This weekend saw the first ever MusicalCon arrive in London, a convention celebrating musical theatre fandom in the UK!

It’s health and safety, they are about to pack down and insurance wise it’s not covered to have under 16s there when pack down is going on. We have done shows in similar venues where it’s the same

@@taylor11111 Where all the equipment gets removed - so the sound and lighting equipment from the stages, and things like that. At any convention type events I've been to, they don't start that until all members of the public have left the venue.
It was so lovely to meet you and I am actually super excited that I spotted myself in the crowd as the doors opened
I would love an In the Heights revival here on the west end, however only if they actually cast Latin actors
It's so bizarre to see the Excel hosting a convention for just musicals fans - I was one of the first musical cosplayers turning up to MCM Comic Con at that venue, years ago, and the thought that there might be a whole convention just for us? Total daydream. Didn't make it this year, but hopefully will make it next year... and hopefully they put it slightly earlier in the year, one week before Comic Con in the same venue reduced their audience by a chunk. Anyone travelling to London had to choose between Musical Con, or the established, massive social event of Comic Con this weekend.

I saw ads for this and was worried it would be dreadful (other comic/sci-fi cons at the same location have been shocking) so decided to wait and see. It's seems sooooo amazing and well organised! One of my favourite parts of cons is the independent artists selling their creations and the workshops and performances looked incredibly fun! Thanks for sharing. I'll start prepping my cosplay for next year! 🎶
The booths are full of crap, nothing remotely that I would want to buy.

Does anyone know what happened that under 16s had to leave?
IDK but I think it's a curfew because the central concourse is public access but it's private property - they've had problems with local "Youth" hanging around and making trouble. It's weird how this massive, massive convention centre has a few hotels, then just residential areas around it, it's a local neighbourhood!
@@BellePullman Someone suggested they were starting to dismantle equipment and generally pack up the event, and it was an insurance thing.

Wanted to! Lip syncs to recorded songs would have made it very difficult for UA-cam sadly 🙁
