When I first heard this six years ago I'd spent three months reading Nietzsche and laughing at the world, and suddenly I found that I couldn't take anything seriously, like even my own 'edginess' had dissipated into a void, and I became very depressed, but without any sadness to it. And this song made perfect sense to me (as well as Mold En Mono). I was a weird kid. Now I'm a weird adult, but still, now I'm not even sure where the door to the cage is.
Even though I hadn't listened to this song in years, it every once in a while gets stuck in my head... because at one point, a younger me memorized the entire damn thing.
koolgool I didn't discover this song until last year because I had bad internet back then and I was homeschooled so no one showed it to me, but I have to say, despite the fact that it's much lower quality production in comparison to what people regularly have the resources to make nowadays on the internet, its a pretty compelling song, so I just keep listening to it

I just want to walk up to somebody and quote the lyrics to the song at them can you imagine being approached by stranger and then the stranger sang "the king of Mars perfect his commentary skills I'm a gold-plated man monkey fold dollar bills if you're happy or dial runs down don't be fooled by gravity and don't be like the sun" I'd be confused if not concerned for the person's sanity assuming I didn't know this song existed of course if somebody did that now I'd be like oh cool you're a lemon demon fan to
the part at 2:13 is a metaphor for an unhealthy relationship. the toxic fumes represent unhealthy notions of how relationships should work, & when the singer breathes them in (aka hears and believes those notions), he breathes out “sugar-frosted blood”. blood is what makes all of us run, & sugar-frosted things are often completely covered in sugary frosting, sometimes making it hard to tell what it is. the singer is putting all of his energy into his relationship even as it saps his life force, disguising it under a layer of sweetness. he then goes on to say that doing this is the only way he’s ever made the other person laugh, implying they have impossibly high standards that are incredibly hard to live up to. but still he keeps doing it, because it’s the only way to keep their relationship alive. in this essay i will
