It was because Matt wanted to get rid of the "metalcore" tag. That's when he quit screaming and everyone in the band got their "thrash" look. When the band was criticized even more for being a metallica rip-off after The Crusade, Matt quit his bullshit fake "thrash" look and started doing what he does best, play metalcore. He was very worried in the past, about how people look Trivium as a non-true metal band. Good for him and for us that he doesn't seem to care anymore.
Indeed, and real Metalcore should sound like them and killswitch/aild/all that remains/old BFMV (melodic, tharshy) Sadly kids around 2010 fucked the genre up and thats why ppl dont call metalcore non-metal genre now... These days metalcore is joke, putting heavy stuff from pc in songs and no one cares about melodic parts, so sad...
Wrong, he basically lost his voice around this time and he said in an interview that he couldn't scream at the time because his voice was messed up so he had to do a whole set for this
@@GeorgeZimmermenwhich sucks, but hes been their best drummer in terms of songwriting. His parts were always cool sounding but always served the song, unlike quite a few of his successors. As for tempo issues, the rest of the guys were no better, playing needlessly fast as well
@@Squall6575 they were only following the drummers tempo. That’s how it works. I’ve seen Travis live many times from 2006-2009 until they kicked him out
@@GeorgeZimmermen while travis is responsible for setting tempo, lets not act like these 20 somethings werent going out there trying to play their fastest and hardest in those years, because thats 100% what they were trying to do. They finally slowed down at like 2014 when they started playing to clicks
The Reason he doesn't scream here, is because it's hard to false chord scream and sing in the same show... cause his voice was fading away a little when he was screaming. He said in Interview on the Making of Shogun
Watch after 5:42 for the vocals that were screaming in the original song but they suddenly decided to just bark it softly in anthem we are the fire vocals see instantly the crowd stops moshing
Their live performances are now more tidy since they found their new drummer, Alex Bent. But I get you, for many years their performances were inconsistent since they went through 3 drummer changes. But I think Trivium is settling in on Alex Bent and their performances are better than they were.
i agree with mechaghost. Personally im not too big of a fan of their Metalcore stuff, i like the Thrash Metal stuff alot more. That is just my opinion, just like your opinion of think it sucks.
lol It sounds better than their screamo. When every band uses screamo it gets old and boring to mad hell, makes every band sound the same. The albums where Matt sings are their best ones, and I wish I could have seen this era of Trivium where Matt only sang. I honestly believe Trivium were in their prime here.
@@gibramrivera-yv2lo LOL! If we're going to apply this guy's logic, we might as well say that thrash bands are also boring because most thrash vocalists use aggressive raspy singing😂
I love Dan trayban. I've been watching concert a long time. I'll let d*** metal, so have you metal or by the way, my name is Jeffrey. I love you battle in band for honey years. I've been watching deshawn years. I love you to aben and I'll see you again. I will see you again. Count to my party dry on , come to balboa

You’re the real MVP here.
Saw trivium 3 tikes during this crusade era in 2006-2007. Seen them 14 tikes since

From a die hard thrash metal fan I'd prefer this trivium
Ember to inferno, the crusade, and shogun
Shai Hulud fans dude thrash fucking rules I think this trivium is the best trivium
Now he's more metal than before, because he mixes metalcore with thrash, death and other metal styles.
Indeed, and real Metalcore should sound like them and killswitch/aild/all that remains/old BFMV (melodic, tharshy)

Trivium were way out of everyone's league at this time :D
Bfmv trivium a7x
3 matt
And they have all played there afaik
Travis was an absolute bad ass with his time in Trivium
And off tempo always speeding up the songs

he's lying, he wanted them to sound more like Metallica but it backfired and they just sounded dumb.
@@bubbacallingit’s also because they didn’t want to be ‘metalcore’ anymore, trivium wanted to be a ‘real metal’ band
Well first of all he doesn’t use false chord but fry scream and the reason he doesn’t scream is for the aforementioned
You make it sound like it didn't work. The Crusade and Shogun were awesome albums
Love matt style at that moment

Matt had to learn to scream the way we does today. It was a bit of training i think.
Matt Heafy in his 20 years have a voice that Hetfield have only in 40
HWhat
Huh?
I was there...totally sick but drunk... :D
Matt looks somewhat like Kylo Ren here!
btw. that was Crusade time ... so :D
Matt Heafy sounds a lot better live now in my opinion
Trivium of 2006-th yeras - best Trivium.
When travis was still around I think their live performance was more tidy, compared to now..

why did he want to get rid of the metalcore tag?
whats wrong with metalcore its fucking sick
I’m glad Matt grew out of the “hetfield” style 😂. Saw them twice on the 2023 American tour before the haters chime in 😂😂😂

metalcore and thrash combined --> trivium back then
metalcore, death metal and metalcore --> trivium nowadays (kinda)
I would include melodic death metal and power metal with those influences
or maybe it was cause he was only like 17-18 here.. and he may have damaged them recording accendancy
About 20
Paolo tinha cabelo.
O som da banda era muito diferente
Perfect
Why Travis didn't do double bass in this performance..?
I think it's just the crappy festival mix. I could barely hear any kick drums at all.
16:11 fack yeah Matt
I could send the original video for Sky Drive?
11:32 Explode

Fuck, they sucked so bad at this point Haha.
Trivium suck.
Really weird for you to come here to a Trivium video to comment that, just saying.
@@CoTeCiOtm it came up on my feed. I’ve seen them live twice & they legitimately suck. They are unoriginal & the bald guy can’t sing.
Bfmv > trivium
hell no
bfmv = trivium
Depends on era, but modern trivium is way better than modern BFMV
