I really like the Placement of the HECU grunts. Really makes it look as if they took over the facility and are now slowly exploring the place and securing key positions, rather than being randomly placed around the map as enemies like in they were in HL1
I really like the look of those maps , so far it seems to be a slightly more linear combat set based approach and some atmospheric connective tissue (finally something different)
Thats the plan. I'm trying to keep the rythm of set piece, combat, explore and repeat to keep the game flowing, and example being Halo does an amazing job of this. I feel like the origional half-life didn't adhere to this as much. I'm trying to keep the same feel of the origional half-life, whilst modernising it slightly to have a better experience for newer players. It's a challenge, but I belive it'll pay off!
Thank you! I’m practicing more to get the detailing just right! It’s a hard balance between too much and it being way too detailed and losing the half-life vibe, and making it too plain and it being dull to look at. I’m going to be writing an article on it soon! What do you think? Is it too much?
Awesome. I think I liked the old lighting more, but mostly the brightness, there is something wrong about full brightness in GoldSrc to me, I like the previous sun brightness more, I think it's because the game doesn't have any Bloom/HDR features or maybe it just reminds me of full bright. Maybe the color is a little too white too, I think the old lighting was a little more yellow.
This looks cool as fuck. Btw noticed in the description that youre using jack. Theres a newer, better editor that even valve used for the 25th anniversary maps called trenchbroom. Its mostly meant for quake 1 but it has HL support mostly done and is far less annoying to do brushwork with
Yea I did try trenchbroom, before I started using JACK. Wasn't for me unfortunately, I prefer the process in JACK. Trenchbroom uses the more modern way of brushes, but I'm still stuck in my Worldcraft days. After years of using it I can't undo the damage 🤣
@@avix3212 yea, its so cool that there are so many options to use, I even whipped out the old version of worldcraft to begin with haha. Even compiling maps on a I7-7700 compared to a Pentium 233mhz when I first started making maps is crazy, amazing me every time haha

It's mostly achived by having the entity set up to patrol, then providing them nodes to move around on! It's a detail thats missed out quite often!
the peak is coming

@@DeveloperJonny sticking with jack might be best then. Cant wait to see the end result of this mod!
