I’m Japanese and I love manga 💓So I was excited when I found this video and your youtube channel‼️I’m happy to hear the fun of manga . Thank you 🙏 I’m looking forward to watching your video ‼️Of course, I’ve subscribed to your channel 😄😄
I definitely agree with you that it was a really good year for manga!! Also I am glad to see that english manga publishers have been having a good year for sales!!!
Hm I guess I'll do things slightly differently since I only really collect Japanese manga releases. My favorite new manga serializations that started in 2020 were Kaiju No. 8/Monster #8, Crazy Food Truck and Sekai wa Owattemo Ikiru tte Tanoshii/Even If the World Is Over It's Fun to Live. Monster #8 is on manga plus and it's probably the most popular manga that made its debut from this year, it already has 430k copies in print in Japan. I love the art style and aesthetic for Hanako-kun, but I just couldn't get into it, neither the manga or the anime, I guess it's just not for me. I read a few chapters from Blue Period a while ago, but I wasn't convinced fully if I like it or not but recently I did revisit the manga again and I find it pretty fascinating, I want to try to properly get into it, I think your review for it did a good job at describing its appeal and it is getting an anime next year so more people will be looking into it. I read 29 chapters from Blue Flag and they were really good, but I tend to lose interest in romantic manga the longer they go on so I probably won't be finishing it, I'm not much of a romance or romcom reader. Spy x Family is great, it's my favorite new manga that started in 2019 for sure(as a side note, other manga that started serializing in 2019 that I enjoyed are Dai Dark, Yofukashi no Uta/Call of the Night, Shimeji Simulation and Colorless. Interestingly enough Call of the Night and Dai Dark are licensed in English already.
I've definitely heard a lot about Kaiju No. 8 since it got a translation to english! The other two I have not heard about but I will look into them. I think that the art style and the kind of comedic writing is what is appealing for Hanako-kun, but it definitely is not a series for everyone! Also as for blue flag, I believe it wraps up in 8 volumes which is a fair length for a romance/drama manga. I definitely do not care for romance focused series that go past 10 volumes. Ooh I was totally looking into picking up Call of the Night after the physical volume is released in English, it looked really interesting from what I saw on the pre-order page. I'm really glad that more series are starting to published in english closer to simultaneously with the Japanese releases.
Great list. I haven't read a lot of manga this year so I can't say what's on my top 10. But I do know I'll be planning on buying more manga next year.
Haha I think I have the opposite plan for 2021, where I want to try and buy less manga 😂

Blue Flag is so so so good. The emotions I feel every time I read a new volume. Definitely deserved of the top spot!
Honestly Blue Flag is just such a good and emotional manga. I love how much I care about the characters and how real it feels!!
A lot of my top 10 mangas released this year are the same as yours! Despite everything, it was a pretty good year for manga I think!
