- Today's video is a two night solo (with Freddie of course) car camping trip to a beautiful seaside town in Northern New South Wales - Yamba. It's only around 2.5-3 hours drive south from where we live but it's somewhere I have never been - but can't wait to return to! Hope you enjoy coming along for our little #carlife adventure and maybe get inspired to plan a little trip yourself. Happy Camping!!!
Welcome to The Sunday Camper my all new adventure channel! I've always dreamed of a life on the road and while full time van life may not currently be an option I realised I don't need to wait until the boys are finished school to start my dream life, I can head out on short road trips away with Freddie every other week using the resources I have available right here and now. We are never guaranteed a tomorrow so stop putting off the things you would love to do 'someday' and make that some day today!

This is such a cute video. Freddie at the 10 minute mark - so funny. My dog does the same thing! ha ha. This has inspired me to try car camping.

Freddie absolutely loves a good camping adventure - at first he didn't seem to like it but now he's the perfect travel buddy - never once complains about my driving, song selections, car karaoke, travel destination choices 😂
Can’t wait to try overnight camping once my Rav 4 arrives - but that’s not for another eight months.

I loved your camping trip with Freddie. The scenery, the sound of ocean, birds and the kangaroo with the baby were nice to see and hear . The video was like a mini vacation for me. Best part was that you were able to visit with your sister and baby niece. 😊 thank you for sharing.

Ahhhhhhhhh I ❤️ Kangaroos! ..... and your niece is gorgeous just like her auntie!
The kangaroo with the joey was just too much!!! I was worried as they were just on the side of a road and didn't want to scare them but they seemed very chill and right at home in the person's front yard!!!

Great video ,if you turn off just before Wardell Bridge heading North you will drive along to Empire Vale (I lived there as a kid)and the smallest Post Office in Australia I believe across from Primary School ( badly affected by flood hopefully ots still there 🤷♀️)which I attended late 70s,80s 😀 its a nice drive along the River and you can catch the Ferry across to Ballina or take a drive out to South Ballina Wall great Caravan park out there too. Lots of cane farms and Macadamia too I believe haven't been back since Covid.
I came in from the North side of the bridge but didn’t drive across the bridge!!! I love macadamias my sister used to bring big bags when she visited we have a dedicated macadamia nut cracker 😅🥰
@@THESUNDAYCAMPER I meant if you are heading North from other side of Bridge 😁as in coming from Broadwater . Evans Head is another lovely seaside town worth a visit we also use to camp at Jerusalem Creek lots of black face Wallaby's use to be in camp too but that was probably 20yrs ago now 😀

I drive a Kluger and it has the same annoying default cruise control function.. but you can turn it off !! (Assuming that it is similar) when you turn on the cruise control, hold and press the cruise control button for a few seconds and it will turn that function off. Then your cruise control will work like normal.

It was great to virtually visit Yamba again! Lived there for 6 years and nothing seems to have changed 😄. Kmart there used to be Country Target 😂. I’m not sure if it’s still there but Sweet and Spicy cafe in Yamba was amazing and was our all time favourite!
The plantation towards end of your video are Macadamia trees in Wardell.

I must say I'm admittedly spoilt for choice for gorgeous beaches and seaside towns on the Sunshine Coast but it's always a treat to go somewhere new.

Yamba was gorgeous!!! So many people I know always rave about it but I had never taken the time to visit - I think it's the newer model car that makes me feel a lot more confident taking longer driving trips so a lot of exploring to come!!!

This was so much fun. I live in Bangalow and work in Ballina, and also did some work in Wardell after the floods (all the locals know the pies there are really good!!). I was in Yamba earlier this year and knew all the spots you went to. Made sure to not skip the ads so you can buy one of those beachfront properties 😉 Can’t wait to see where you and little Freddie go next x
Oh I love driving through Bangalore when I go down to Lismore it gets so busy on weekends there though!! I can’t wait to get back with the boys for another pie at Wardell 🥰♥️

There are settings for your radar cruise, you can set the car length distance or just turn it into regular cruise control, just youtube it. Great video btw
Thanks for watching and for taking time to leave a tip!!! - so far I have only been able to adjust the setting by three different increments by sensitivity, the lowest is like it's not even on and the middle one is better but then I always think what if I actually had a crash and needed the most sensitive setting 😅 I just have to get used to driving in the slower lane 🙃
What a lovely video it’s really made my day I live in Whitley Bay in the north of England and some of those beaches looks the same as in the summer here what was the temperature there it’s very sad that dogs are not allowed on a lot of the beaches even though they look to be miles along the beaches by me there’s always an area for the dogs to run I didn’t see any dog wardens anyway my dogs Millie and Charlie send Freddie a big hug keep safe keep free best wishes from Lynda
It's so annoying so many beaches in NSW were not dog friendly - you can take your dog on pretty much every beach in Queensland - excluding the flagged patrolled swimming areas!!! The temperature was around 10-17 degrees night - day when we were there so VERY cold for us!!!
Loved this video! I grew up on the east coast of the US and haven't been home for a visit in a little more than a year. Seeing the ocean sights was like visiting home and Australia all in one. I completely squealed seeing the kangaroo (my dog was very concerned lol). I'm really enjoying the dash cam shots driving around and seeing places I've never been.
Ahhh the baby joey stole my heart!!! I also love seeing travel videos from places like the US Korea and Japan - it's a great reminder it's such a beautiful world we live in!

Oh that sounds amazing!!! The city we live in is close to the water but actual beaches are about an hours drive away - still pretty close by ⭐

I’ve started getting my little hatchback organised for some camping trips soon. I can’t wait. I love road trips. We live near the beach just north of Sydney, so I’ve been spending a bit of time in my car at the beach throughout winter during the day on weekends, it’s pretty comfy, so I’m sure I can make car camping work. My retirement plan is to do van life at least for a couple of years.

Getting out and car camping has seriously been one of the best things I have done in the last few years!!! My sister and niece are doing much better than I thought I still wish she lived closer ♥️🥰♥️

Your little niece is so beautiful and I hope your sister is going Ok. I noticed one word from you and Freddie does as he pleases haha, so cute. Also do you get bored at night in the car when you have to settle in for the night so early ? Fun video and yes Yamba is a lovely spot.
My sister is doing better than I thought anyone would be able to considering what she has been through and she is such a great mum - I was worried as she is the youngest and had no younger siblings to really take care of but she is just a natural!!! I still wish she lived closer than 2.5 hours away...
