    Hey Pilot Robert! All Freewing planes need to calibrate the ESC to the transmitter. Turn the transmitter on. Move the throttle stick to full power. Plug the battery in the plane and wait 2 seconds. When You hear two beeps, lower the throttle stick. You will then hear several beeps corresponding to how many cells your battery has. After that you should hear a long beep which means that the throttle has been set. That's how I setup my Freewing Stinger 90 and BAE Hawk planes and the work perfectly. Good luck.

      I did my friend. But no way to get more then 1.1kg of thrust.

      @@PetrincicBrosRC How is the battery? All cells balanced? You used 40% of the battery with two aborted takeoffs. Something is not right. You should be able to get 4 to 5 minutes of flying time on this airplane with that battery. Try another one.

      .. still learning all I can about EDFs .. so this was very interesting for me ..
      hey, never mind this is brand product - always test at least thrust like your RB designs ..
      my first guess would be to test this batt. like many said, but then it can be that something moved inside - you have very interesting results with changing inlets, rear pipes .. those suckers are sensitive to that ..
      watching very anxiously what your findings would be on this - thanks for fun video as always!!

    Gentlemen, I agree with Angel. I think the battery has an internal problem. I had this same thing on my Freewing 90mm F-16. I had used the same battery the week before with no problems, then suddenly it was low on power. Thank you for the video, and good luck!

    Captain Blaź you are the king of the slow zoom!! Pilot Robert I am an amateur as well, so I can't explain it other than to say it has something to do with efficiency. I had similar trouble with a scratch build where I had more thrust on 3s than on a 4s battery. Again I can't explain it, but it is noted in the manual for the Yak 130 that the 12 blade version is meant for 4s batteries. I'll bet that if you just swap battery for a 4s it will fly perfect with more thrust. I wish I could explain the science behind it, but give it a try, I'll bet you'll be surprised.

    Haha! you got to take it home, ...not in a bag, that's a bonus for a Jet maiden! You need a HIGH C rating on a newish battery to get that Jet in the air, and test the NEW battery on the bench to see what thrust you get great vid thanks for sharing

    The way to stop that issue that you were talking about the flaps going down and then back up when you plug in the battery and the other planes retracts going down and back up. After your airplane is setup and everything working do a rebind and that will solve all that. Hope this helps!

    Shazbat!!! If the battery isn’t the issue, then pull the hatch and see what motor you have. The 6 cell setup uses a 3048 2150kv motor. A smaller motor means it’s 4s.
    I fly with a Gensace 6s 3300mah 45c battery and get all the power imaginable.
    Thinking you have a 4s setup and you overloaded the system.
    Looking forward to seeing what you find out.

    Many of my EDFs never seemed to have big enough intake for air. I put cheater holes in the bottom of the fuselage for more air, which was a big requirement on my big jets like my Byron F-16. It had a big "cheater hole" even for the Nitro Engine, but who knows, lighter battery may be a good test. Looks like summer there again. Lucky you! Hang in there.~Dave

    Nicely saved Robert!! I would agree with other commenters that there may well be something wrong with your lipo. Sorry Captain Blaz but I think the size of the battery was OK. Yes, it would go better with a lighter battery but it simply needs more thrust.

    I think you have a cell down there Robert as the motor was not producing the power it should have done,that battery should have been more than adequate and the model could easily take the weight of the extra size,if its not the battery then ESC is suspect ?

    Takeoff flaps @ 10-15% would lower the stall speed maybe allowing you to get in the air but you would have been in trouble keeping it flying once you raised them. Don’t think it was the battery weight though. I went back and forth between this and the Bae Hawk, they both have similar performance and use the same batteries, so if the Hawk flew well, this should have done so as well. BTW, I got the Hawk because of your video.

    Hey Guys, first of all - Great videos! Now to the plane, we had the 90mm version on our field in Austria several years ago. Nearly same problems. As the YAK has 2 "edf" outlets, you loose really much of thrust by the design. On the 90mm version, we needed to upgrade from 6S to 8S and use another EDF unit (Jetfan 90mm V2). Afterwards, all went fine. Before, as allready said, the same behavior as you had on this video, including stall right after the start when using flaps. To get her in the air as she is, there are 2 thing neccessary I think: Wind (and not less wind!) and a longer run time until you pull the elevator. Then she will fliy. Please do not try a smaller battery, the Freewing EDFs need every AMP they get!!! Greatings!!!

    • @PetrincicBrosRC
      @PetrincicBrosRC  5 років тому

      Oh yeah my friend. I was really going mad about what is going on here. I knew that the baterria was not the problem here. I have also upgraded it with high speed EDF and ESC from RP plane for wich I know that I can have 2kg of thrust, but still I get only 1.4kg. There is something wrong with the construction of this plane and right now as we speak Iam testing how to make exhaust holes smaller to get more air speed at the back. It must be that. Thanks for great informations my friend. I will make this bird fly good so help me God and I hope FReewing will watch ;-)

    • @stephanbinder3829
      @stephanbinder3829 5 років тому

      @@PetrincicBrosRC you need to have around 2,5kg of thrust native, then it should be fine I think. Post a Pic from the inner Side of the outlets, right behind the EDF. Maybe there is a way. Does the plane have some cheater wholes? I do not think, that the outlets are to small...

