It is very interesting to watch your restoration video of IC based table Radio. Now days technicians are rare to find sir.I have got a Philips prestige radio to be restored and it needs germanium transistors. Can you help me securing germanium transistors sir?
Some alternatives of those older transistors can be found in online stores. There's a radio museum in Bengaluru, run by Mr. Uday Kalburgi you can contact him if he has any spare. Here's an article about the same and it has his contact number. www.nsoj.in/stories/radio-man-of-bengaluru
Hi Vishwas, I happen to have the same radio and have been meaning to restore it. Your video and blog will be of immense help! On another not do you think it would be possible to add bluetooth functionality to the radio. I know purists are going to hate the thought but I want to make regular use of it rather than just hear FM.
Hi George. Thanks for your interest in this video. The thing with Bluetooth mod would be great but I would recommend a separate audio amplifier and speaker setup, as these amps are weak because of old components. This radio takes almost 20 mins to stabilize and generate a good sound. At least in winter. It has a 4 Ohm [Mono] speaker setup. Now a days Bluetooth audio amp modules are available. I would suggest you use that. Also you can use the toggle on-off rocker switch to switch between radio and Bluetooth.
Sir, thanks for your valuable information, Even I have a similar radio, Buts it's knob is missing, Can you arrange for me, I would be requiring knob for volume ,treble ,bass and require two more as spare, Request you if you can send me, whatever charges i will be paying you, Request for your kind reply, Can you share your no
Hi Zeeshan, these are normal potentiometer knobs. You can get it from SP road or you can buy it from any online store too. I'm just a hobbyist and I don't have any spare knobs either. I hope you can find this easily.
I POSSESS THIS MODEL BOUGHT IN JANUARY/1986, SUMMIT ELECTRONICS, CENTRAL AVENUE, KOLKATA-700072. STILL RUNNING WITH GREAT SOUND.
Bahut badhiya
