I'm so glad to hear I'm not the only one who takes so long to finish a piece. I feel like I need to "live" it in order to paint it. Sometimes the "living" takes time
Oh my goodness, that's exactly what it is! Love that you articulated it. I feel like I become something with the art... and it usually takes time

I follow a number of artists on UA-cam - discovered you a week or so ago. What tickled me was that you turned 40! Oh, my dear Jess, I'm turning 80 next week! Thank all the gods I'm in good health and intend staying that way...
I've used art materials since aged 7-ish and have always had a bit of a struggle with "style"... yeah, that. I've done The Artist's Way twice before and have just started for the third time as I felt totally blocked - many reasons. BUT... the good news is that things started happening on Day 4! So, I've let my inner artistic child loose in the field of all possibilities. And she's playing like she's 7 again!

Hello, and welcome! Very tickled that you are watching from South Africa (I assume you are still there?) An huge congrats on your upcoming birthday. I am one of those curious people who feels like I'm getting younger, with age. Although sometimes my body disagrees ;) Wishing your inner child a joyful and wildly creative 80th year of living!
@@studioxjess Oh, slight misunderstanding as I only told part of my story. I relocated to Cyprus in 2001 and that's where I live very happily 😊

love these paintings Jess! so inspiring!- did I see correctly? painting the canvas with a house paint as a primer? Also- love your painting pants but u must be very careful..There no paint on them? I want to paint a large canvas too! My dream is to paint large abstracts! hugs!!
Get yourself a big canvas! Love it. I have a few overalls and one is specifically for the "messy bits" :D although I did just get black oil paint on these. Haha. And yes I use house paint throughout the entire process! I use it when I want a matte effect, usually as a wash or to cover specific shapes. I figure if it worked for Pollock it'll work for me
