the are you scared series is actually on shane and ryan and their buzzfeed coworker steven's channel called watcher. the are you scared series isnt buzzfeed content
It's wild to me after all this time that fans of this show don't know: 1). That the boys have their own channel Watcher 2). That there's a difference between working for a company and Doing work a company. The boys have left Buzzfeed for real. They made an agreement for 2 more seasons each of Unsolved, 4 seasons altogether. They don't work FOR Buzzfeed anymore, they agreed to do some work for them.
@@HueOfBlueMusic I'm talking about contract work. They haven't returned to Buzzfeed, they agreed to do some seasons of Unsolved for them. It's the difference between hiring a salaried employee and hiring an independent contractor.
An analogy would be if you hired someone for a lawyer. Yes they are working for you and your case, but they are apart of a firm usually, which has its own way of doing things. You are giving them money but you aren’t their boss at the end of the day. This analogy doesn’t fill in every aspect of hired work, just more so for this instance. Independent work can be hard to navigate, at least for me, but I’m trying to get better at job contract knowledge after all this messy business with the pandemic.
I wish they had a Solved mysteries show that is exactly like unsolved with all the different theories and suspects and at the end they can actually say who did it. I know they tried a similar thing, but Ryan&Shane really need to still host
Never noticed Ryan's flamingo mug during the Bugsy episode before. It's that attention to detail that buzzfeed will miss when Ryan and Shane step away.
I don’t know why, but when Ryan and Shane say “Let’s do it!” in sync at 0:39, I get really happy! I’ve watched this so many times, but it never fails to make me happy - it’s so clear that no matter what shenanigans they get up to on this show, they’re genuinely close friends, and I think that’s really neat! (note: this has nothing to do with the “Shyan” ship. stop shipping real people together.)
I love the idea of Shane being “a child that wanders” as if he was a cat that sometimes just disappeared for a few days lmao. “Honey, did you put Shane out last night? Haven’t seen him all day”

