- "Wonderful Tonight" is a ballad written by Eric Clapton. He wrote the song about Pattie Boyd, his girl friend at the time. She had been married to George Harrison and was the inspiration behind his song, "Something". She was also the inspiration behind two more of Eric Clapton's songs - "Layla" and "Bell Bottom Blues". They were eventually married in 1979. The female vocal harmonies on the song are provided by Marcella Detroit (then Marcy Levy) and Yvonne Elliman.
A timeless classic. I absolutely loved this song the very first time I heard it. It almost exactly described my life when my wife and I were very young. The lyrics depicted this event exactly one Saturday evening. Quite a memory.
Nice comment, Jerome. Thank you.
