  • Tom stopped by the trailer for coffee. He’s done that quite often over the past 40+ years of coming to Jordan for the wheat harvest.
    He told us he was going out to the “rock farm” to check his 50 snare traps. He was in hopes of finding the coyote that had killed several of his sheep.
    And we were invited to ride along.
    As you’ll see, he caught one…hoping it was the one he was after.
    We had lunch at the Hell Creek bar before heading west on an afternoon tour to the Missouri Breaks.

    In the Netherlands there are some wolves that sometimes grab a sheep, but the farmers can't catch the wolves because they are a protected species. Now most sheep are protected by large fences.
    Yesterday it was funny, I was driving the car and suddenly saw a small grasshopper on my dashboard. I think you had that last week too! Regards, Marco

      Wolves and coyotes are different animals. The wolves are protected around here too - but live more in the NW corner of the state.

    Trapper Tom said, “Optimistically hopeful.” I’ve many times wondered what it took to carve out a living in places like this. besides hard work and long hours of course!! Seems to me that though it takes a hell of a man to make it happen, any woman that can tough it out is out of my ability to describe!😅

    How far from Jordan is the Missouri Breaks? I dont see it on google maps.

    • @ZeorianHarvestingTrucking
      @ZeorianHarvestingTrucking  11 місяців тому +1

      I suppose about 45 miles or so. The Missouri Breaks are part of the Missouri River - north of Jordan.

    snares are a horrific way to "hunt". The animal dies a slow, agonizing death I don't understand the fixation on coyote hunting/trapping. I know it's done under the guise of "protecting" the wildlife (of which coyotes presumably belong). I'm no doubt in the minority on this subject.

      The coyote was/is killing the sheep. And when they kill them, they just kill them - most of the time they don’t even attempt to eat them. It’s a financial loss to the rancher.