    Great plane guys but there is a power issue. It should be screaming with that battery.
    Could be the ESC needs to be calibrated. Switch on the transmitter, put throttle up full then plug in the battery. Move throttle down until you hear the beeps for how many cells your battery has and then the ESC is calibrated.

    I like that "Buy somthing and fly it already" haha. I love the bird it is beautiful we godda get that baby where it belongs in the air I wonder if the batterie has some bad cells in it,it will read that it is fully charged but as soon as you need some amps it drop downs to nothing.. so just a thought but you know a million times more then I do about these things but I have no dought you guys will have it shooting up into the sky like a rocket in no time...

    If you put a watt meter on that plane, you will see a substantial voltage sag. I heard it as soon as she lifted off. That pack isn't good enough for the high amp draw of the 12 bladed EDF anymore. Do the same with a newer lipo and I can guarantee you won't have that voltage sag. My buddy here in the states flies his on a 5000mah, you shouldn't have any problem with that 4000mah what so ever!!

      I have teated it again at home with new Admiral baterrie and still just 1.1kg of thrust. I just dont know what to think here anymore. Cheers my friend.

    HA HA !! I know why they call it the YAK! When it doesn't fly you can always yak, yak, yak !! roflmao ! What to say eh? Capt Robert you might have a bad cell in the battery. Maybe try 2 smaller batteries in parallel and see what the thrust is eh? Maybe it is still too nose heavy, I didn't see you check the CG. I think you said it was still a little nose heavy. That could be the problem. Who knows. The main thing is that your tried, it was great fun watching you both chatting and discussing, which there is always something to learn for us viewers and besides, we had another look at that beautiful Jak I mean Kak, no Yak yak yak hahaha!! Thanks for the fun and the great video camera work by Capt Blaz. We all know it will fly next time even if you have to hire 2 YAKS to pull it down the runway!! ha ha .. Happy Flying

    Greetings Pilot Robert and Captain Blaz! I had a very similar problem with an EDF setup, which ended in total motor failure (cooked!) in short order. I do not believe you should have drained 40% of the battery with that brief activity and it was evident in the audio that the motor rpm's (and obviously the corresponding fan pressure) were quickly Diminishing. Assuming the battery capacity is OK, I suspect the current draw is excessive and that you have a defective motor and/or an ESC issue. In my case, both were junk and so I replaced both. Of course, this may be even more complex, so I am anxious to hear the results of your "Sherlock Holmes" investigation and diagnosis! And regardless, it was another highly entertaining video! Consider me a forever loyal viewer, if stuff flies or not! Best Regards from an old phart flyer in Ohio!

    Hey Robert do not feel bad because when I had that plans about 4 years ago it was only offered with a 4s. It struggled but once in the air it wasn't too bad. It is definitely heavy and should have been sold with 6s 2200,. When I have an optionof battery capacities what I do if I want bigger battery is I go also up in the c rating discharge.

    My guess would be a damaged cell in the battery, would explain the reduced power and the fast drain time.

    Hey Robert,
    Haven’t read all the comments jet-sorry mabe someone asked already.
    I’am happy to see that the Yack 130 reached your hangar!! I would love to see you guys to compare the Freewing to the FMS Version-because many pilots seem to be not sure wich one is better-or are they both the same?
    All the best for you-you’re doing well on this channel!!!!
    Ps. Normally those inrunner Fan is very powerful-goes in the air by itself after a short way?!

  • @ricchatrc
    @ricchatrc 5 років тому +1

    I think the thrust value is okay. The thrust does not have to equal the weight of the plane unless you want to hover......LOL But then again, because it's a ducted fan, the plane will need a longer time and runway to build up enough speed for take off. You might be trying to lift off with up elevator to soon, causing the plane to slow down because there is no outside propeller pushing air over the wings. Then again, it could be the battery. I trust you will find the problem and I look forward to seeing this model in the air next time...good luck.

    Pilot Robert and Captain Blaz, lovely looking Yak-130.. I was wondering if one of the cells is down or failed on the battery and lacking power. unless weight is the issue with that battery fitted just a thought. Looking forward to the update and second flight of this lovely looking plane.

      There is a little problem with one cell, but I tested the plane again at home with Admiral 50c baterrie and still get the same thrust. Iam still wondering what the hell is going on here. Cheers my friend.

    although i her you said i calibrated the plane but maybe this help:-
    1-start the radio control 2-put the throttle at full 3-start plan 4-the esc will calibration 5-put the throttle back to minimum 6- now check the thrust at full throttle :D

    Hmmm. At 2 kg the Yak is not to heavy but the 1.2 kg thrust is a bit low. 1:1 power to weight would be nice. Great looking jet.
