Nice. Yes that is a mortise lock as the lock body is installed in the cavity made in the door called a mortise. The proper term for that kind of cylinder is a profile cylinder. The name euro comes from Europe where mortise locks using profile cylinders are the norm, where as North America uses mostly tubular locks and deadbolts. From the ALOA dictionary profile cylinder n. a cylinder with a usually uniform cross section, which slides into place and usually is held by a mounting screw. It is typically used in mortise locks of non-U.S. manufacture.
@newhouselockandkey man, that's how I'm feeling. I love locksport and locks, and now all I want to do is my passion. Did you start on your own or a company?
@newhouselockandkey I am moonlighting at first. I still have a day job until I can have a solid system made up. I'm gonna go grab your email and twist your ear when I need to if that's ok?!
Who is the lock designed to limit entry or exit? Looks as though this is a screen door. Even if the door panel is glass, the thumb latch will make entry relatively easy. By some city codes, a key is required on both sides with a glass panel. Curious. Thanks.
It very well could be, needed to be double keyed. With this particular door, the only reason for this lock to tonsecure from a dog jumping up on the lever handle and opening the door by mistake. I would not use this as a primary form of security. With that, by locking it anyway to allow the doorbell sensor and camera to go off and provide that one extra line of slowing down.🤙💜✌️
Great to see an actual installation of a euro cylinder. Thank you.🙏🦊👍
Thank you, sir! ✌️💜🤙
