Hi there ! In fact you can check one of my old records ( with a time of 10:56), I think the route could be considerated as a glitchless run, as I do not use any OOB or clip. If I had to modify it to make a run wihtout OOB (but with glitches), the only modification would probably be the use of the jump-trick to skip the water part when I runaway the underground at the end. I couldn't use any of the clips as they're technically based on the same move allowing to OOB (the only difference is that I use it between two rooms instead of between a room and the nothingness =p).

Hello! What an amazing run I should say. I was thinking about running this game and tried couple of tricks/skips but had some difficulties in certain sections. So, I'd like to ask you some questions. 1. The clip you do at the library (1:26) seems to be the hardest trick in this run. From your SDA forum post and trying the clip by myself, I found that getting the right angle is important. However, I'm having issue getting the angle consistently. Do you have any visual/audio cues or setups that help you get the right angle? 2. Sometimes if I make a mistake in the OoB section at the cavern (3:20~3:47), I got the wrong camera angle and got completely lost but most importantly, it seemed like my character get stuck and won't move. Are there any ways to resolve these situations? ( I doubt it but just asking :P) 3. Why do you jump out of the cavern at 5:56? Does that save time?
Hi there ! My god I'm very sorry it seems I did not see your comment or forgot to answer it. I just saw it now completely by accident x) Anyway, let's start. I'll try to remember as hard as I can since it's been a long time that I didn't run the game. 1. For the library thing: One of the hardest trick indeed because you have to position yourself quickly and rightly. By trying again and again you'll "feel" more and more how the clip system works. To be simple, the less your run is perpendicular to the front wall, the more you'll be moved to the side, but if your angle is too opened it wont work. When you reach the end of the wall, you'll have to close the angle to be moved as close as you can to the edge. For the first angle, my visual clue was to see Emily's left leg being after the foot of the library ( the brown band). I instantly knew if my position was good or not after that depending of how fast I could ride up the next furniture. About the second angle, it's more or less the same thing, I wanted to see both legs totally inside the desk foot facing the camera (notice that in my run it was really closed, I wasn't sure to have a good position but I tried to continue anyway because after a time the monster'll stuck you). For the last angle the visual clue is clearer, I wanted Emily's head to be clearly after the brown book.If it can reassure you, I didn't succeed all the time at all. In fact most of the time my failed runs stopped here x) 2. I don't quiet remember if I was doing a particular thing from 3:20 to 3:25 (I assume that's the part that gives you troubles ?) when I didn't see the character. I remember that it was important at 3:19 to leave the screen with a correct angle, if not you'll reach a wall angle and you'll run against it without knowing it, not making any progress or making you lose time even if you manage to find a way out. For the part after I think the video shows pretty well the visual clues that I was using. Generally it's like " when I pass this visual line, I turn and run in a straight line until the next screen". If those informations aren't enough don't hesitate to precise your problem ^^ 3. Yes indeed it saves time because you avoid the "crawling" animation. BUT as soon as you're in the next room you have to activate the glitch making you not fall. If you don't do that, Emily'll fall through the floor when you'll come back to first floor, softlocking the game x) Is everything good ?
LOL, 6 minutes, amazing ;-) Still more enjoyable if you take your time :-) And I didn´t know the game is SO full of errors, haha, never experienced one when I´ve played it back in the 90s, but then again, one didn´t try to walk through walls to speed it up, haha. The bugs in the caves are hilarious! I´ve always tried to pass the worm somehow (which only comes if you down there too early), but never made it, amazing to see how you´ve done it and how crazy the errors are down there (walking on the water, etc. hahahaha). Good job.
alf3k1 Thank you very much ! I received a lot of help from several people who tried hard to find every trick and every possible way to use this little glitch alowing to pass through walls and stuff. You're not supposed to pass the worm from this path indeed, if you let it go this way it'll eventually pass through the wall, and it'll move forward eternally, frozing the game at some point. I agree though, and it's probably true for a lot of games especially those with good ambiance: lot more enjoyable when you play it normally. Thanks for the comment :)
Impressionnant !
Coming back to this, I have questions. For the gargoyles, do they not spawn because of the clip in the hallway or is it because of the animation of the werewolf coming through the window and it hasn't loaded those assets?
