I saw them do this live in concert in December. One microphone, 10,000 people and you could have heard a pin drop. The original didn't have any bass but it adds SO much to the song. Spectacular!
I saw them in Kentucky on Dec. 11th, and was in the 2nd row from the stage. I recorded it & it came out so beautifully! I put it on my Facebook page. I thought I had died & gone to Heaven!!!
Having followed them since the first Sing Off appearance - I truly appreciate the full spectrum of their arrangements, genres, style inflections, etc. I can expect, no matter what they're singing, it will be well "orchestrated". I'm grateful for every release. They've pushed a cappella so far into the mainstream - could that have happened with a series of homogenous 5 part recordings? I don't believe so.
Beautiful. Gives me chills! I tend to share originals but I want folks to know they are more than a cover band. I agree, the 5 part harmonies in this were special
I saw them perform this live in Columbus during their Evergreen Christmas tour. They put their mics on the floor, stood in a circle and sang this. You could hear a pin drop! It was breathtakingly beautiful. They have said they have wanted to do this cover for years but are just now getting around to it and it inspired their original “Run to You” Loved your reaction! 💕💕
I couldn't help it. When you were giving your intro thoughts and said that about a fast paced song, I started giggling. I knew what was coming and figured you'd absolutely love it.
At their Christmas concert we heard them sing this song mic-less and we could hear them in the back row because 10,000 PTX fans were DEAD QUIET! It was EPIC! This song encouraged them to write their original song "Run to You". Thank you for your reaction. It was fun to see your surprise when you realized it was going to be totally different than you expected. I LOVE their 5 part harmonies the best, too. My fave was "Run to You" until I heard "My Heart with You". Now this one is my fave.
The version on their evergreen album has another verse in the beginning. This was cut down for time for their Christmas under the Stars special. Also on the album they recorded it differently where you hear Scott in the right ear, Mitch in the left and kirstie hovering over the top. Then Matt and kevin come in. I recommend watching a lot of their performances from that special as it's live amd had very good audio amd video quality since it was professionally recorded. It was on byu TV but I'm pretty sure some fans have put some on youtube.
Your comments are pretty much what most people were feeling. Another reactor saw them do it in concert and came straight home and put this version up. I really appreciate you doing this as it is just so beautiful and strips everything back to their raw talent. All their songs are great and they have a range of talents on show, but I think this cuts out all the showmanship and allows us to listen to world class harmonies and musicianship. They mostly had there eyes shut and were not needing to look for visual clues, they are so in sync with each other.
STUNNING ☀️. I heard them do this live at their Evergreen concert in December and it was SO beautiful, as others have said: off mic and you could hear a pin drop
Recommend their Light In The Hallway for another song they sing in this style. For me, I enjoyed Scott’s higher notes. Yes, Matt’s voice is great in this song. He blends so well with the rest of the group.
The whole concert was amazing you should definitely give it a watch and reaction! I agree with your thoughts on this song! Their harmonies were top notch. Love them so much! Your reactions are one of my favorites!♥️
Their BYU Christmas Under the Stars special was really amazing! Vocal Point, who competed on The Sing-Off the same season as Pentatonix (though the people are different since you have to be a current BYU student to be in the group), jumped in and performed a couple songs with them. It's free for streaming on the BYU channel App.
I was giggling at your prediction for the song. 😂 I was at their Evergreen concert in Columbus, OH and they put their microphones down to sing this and it was absolutely gorgeous.
Yes. Those 5 part harmonies are stunning. If you haven’t reacted to it yet, Run to You is equally beautiful. I believe Avi and Kevin wrote it. Pretty special. 👍🏻
Loved your idea that this would be upbeat, as I knew from watching it earlier, that you couldn’t be more wrong. I’m going to search for the original, and see how much they made it their own.
I was putting a marinade together for dinner (FABULOUS recipe by the way): ua-cam.com/video/o9W8SR3a5Cs/v-deo.html Anyway, while I was doing that, I watched your reaction video. I couldn't help but grin as you made your prediction about the song likely being upbeat, with lots of Matt and Kevin shenanigans. The look on your face as it got going was priceless! I agree with most of your comments. Good reaction video!
I would be first in line to buy an album of 5 part harmonies from them. So good.

Ditto saw them also live in December. I had tears. BEAUTIFUL touches the soul when they sing like this.

Mike and I were fortunate enough to also catch them on the Christmas tour and it was nothing short of amazing.
U have to react to Pentatonix I Saw Three Ships, Carol Of The Bells from that concert.
Yes, I second that.
I third that.

I also love when everyone gets to sing
Stunning! This is simply amazing. Great reaction. A Pentatonix gem!!!

i heard that this is the song that inspired their song run for you and i can hear the similarities in how the structured the harmonies!
Yes Scott confirmed that when he went live for the release of Evergreen.
It's such a beautiful rendition, so calming.
Aww I'm subbing for all the PTX and SF videos ❤️❤️ I love your reacts, thank you for this!
I was giggling at your prediction for the song. 😂

Awesome reaction, thank you so much! I was taken in by this video as well. So intimate, so tender, yet powerful!
I KNEW you would love this!!!
All of the performances from the Christmas Under the Stars concert were fabulous.
The whole special was amazing. You should also watch their version of Carol of the Bells from the BYU TV special.

Our reactions were the same. I can't get enough of this this.
I loved your into!!
I found this very "run to you"-ish. Or their Elvis impersonation -- that was epic, too. The album version has one more verse and is worth hearing.
This was actually the song that inspired them to write Run to You
Very pretty!
Did you hear them do Run to You yet? It's very, very similar!!
Loved your idea that this would be upbeat, as I knew from watching it earlier, that you couldn’t be more wrong. I’m going to search for the original, and see how much they made it their own.
Try your car test on Tim Foust's album "Pieces of Me Vol. 1". Video of "Come Go With Me" for starters.
