I'm getting sick and tired of gamestop not letting you make online purchases for delivery. Why even have that as an option that shows items in stock if you wont let a person check out.
I’ve noticed the markets getting out of hand too. I look on eBay and goodwill online stores, and I’ve seen above market prices for the retro gaming market. The current poor state of gaming in this generation, is increasing the value of the retro games. The current resell market is making me back off, prices are unreasonable. I just saw a copy of PS1 Namco Museum going for $30. 🤦♂️
I found that game at goodwill used but brand spanking new not a single scratch and it had the receipt someone bought it the day of. Release sold it for 50 $ complete bought for 3$
If GameStop's catching up, then the second hand retro market's on a F1 car because of how crazy fast prices inflate. Fall of Cybertron is like $70-$75 CIB second hand now apparently. It's actually NUTS.
The economy is tough right now, and I've seen a lot of older games like Madden 21 listed for around $20 in my local marketplace. Everyone's trying to make a quick buck, so it wouldn't shock me if someone scoops them up at a thrift store for just $5, thinking they can flip them for three or four times that amount. Over time this will encourage more reseller than buyer.
This is actually the perfect storm for a crash. Just give it some time and you will see retro prices crash. You have GameStop, ebay and marketplaces overcharging with an expensive economy and people will leave the hobby.
I dunno, with the exception of pokemon games and super rare stuff I found their prices fairly reasonable compared to other used game shops. I might have just lucked out.
I've seen vintage stuff both higher & lower than "market" price at my local gamestops recently. Today I found a complete copy of Resident Evil 2 (Greatest hits edition) for the ps1 at gamestop for 34.99. Price Charting shows it at $45, copy on ebay for sale at $35. I picked it up bc every part of it (case, manual & discs) were in flawless condition. It's not a super high value game, but it's also not a very common game at my local independent game shops either. I did notice they are now carrying the Limited Run NES & Sega games, which I'd like to hear your thoughts on, if you've played any of those games. Keep up the videos!
The amount of people who want the games and paying these prices is just how any market works

The retro game market is dying slowly but speculators keep trying to pump the numbers up artificially and it isn't working.

Games are getting expensive maybe because they’re not making them anymore
No. It’s because people have been telling everyone all the tricks on how to get games cheap. So now those places are changing