Ed Martinez Okay it’s complicated but I’ll try to explain (and to remember too). I do not clip in the hallway, the door simply isn’t there, neither are the gargoyles. In this game, walls are relative to your location but some « objects » are relative to the camera (and somehow, triggerboxes for camera angles aren’t the same than triggerboxes for room loading). In this scene, the camera is temporarily defocused from the character for a few seconds. During this action window, I just run to reach the stairs. I still trigger rooms so I can’t pass through walls BUT as the camera isn’t there, there is no door or monster.
Oh, I never gave you an answer, sorry about that. Dropping an item during a jump animation allows me to not fall, that's why I run over the water few sec later :)
There was another zombie DOS game, even older than this, where you also used a polygonal blonde woman that moved in a similar way to the one you can use in this game... I still remember a scene where you entered the bathroom of the house and there was a zombie hidden inside.... But I can't find this game anywhere and I can't remember the name... CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME??
Hi there ! It's a complicated trick. Basically, I trigger the cutscene when the chicken-zombie thing appears by going out and in the room. When it happens, the camera is stuck on the animation for a few sec as I'm still able to move. Without the camera following me, most of 3d models aren't loaded on the map, it includes both ennemies AND the door at the end of the corridor. To make it simple: I trigger a 'cutscene' so the camera doesn't follow me, allowing me to reach the stairs without facing the door and medusas :)
Sub seven ... Tu me l'as dis, tu l'as fais ...
I first tried this game when i was 8 years old or something. Found it extremely terrifying and giving me nightmares. Later tried it when i was 10-12 yrs old and got just as scared and lastly when i was like 15yrs... i never finished the game, i thought it was too confusing and had clunky controls and in the end i still found it quite scary... today i’m 35, i still find it clunky, scary and confusing. Heart rushing, sweaty palms and all!

+NintendoHardGamer oh mon dieu. So boring if i keep speaking French, i think you should pay more attention at it and, bonne chance!
I don't understand why you begin it in the first place, but anyway 8-) I'll eventually come back to Alone 3 and I believe sub 25 is possible, I just don't find the motivation right now. Thanks and see ya !
Nope sir, I received help from motivated people since almost 4 years. For this update, it was mostly 2 guys named LotBlind and Tigrou. LotBlind was the gold digger who tried hard to find every possible useful thing, he discovered most of the new tricks. Tigrou was able to read the code of the game and explain how it worked, he also made a dynamic map showing a lot of informations in real time, really really useful for research.
Ray Koopa I have some notes written to submit the speedrun at SDA. I didn t post it because I waited until a friend had his segmented speedrun ready but I think he let it down x)
Ray Koopa As the running move system changed a little, it is impossible to reproduce this glitch in AitD 2 and 3. However, there's another way to do something kinda similar against doors and some of the walls by running against it and opening the item list at the right time. Saddly and because of all of the game scripts it is useful only at one place: at the end when you play Carnby for the first time in the boat, you can directly access to the capitain's room without having the cardkey (don't forget to take the item allowing to free Grace though). You'll also have to do it to leave the room, it would save like 2min in my speedrun of Alone 2 but I didn't find the motivation to re-do it yet
Ray Koopa I tried a long time to clip through the portal to reach the garden but it seems impossible. To say it simply, this glitch happens because when you pause the game, it calculates when you'll be at the end of the current move, and if there's no obstacle in that spot you'll be "teleported". The thing is there are some hitboxes behind the portal who make the glitch impossible. You can find a dynamic map viewer to launch with the game in the SDA database of the game, it should help you a lot to search things. I did not try to bring modifications to any files because I m basically just some idiot who speedrun the game x) I do not know how it works and the technical aspect is probably too complicated for me :p
Hi there ! I intentionally didn't do it, I kinda don't like how the website works. I mean it is fine if you run a popular game: a lot of people moderate and verify all submitted speedruns correctly. But as for unknown/forgotten games, the submitter fastly becomes his own judge because nobody else cares, and he (obviously) accepts his own run even if it's not good at all (not just the run, sometimes even the video is unwatchable). The result is that tons of sh*t that you can barely call speedruns are uploaded and accepted without being verified properly. And don't get me wrong here, I'm not talking about speedrun elitism or something like that, every speedrun deserves recognition. But speedrunning a game asks some sort of method and work. You can't just record some bad playthrough and call it a speedrun just because you want your name at the top of some ranking and that the spot is free. Just look at this very game, it's a good exemple of what I'm saying. I have nothing against the guy who posted the video in speedrun.com but 38:22, seriously !? How is this a speedrun time ? The very first speedrun of the game by PokaP was 25 minuts shorter, and it's like 8 years old... In fact I'm pretty sure even a good walkthrough could make a better time ! I prefer the severity of SpeedDemoArchive.com where every speedrun (popular game or not) is treated the same manner so having an accepted speedrun actually has a meaning x)
Yeah, I get what you are saying, I'm fairly new to speedrunning (as a fan not as an actual apeedrunner) and I too have some issues with the site and I saw the run you're talking about, it feels like the guy is playing casually.
