To this day I get ripped for saying crik instead of creek. What happened to Three Rivers Stadium? I'm originally from Donora, just south west, off of Rt. 51

"cant that where your from JAG" had me dying.
The heavy accents they pulled, reminded me of my mammaw and pap. They were the epitome of Pittsburghese.
The old rustic feel of kennywood in the early 2000's.
Ugh nostalgia is a hell of a drug and I wish I was 6-7 years old again, man..

i watch some of these Pittsburghese shows and this it the first time I heard them say buggy is used for shopping cart. I lived in the area for my first 20 years and never heard that term used that way till many years later when I moved to Texas. I guess Pittsgurghese has changed in the past 50 years

Moved to Pittsburgh from Nova Scotia in 1963 (I was 8 years old) and "Pittsburghese" was the first American accent I had ever heard in my life. I can recognize it anywhere I hear it. Let's keep it up Yinzers!

North vs South I always ignored. Basically because I'm from the East Suburbs edge at Delmont, and now Lawrenceville. Despite going to Franklin Regional, Penn Hillls since a teen was a place i used to know well as well. As a young adult working at a local boutique print shop I spent work time in this city's skyscrapers young and old. With every view I always appreciated what I saw the Greater Pittsburgh Area was my stomping grounds come bridge, bridges, and tunnels. The East side is more intellectual because the colleges are on our side of town. North and South are nice places to live too. Welcome to The Burgh!

That was entertaining. I grew up in the Burgh and have been away for about 20 years. Not sure I would move back, but I do love the town and feel fortunate to have grown up there.

Do you ever "go to the crick," hang your clothes on "racks (hangers)," use "soap powders," put "slishes (slices)" of meat on your sandwich, do you "raise that window down," because it's going to storm? Also, do you hang your clothes in a "clothes press," as full as it was with the whole family's clothes, it probably did "press them." Still LMAO too!

When we were kids (1960’s), we called Mr. McFeely “Touchy McFeeley”!
Former resident of North View Heights and McKees Rocks Terrace c.1960s-1970s.
Helluva way to grow up! No regrets.

I grew up in Pittsburgh but moved to NYC in 1979. I took acting lessons at the Pittsburgh Playhouse at age 13 when I really learned about the accent, one of the most atrocious accents imaginable. The only accent as bad may be Baltimore. I lost the accent at age 13 by trying to get rid of it.
