I Have Both Bikes, the 230s is a really nice bike. I didn't expected much but it really surprised me for good. The CRF300L by the other hand surprised me, but in disapointment, it has the worst suspension that you can find on a bike, total rubbish, it's a fast bike but rides awful. The KLX300 would be perfect, but it's not available here. :/

Totally agree about the suspension, I upgraded to YSS both ends.