And he probably is, wich is fine but it's not really... You know, a speedrun x) If you want some good speedrun about Super Meat Boy, Metroid or Mario, you'll definitely find your wish on Speedrun.com. But if the game you're asking for is kinda old or underrated, you better search it by yourself on UA-cam first or even Google ^^
You can see how much Resident Evil copied this game when you play it, from the menu to the combinaison system, manor and puzzles, 3D object view, engine, protagonist choice, moving barricades, ground breaking under your feed etc You'll everything in the First Resident Evil 1, 2 , 3 and still people will say AITD is the copy since RE was by a big company with a bigger budget and with the playstation 1 launch. Sad that Mikami only admited once that he studied this game and AITD 2 with his team when RE was still an FPS game, and full of ego retracted it again by saying "Maybe".
I know I know, it's a long story. I used to be against how the website worked. I'm at peace with that now but I just don't mind about being on a ranking x)
@@arnaud33200 Oh yeah, I saw that. It's really nice of them ^^. I let a message on the forum to say that I could help if they had questions. Saddly the forum seems pretty dead since the last year...
@@NintendoHardGamer yeah everything seems to be slow on speedrun.com. I've submitted a speedrun, it's been more than a month an still no answer ... btw if you want to take a look, check my channel, it's a similar game
@@arnaud33200 Well it really is depending on the popularity of the game itself, that's one of the things I had a problem with x) Mah gad ! I'll watch it but I want to do it first. It really is AitD like :o I'm sure I heard about that game before, because it's the same engine or something like that. Shame in me to never tried it !
So… For anyone calling the newly released Alone in the Dark game a remake of the original… Well, just look at the shit that goes down here and show me where any of it happens in the new game at all 😅😅 Cause I finish it 6 times and ain’t seen any of it 😂😂😂
Finding the exploits is a craft all to itself. Can you imagine playing a game running into the walls for hours to find that one crack that lets you phase through? That's a level of dedication and skill to be admired.
This is an insult to the game!!!!! I bet u got the walkthrough by UA-cam vídeos... I played this game in the 90s, AitD 2 and 3 too, also jack in the dark. Times when u played without any ridiculous tricks, glitches or walkthroughs... U had to play by yourself to beat the game, and i beated the 4 of them... Despickable...
My god, you're that old yet you're acting like a child. I can understand that you think that glitches and bugs ruin the experience of such a great serie but don't come here and spit your scorn just because you consider that completing the game long time ago makes you a greater gamer, fan or whatever. Playing a game or speerunning it are complete different experiences and both are really enjoyable. I wouldn't speedrun it if I didn't play it more casually at first so stop your nonsense. As for the use of walkthroughs... Dude, are you seriously bragging about that like it was impressive ? My sister beat it when she was 13years old, that's not even a joke. Grow up a little.
You could just say you don't like glitch abuse. Same message but without being rude without any good reason. Speedruns of this game without glitch also exists somewhere on my channel if you're interested. Have a nice day pal !
@@NintendoHardGamer that no glitch speed run was sick I would’ve never even beat the game when it first came out I couldn’t even get passed the demons at the stair case when I was 6 😂

For the part after I think the video shows pretty well the visual clues that I was using. Generally it's like " when I pass this visual line, I turn and run in a straight line until the next screen". If those informations aren't enough don't hesitate to precise your problem ^^
3. Yes indeed it saves time because you avoid the "crawling" animation. BUT as soon as you're in the next room you have to activate the glitch making you not fall. If you don't do that, Emily'll fall through the floor when you'll come back to first floor, softlocking the game x)
Is everything good ?
@@NintendoHardGamer Thanks for the comment! That helped a lot 👍
A game until now i don’t have the courage to finish... so scary 👻💀
never knew this game was around. I guess I was busy playing my Sega Genesis and SNES.
This game looks sick asf where can I get a copy?? Looks ten times better than resident evil!!!!
