Lol My late voice teacher, who was once vocal coach to 17-year-old "Bobbie Peters" (coloratura Roberta Peters), used to tell me that I reminded her of Eileen Farrell, so I had to listen to her recording. I have a recording of the same lied, sung on a Vero Beach Opera Young Artists' Concert from 2008. I had to work with an accompanist I'd just met 30 minutes before the concert, and he either had great difficulty playing the accompaniment (which, to be fair, is essentially an orchestral reduction) or he intentionally schmaltzed it up with a lot of rubato, similar to this recording. 😄 Either way, I really struggled with phrasing because prior to this performance, I hadn't sung "Schmerzen" for about 20 years, when I was in college (I had just turned 45 a week before my recording.)
