As someone who does not follow karate, I still feel like I've seen something awe-inspiring. His movements are so sharp, crisp, and.. clean, that you just know you've seen something different.
Watching him perform his Kaya execution reminds me of my first Kata championship that I've won during my teenage life, Especially how proud my mom witnessed me holding my trophy.
I'm not into karate, but these Katas are absolutely beautiful to watch. It's like a mix of martial arts/dance/gymnastics/athleticism. I can see why ancient people were so astonished by the animal forms in Kung Fu styles that would travel. You'd see them preform almost unhuman movements. the snapping noise the gi makes has a rhythm to it that just entraps my attention.
In Japanese it is called Kime: The energy, force or power that the karateka must be able to apply in his techniques and it translates into that characteristic snap.
Honestly, I’m oblivious to what makes this so exceptional… clearly he is talented at something.. but can someone please explain to me what the brilliancy is here? 😅
The various styles - Shorin Ryu, Wado Ryu, Shito Ryu etc. all approach the kata differently in terms of power, quickness of the moves and so on even though they are doing the same kata. How are they judged?
The Karateka must perform Bunkai,as part of the Kata performance .The pandemic is no excuse. The performers can social distance, and do the Kata applications without Physical contact!!!
As an Okinawan, he has brought gold to the home of Karate. Awesome! Congratulations, Kiyuna-san!
Home of karate is India...Kalariyapaytu is mother of all martial arts
@@danishk4172along with that logic, we are all monkeys
Him holding the photograph of his mother was the most beautiful and heartbreaking of images. He is an amazing athlete. He deserved that gold.
This guy is impressive, his expressions show an entire culture. Fantastic!
3:57 Beautiful image of gold medalist Ryo Kiyuna with his mother who passed away in 2019

I'm from Okinawa.
We learned karate KATA "アーナン" in high school.
Tell me something does all okinowans practice karate and do you do it just as a way of life?...or do you have to go to a sensei to learn it?....
I'm a Filipino I learned kata when I was 5 years old.
There's so much Power and raw emotion in his performance.
Nothing passed off as martial art.
I wonder how many hours of his life were dedicated to becoming this skilled.
You can do it too
simply beautiful
It's beautiful It's really cool
Living legend 🙌
Best performar
It’s my first time watching this sport and I’m already in love with it.
Question - does the sound has any particular meaning behind?
He is naming the kata he's performing
Yes, sound is the expression of power & strength, coordinated extreme physical move.
@@KumarKumar-bv6ju Thank you🙏

@@KumarKumar-bv6ju I don´t agree. Evidently, you have never seen a true master perform kata. This is circus.
My hero love u
Perfect and inspirational!!!
Ryo Kiyuna
I wish if he did not wear the Karate jacket.
Moves and stays of his muscles would have been a great message to us.
I hope someday....

Great to watch. But , when does the fight start?!

it is as if you can see the opponent he is "fighting" against when he executes his kata with that kind of focus.

Your thinking of team kata which was not part of the category in the olympics
Agree. Kata contests have become a cheap circus.

I can't help but find it funny but I know I must be an outlier from reading the comments.
Karate will be removed from the Olympic event at the 2024 Paris Games
karate removed for breakdancing. simply bollocks.
