and it’s still in the box. I’ve never flown a drone before-total newbie here. I’m tempted to return it because I’ve heard rumors about its poor flight performance, especially in light wind. I bought it mainly for the camera, but after seeing how it struggles in light wind, I’m starting to question whether I can safely pilot this craft. Even the DJI Neo flies faster and looks more stable, which makes me doubt my decision even more.
Flips better for close proximity following / hiking … mini 4 pro better for just about everything else The mini just does not track nearly as smooth when on a hike / walk.
Nice video, very comprehensive. Are you able to record vertical video with just the drone unit without the phone/controller? and the DJI website says it can be used to track people cycling but I haven't seen a proper video of a road cyclist bombing it down a road.
The flip certainly hits that point between the Neo and the M4P for those who want better image quality than the Neo with 3-axis gimbal and some obstacle avoidance, but can't afford the much heftier price tag of the M4P. Here in the UK the price gap between the Flip and M4P is much larger - Flip: £369, M4P: £689. That's £320 difference. From the USD prices in the video, at current exchange rate the price difference ($310) is about £255, making the two drones £65 dollars closer in price in the US. Either way, for that kind of price difference I'd certainly expect the M4P to be the overall better drone, but i dont think its nearly twice the price better. Thats why I'm currently awaiting delivery of my new Flip! I suppose the comparisons and annoyance (even anger) im seeing from some drone users towards the Flip, especially in the US, is because it doesn't give that RID option for compliant use in certain conditions under your regulations, so they're still forced to stick with the M4P (or switch away from DJI) at its much higher price and therefore feel the need to justify it as a far better purchase. Still not "twice the price" better though! 😉
Neither the M4P nor the Flip are anywhere near capable when it comes to tracking. The Skydio 2 from back in 2019(?) still beats all DJI drones today which just shows how difficult this is. I am not really hopeful that DJI will crack this anytime soon - although I was impressed with the Neo as it’s logic differs from these other drones in its “follow” mode and being so light and durable, crashing it does the drone virtually no harm.
The Flip does not have a LiDar sensor! It has a simple and cheap IR sensor. LiDar works with laser. IR sensors don't work very well when there is a bit of fog (does not take much). But they are cheap. LiDar is only on the Air 3S and the Matrice 300RTK
DJI Flip vs. Mini 4 Pro: Flip is simpler, Mini 4 Pro is more advanced with better features for serious users. Video provides detailed comparisons of image quality, audio, and wind resistance.
Apparently there is an, in flip car stand you can purchase. You place the flip rear props in the slot rear facing. Place on the dashboard. Connect phone Volia fresh💨 air

NEO vs FLip is coming up next and honestly the NEO surprised me
@ Great! 👍🏻 I’m looking forward to it, because in the pro settings I’m getting very satisfying results with an ND filter.

Some say if you flip the flip it turns into a nice Laptop cooler 💨
hahahahaha
Alaska makes the DJI Flip look so good 😏😏
LOL yes, yes it does

Well done Sir; great comparison, great location (as usual) and looking forward to the next review!

I would opt for the mini 3/pro or mini 4 pro. Much better drone.
if you have the budget the mini 3 or 4 is a much better drone in the end
Extensive Flip Review. Thanks Jake
But which one is for me if I dont go on epic expeditions but just stay at home in my room?
First time watching your channel. Great work. Thanks 🙌.
Concise and explained clearly 👍
I wish dji would make the avata2 compatible with the RC2 in normal and sport mode.
I was going to ask how you did your waypoint shots and then you linked the video , thanks 🎉
You’re welcome
Спасибо. Каждый раз очень основательно и последовательно. Всё очень полезно. Удачи.
Hi fair play you live in the beautiful part of the world, great video mate

Yep
This. Essentially all the obstacle sensor makes the footage more jerky.
What’s the max follow on the mini 4 pro. The flip should be 43km/h

nice comparison. i feel like the flip video is just closer. is it a smaller fov?
No but the drone is generally closer to the subject
18:46 yup, sound you can’t hide the fact flip photo is more more more worse than Mini 4 pro 🤭, but still “good” 😅
thx good vid
You're welcome!
Dose the flip have LiDAR I thought it was infrared?

The flip is just the modern spark. It redeemed itself it's a shame they didn't call it the spark 2

too bad Skydio exited the consumer space and just looks for big government contracts now...

you are correct! I mistakenly called it a lidar sensor in this video
Not sure I like the model name😂😂😂Mubuhay!
Lol

great summary skills...

ROFL
Is dji flip better than dji mini 3
Kinda the same as the mini 4 pro
If it’s a regular mini 3 I’d say the flip is better
Flip is too noisy.