The easiest place to get the game has to be Gog.com
The Remake of the game is coming!
I just saw that. I got nothing against the idea, I just hope the remake won't be something without anything in commun except the tittle x_x
Impressionnant !
What a wonderful mess of a game.
HOLY MOTHER OF CHICKENS WE HAVE A WINNER!!
Well thank you :) The run is kinda messed up now that there's OOB everywhere but tricks are still pretty interesting !
It was incredibly cool!!!
these enemies are not your typical zombies. makes them even scarier.
why did you drop the hook at the end?
Oh, I never gave you an answer, sorry about that. Dropping an item during a jump animation allows me to not fall, that's why I run over the water few sec later :)
@@NintendoHardGamer ahh 😀 thank you for your answer 👍🏻😀
There was another zombie DOS game, even older than this, where you also used a polygonal blonde woman that moved in a similar way to the one you can use in this game... I still remember a scene where you entered the bathroom of the house and there was a zombie hidden inside.... But I can't find this game anywhere and I can't remember the name... CAN SOMEBODY HELP ME??
WHO WAS DRIVING
How much was the World record in the game? Is this a record? (-_-) (Like 522; Comm 132; View 37713)
Hi there !
I'm pretty sure it's still the world record. Didn't check on speedrun.com recently though.
@@NintendoHardGamer Hi! I suppose that hasn't to will bring more lesser value. May be split some seconds. It's unbelievable time, 6.21! (^_^)
How were there no dragons at the top of the stairs?
@@NintendoHardGamer smart! And thanks for the reply. 😄
Merci mon jeune ami !
Sub seven ... Tu me l'as dis, tu l'as fais ...
My teacher is this game's scenarist
Seriously ?! How cool ! What is his name ? Mr. Chardot ? That's the name I see on the wiki page...
What in gods name... :D Woah... !!!
She looks like the violin girl from Courage the Cowardly Dog
This is definitely how you're supposed to play the game xD
Oh my god !

Philippe Vachey - Happy Outcome
+NintendoHardGamer oh mon dieu. So boring if i keep speaking French, i think you should pay more attention at it and, bonne chance!
I don't understand why you begin it in the first place, but anyway 8-) I'll eventually come back to Alone 3 and I believe sub 25 is possible, I just don't find the motivation right now. Thanks and see ya !
I dont understand at ua-cam.com/video/HD2Dq75Kzro/v-deo.html What kind of Glith is that.
Hello there, sorry for the late answer !
You can find the explanation in another comment here, an answer to "Silentj624".
Have a great day :)
Game made in french and relase in 1991 yes cool
Dude you're weird x)
Did you discover all those shortcuts by yourself?
Nope sir, I received help from motivated people since almost 4 years. For this update, it was mostly 2 guys named LotBlind and Tigrou. LotBlind was the gold digger who tried hard to find every possible useful thing, he discovered most of the new tricks. Tigrou was able to read the code of the game and explain how it worked, he also made a dynamic map showing a lot of informations in real time, really really useful for research.
Cool, I was wondering how anyone can find out such tricks. It just looks like some random actions to me.
Game full of glitches and backrooms !
You should submit this to speedrun.com
You can see how much Resident Evil copied this game when you play it, from the menu to the combinaison system, manor and puzzles, 3D object view, engine, protagonist choice, moving barricades, ground breaking under your feed etc
You'll everything in the First Resident Evil 1, 2 , 3 and still people will say AITD is the copy since RE was by a big company with a bigger budget and with the playstation 1 launch.
Sad that Mikami only admited once that he studied this game and AITD 2 with his team when RE was still an FPS game, and full of ego retracted it again by saying "Maybe".
you should submit your run to speedrun.com!
I know I know, it's a long story. I used to be against how the website worked. I'm at peace with that now but I just don't mind about being on a ranking x)
@@NintendoHardGamer The current WR holder mentioned you in his run, at least you got some credit :)

So…
For anyone calling the newly released Alone in the Dark game a remake of the original…
Well, just look at the shit that goes down here and show me where any of it happens in the new game at all 😅😅
Cause I finish it 6 times and ain’t seen any of it 😂😂😂
Ironically the speedrun for the new game is similar to this one XD Lots of out of bounds.
What's the point in exploit speedruns?.... :(
Finding the exploits is a craft all to itself.
Poor baby can't stand to see someone speed-run a game that probably took them months to figure out. Wah wah wah.