The Reykjavik case is so weird to me cause I remember hearing about "The Geirfinnur case" throughout most of my life but actually getting into the details I feel so embarrassed that my sweet little homeland messed up this big. Also, last names in Iceland work different so two people having the same last name literally just means the two people had fathers with the same name.
As far as last names go, it’s the same here in the us, too. Just cause two people have the same last name doesn’t make them related. So I wouldn’t say it works differently, at least not from my standpoint 😊 I think Ryan said "no relation" just to clarify for the viewers
@@Violetfire343 True! That of course goes for everywhere in the world! But in Iceland they do construct last names in a different way then US, and Denmark, where I am from. Explained: If I'm a boy in Iceland (let's say my name is: Jack ), and my grandfather is called Dean, and my father: John. My father would be John Deanson, and I would be Jack Johnsson. Same for women/girls: I, myself, am called Marie let's pretend my mother's name is Susanne. So my name would be Marie Susannesdatter (datter=daughter) my daughter's would be Siri Mariesdatter. However, we don't construct last names like that anymore, in DK! It is, of course, how a lot of last names were made! But we don't use that tradition of last names neither in DK or US. In one family we normally have one last name, which both father, mother, daughters and sons are called. That's not how it works in Iceland. So.. Trust the person who are talking about their own country ;)
@@AshtonishingJelly very true. It’s that way everywhere. It’s not that I wasn’t “trusting a person talking about their own country”, I was simply stating things from my standpoint. But also because Ryan and Shane are from the us as well, and that might be why he said what he did. No disrespect meant to anybody.
also the broaddus family finally sold their house on august 12, 2019 (6 months after the unsolved video, and at a several hundred thousand dollar loss)
@@berthaschwarze6704 the broaddus family bought it at about 1.3mil, and it was sold for 954k or something close to that. all things considered could have been a much bigger loss but still sucks :(
@@berthaschwarze6704 there's also normal market factors that can tank a houses value, like neighbourhood changes and the general economy. Probably doesn't help trying to sell with a possible stalker included in the deal
you should always remember what dr. isaac asimov said about puns. the good doctor considered the pun the highest form of humor. and he knew words, he had written a book on every subject in the dewey decimal system, save one.
The last thing I want after vomiting is for my body to think it still should vomit despite not having anything to vomit. Once went to the urgent care because pain was making me vomit, I couldn’t keep swallowed stuff down so they gave me a devolving anti nausea tablet, threw that up because of the taste. After that they just threw up their hand and said to just go to the emergency room. Probably also had something to do with not making it to the toilet in time while waiting, didn’t feel bad so bad that we ended up having to pay when they couldn’t do much. Luckily I’ve never vomited birds or rats. The arm I found laying around down town went down well too.
OK but theory for the Watcher case: it was someone who already knew the family and just chose their new move as an opportunity to hurt them, possibly someone jealous that they could afford such an expensive house. The neighbourhood planning committee denied their petition to demolish the house not because they were in on it but because they were also bitter towards the Broaddus family for having drawn so much attention to the community, and possibly for the family accusing neighbours they thought were responsible for the letters. Knowing such intimate details like the kids' nicknames really just makes me think it's a relative who's secretly bitter.
Donna uhh as far as I know somebody is living there. As of 2019 at least. I grew within 10 minutes of the house but have not been around there for sometime. EDIT: after some light research I found that the house was indeed sold in 2019, for a $400k loss
That was my thought when this was originally aired. A few CCTV would have long ago solved this case or stopped the letters. One or the other. They didn't really want a solution. However I forgot they had DNA. Now is the time for some genetic genealogy.
I can't quite place my finger on it but this series genuinely helps with my anxiety and depression and I have very severe anxiety and depression so it's nearly impossible for anything on UA-cam to connect with me anymore. I just want to give the biggest thanks to Shane and Ryan for making me smile when I thought it's not possible at all. happy viewing to everyone else who's watching 🤍
I want a solved cold case series but Ryan makes Shane be a detective and gives him multiple theories and clues so that he has to guess who the real suspect is Edit (1 year later): how did I predict exactly what their mystery files show was going to be. like what in the world?😂
So...the show. This show. The thing we're watching. Except that "Unsolved" is "Solved". And there is definitely no information on the solved crime in the purblic consciousness. ....Are you suggesting Ryan become a mass murderer? He'd have info only the murderer would know so he'd know how hot on the case Shane is.
plus was it true solitary confinement or were there no other prisoners? If they only do a crime once a year, they can't have too many cell mates, right?
(this may not be 100% accurate it's just how I understand these things go) It's not actually deleted but seen as data that could be written over, so as long as you follow it with a fair bit of googling or browsing, it will still be there, just not available for you to see
Most likely the data will still be logged by your ISP, however they don't share that information with the government, maybe any company that pays them for information like that, the government needs to basically take out a warrant to see that data, this varies state by state, and only applies to the United States, but generally if you use a VPN, it's deleted when you delete it (in which case it's just written over because nothing is ever truly erased, literally.)
There is a trend that I noticed with southern states back in those days. Every Texan had a gun, every Florida resident had a machete, and every Louisiana resident had an axe! Ya see the pattern? I rest my case.
on the watcher case, with the dude knowing their family name but having it misspelled, that kinda gives me the impression he's reading lips, not bugged the house.
Or that he’s heard their last name but just not seen it written. As for the theory that the family did that to throw off the scent. I think that’s kinda obvious no ?
@@balancemaster55 They meant that it could still be bugged and they spelt it like they heard. Just because you hear a last name doesn't mean you'll know how to spell it.
@@tarikbleak I have, but saying "note to self: don't get put in gitmo" is off-topic and irrelevant. Sweden and Iceland are two different places, so they have nothing to do with one another. I don't know why a simple "note to self" is so terribly wrong or whatever

2). That there's a difference between working for a company and Doing work a company. The boys have left Buzzfeed for real. They made an agreement for 2 more seasons each of Unsolved, 4 seasons altogether. They don't work FOR Buzzfeed anymore, they agreed to do some work for them.
is that why they came back to buzzfeed unsolved?
🤷♀️
“They don’t work FOR them, they agreed to do some work FOR them”…Wtf are you talking about
@@HueOfBlueMusic I'm talking about contract work.

Honestly, with the Iceland one…there’s a beach in Iceland that just sweeps you out-you’re gone gone. I’d bet something like that happened
I'm sure all the Iceland natives forgot about that.

"last thing I want after vomiting is to be killed"
Bruh that's the only thing I want when I'm sick and puking, just to make it stop
Yessss kill me now
The last thing I want after vomiting is for my body to think it still should vomit despite not having anything to vomit.
More likely that the family got in over its head with the expensive house and faked the whole thing.
They made a LOT of money off this story.
Ya I still think it was the family in over their heads
The watcher story:
If you have enough money to buy a million dollar home, you’d also be able to buy cameras.
thats a broad assumption, but the air here in New Jersey is so filthy it lowers your IQ by 20 points after a few years of living here.

Donna uhh as far as I know somebody is living there. As of 2019 at least. I grew within 10 minutes of the house but have not been around there for sometime. EDIT: after some light research I found that the house was indeed sold in 2019, for a $400k loss
@@donna4147 it was in the news recently that it was finally sold.
That was my thought when this was originally aired. A few CCTV would have long ago solved this case or stopped the letters. One or the other. They didn't really want a solution. However I forgot they had DNA. Now is the time for some genetic genealogy.
