Thank you so much for this reaction! The NBC network producer, Steve Binder was a genius. He pulled in a live audience for a rehearsal then made it part of the show that aired later in December of the same year. Here, we're seeing Elvis raw. He hasn't performed live in 8 years. Even with the glitches and jokes, he's still captivating.

What a dream man he was. Who looks like that, as the newspapers claimed when he did Madison Square Garden for his first and only performance, said, "a Prince from another Planet", indeed, miss him so much. Thanks for your great reaction. Be blessed.

You should try to come over and see Graceland in Memphis. It is amazing to go through Elvis's home and to see the area where Elvis's gold records and awards are. There are walls and walls of gold records records. It will blow you away. Some of his clothes from movies and the clothes, like the leather suit and others, are on display too.

This is one video version of Elvis singing Love Me Tender at his Aloha From Hawaii Concert. However, his most popular video of Love Me Tender is one he performed in 1970 live in Las Vegas. This version will show you how much his devoted legion of fans loved him & how much The King loved his fans in return. One of a kind video. You both will not be disappointed. Thank you.

One Night is my favorite Elvis song. It's a remake of Smiley Lewis's One Night of Sin. Elvis loved the song. The producers made him change the words for the official release, but I think there is a version with the original lyrics out there somewhere.

Thank you for your reaction to Elvis (Jan. 8, 1935-Aug. 16, 1977).
Elvis was born on January 8, 1935 in Tupelo, Mississippi, in a 2 room shack of a house his dad built with money he borrowed from his boss. That's how dirt poor they were. He was one half of identical twins; the other boy - Jesse Garon - was stillborn. They were so poor, that Jesse Garon was buried in a shoebox in an unmarked grave. At Graceland they have a plaque with his name on it in his memory.
Elvis always got along with the black community and learned a lot about music from his friends of color. Also, according to the one drop rule, Elvis would not be considered white, since he has Cherokee ancestors on both the Smith (his mother) and the Presley (his father) sides of the family. His paternal grandfather, Jesse Dunning Presley, was not happy that his two sons, Elvis' father Vernon and his brother Vester, married two sisters, Gladys and Clettes who were known to have Cherokee blood in their family tree. J.D. Presley was quite the racist a-hole, often drunk and a philandering husband to Minnie Mae (they were actually separated long before they finally divorced in 1954) who was always competing with his sons Vester and Vernon and who was known to abuse his kids when drunk. J.D. was was publicly against race mixing and was in denial about the Cherokee blood in his own family tree. It was more publicly known that the Smith family had Native blood in their family tree, so when both his sons fell for 2 Smith sisters and Vernon, on top of that, was still a minor at 17 when he eloped with Gladys who was 4 years older than him, Jesse was totally pissed off.
As a child, Elvis already had many friends in the black community at the time his family was one of 4 "white" families that lived in the predominantly black neighborhood The Hill, just across from Shake Rag. His childhood friend Sam Bell said that some of the (black) kids in that neighborhood had lighter skin than Elvis (ua-cam.com/video/LrFCyNMvZWk/v-deo.html). One of Elvis' bodyguards once said that he thought it was a miracle Elvis got into Humes High School in Memphis, because it was "lily white". Elvis wanted to be more open about his Native ancestry, but his manager "colonel" Tom Parker (real name Andreas van Kuijk) was against it because he was afraid it might cost Elvis fans (and himself money). They did have Elvis play characters in his movies though where he had Native American blood (Flaming Star, G.I. Blues, Stay Away Joe). Once Elvis had his own (apprentice) job learning to be an electrician, he saved up his money and bought his clothes in the same style that many of his friends of color wore. He was called a (forgive me, just stating facts here) "n-lover" and got beaten up several times too. Later, when he was an established star, he would not perform at places where the members of color of his back-up band/orchestra weren't allowed.

I don't think I've ever 'crushed' on a music artist. I've been a fangirl in the sense that I've loved an artist or band, but never 'fancied' any of them, if you know what I mean. I'm just odd that way. But I totally get why so many women went gaga over Elvis. He was extremely good looking, with a bucket load of charisma, not to mention a buttery voice. He died when I was one so I missed his career heights, but I don't think there are many people who wouldn't know who he was, almost 5 decades after he died. What an icon ❤

You just reacted to a 33 yr old Elvis performing a more updated version of 'Love Me Tender (which for me, is one of his most endearing songs). I suggest you watch the twenty-one yr. old Elvis sing "Love MeTender" live on The Ed Sullivan Show in Sept. '56, shortly before the single's release and 2mos before his debut film of the same name was released/ premiered. If you really want to learn why and how Elvis changed the face of music, it would behoove you to react to his various first tv appearances shows '56. You also might want to view the film, which is really quite good as was Elvis's performance in it. There are also several other songs that he sings in the film, and you get to see that charismatic, untamed energy, unique voice, and style that no one has ever been able to duplicate to this day. Remember that from the time Elvis was seen on tv in '56, he literally became a super star within that same year. The American public had never seen or heard anyone like him before and since. Here is a Link to the Ed Sulllivan '56 version ua-cam.com/video/OQWeT46ugEk/v-deo.html

The King 👑. What can you say that’s not already been said about The Man? Ditto! The one that started it all, Rock-n-Roll wise anyway. I still remember the day we lost him. I was still a kid at summer camp and someone ran in and said, “Hey did you hear the news…” 😔
I can’t really think of a rare Elvis music video but I think my favorite would have to be “In the Ghetto”, live in Vegas. I’ve seen that one bring people to tears. So put on your best “stiff upper lip” mates, before giving that one a go.

This is the best version he did of the song. It even beats the 1956 version. Of course I didn't hear him do it for all his concerts. But in the 1970s it seemed he did it too quick as kind of a throwaway.

This video is exactly what it claims & IS from his '68 Comeback TV special. Regardless, it's his Love Me Tender video performed in 1970 in Las Vegas that I feel is a "must see" for you BOTH react to.
