You should have gone to the Wool Growers for Basque Food. Best Basque Food in Bakersfield. Best in the central valley of California in my opinion. I also hope you tried the peanut butter and jelly pizza at John’s Incredible Pizza. It is one of the most unique pizza’s one could eat. If not, I would highly recommend trying it in the future. Food for thought for the next time you travel north. I’d also recommend traveling north of Bakersfield to Fresno. There a lot of good restaurants up there as well. Per capita it’s more diverse than anywhere else in the state of California. Thai, Lao, Chinese, Japanese, Indian, Ethopian, Italian, Greek, etc. Now I’m going to plan a trip to try that death by chicken the next time I head south to Bakersfield.

I highly recommend Uricchio's Trattoria and Frugatti's. Not since I lived in San Francisco did I have Italian food that damn good. Big portions too. Lengthwise is a local brewing company that also has few restaurants here, I HIGHLY recommend their Zeus Imperial Ale (10% ABV). Even if you're not a beer guy it's still worth it for the food (try the Stinky Burger and Stinky Fries). If you want good and authentic Mexican, try Los Molcajetes. Bakersfield unfortunately has a quantity over quality problem when it comes to Mexican food but the ones that are good are REAL good. For Chinese, the best I've had here is Bill Lee's Bamboo Chopsticks.
Lived in Bakersfield for 8 years (glad I left😂). If you decide to give Bakersfield another chance , some places that I suggest that would fit your guys pallet. Blenderz and Bagels Frugatti’s (Italian ) Smiths Bakery Salty’s BBQ. Locals love this place, quite frankly it’s overrated IMHO. Dewars Icecream is a Bakersfield staple Luigi’s downtown KC steakhouse or Steak and Grapes are local places that people loved. q Wool Growers is THE Basque restaurant in Bakersfield. Moo’ Creamery for Burgers Viceroy for Indian food Max’s Restaurant for some “upscale” Filipino food. However Judging how y’all tolerated Dollar Hits in LA….maybe not.😂 J’s Place was hands down some of the best Soul Food in town if not in CA. I’m not sure if it’s still open after his untimely death. ( I think they may have renamed it but I could be wrong) Also word of advice, Bakersfield is a very Red county( I’m a Conservative myself, but think MAGA) . With that said there are some spots that I was told by locals even that if you aren’t a regular…you’re not welcome. That Basque Restaurant on Rosedale was one of them (The one you guys were at). Bakersfield in the last 10 or so years has become a bit more diverse, however there were still times where I felt me and my family were not welcomed. But for the most part had a positive experience living there

There's Luigi's plus some really bomb Mexican spots. Definitely need to do another/real food tour of Bakersfield.😊
Bro! You missed out on champs BBQ. It's off of 7th standard road (technically it's airport drive) all of their food is good. Their pulled pork sandwich is legit or as you would say, "certified!" Also, salty's is good too. I'm pretty sure guy fierri ate there.

Love your videos! You where differently at the wrong Basque restaurant! You need to go to Pyrenees Cafe, food is delicious! Your waiter called is a 3 course meal, but it's actually called "the set up" and then the main entrée is brought out. Pickle tongue, is better eaten on a slice of french bread with salsa on top. The french bread is local and it smells amazing when u walk in and it's called me Pyrenees Bakery and it's a block over from the restaurant. Luigi's is around the corner from the bakery, also delicious! Saturday's their steak sandwiches are amazing! But, their butterfinger pie is the Best! For a different kind of pizza, keep driving on the 99 north to Delano, CA and find L&R's pizza and order the Chile Verde Pizza! It's a whole meal! Delicious 😋

I just went there a few months ago, and it still ain't changed. I went to 6th Street Parc and it was more homeless people there than ever before. If you want to do cheap eats there are some cool spots, most of them tend to be Indian/Pakistani. The best place for our food is either Oakland or the Bayview/Hunters Point area in SF. What's on hit in the Bay is Thai, Vietnamese, Japanese, and Korean.... Let me know if you are planning to come to The Bay for an episode, i will send you some spots to check out. My palette is pretty versatile because i used to be a chef, so i can recommend some truly diverse spots. I'll break them down by cost. Low budget(cheap eats) Mid budget(small spots with great food but not cheap) High budget(this is where SF is at it's best and most of The Bay for that matter, high end dining is king here) Love the content bro!

Bakersfield is pretty crazy, its a place nobody wants to be, and yet it has some crazy good food. Pyrenees bread is a brand local to Bakersfield but available in grocery stores. If you are ever there again, I recommend Uricchio's trattoria. If you want the best Basque food my grandparents swear by Wool Growers. If you wanna try Greek food try out Athena's. Bakersfield actually had 8 restaurants on the show "Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives" look it up for some interesting picks.

I have so many questions like why would you come to Bako and not try places like the Padre, Frugattis, Taco Bros!! We have so many bomb places!!! I live 1 min from the Basque restaurant and have never felt motivated to go there like me and my husband have a running joke because we have never smelled their food outside…like KFC is 3 blocks away and we can smell them😅

While you was in Bakersfield, you should have pulled off on the first two exits and got some of the roasted barbecue chicken out of the liquor store type deal. Hella fire. Its theBest thing in that raggedy ass city
I like the food and excellent service in Bakersfield restaurants. But the people in general(on the street) are some of the worst I've ever been around in my life... And I've lived in several states.
Basque is not the spot there are amazing barbeque places. Next time you go to a different town ask your viewers if they know of any food places that are the best in that town.

What up you guys went to the wrong Basque Restaurant. Woolgrowers on 19th street is one of the best! Also you guys need to try Luigis restaurant right down the street from woolgrowers. Another amazing restaurant.
