Regine was unparalelled and unchallenged sa mga panahon na ito. It's from this Metropop year that Jaya was introduced with her unique soulful, R&B sound, and when Lani was finally noticed with her beautiful voice. I remember when we played the cd sa kotse that we were captivated by Lani's voice and wondered who she was. Sure enough, in the few following years, Jaya's career took off and was pitted against Regine. Then Lani's career also took flight and given the title Asia's Nightingle which automatically challenged Regine's title as the Asia's Songbird. And the Philippines' Vocal Trinity was born.
