I hope you see this I received my bearings for the handle knobs. I installed them in 2023 Daiwa legalis 3000,2023 daiwa lexa 3000, Shimano Ultegra 2021 3000, 2021 Shimano Nasci 4000 (it had 1 sealed bearing and a bushing in the knob). All the reels were turned into fidget spinners! The knobs are incredible. They spin so fast and smooth. No play at all on the two Shimano. They both had play in the knobs and I use the shims you provided and it fix that immediately. I also replaced the line roller bushings on my 2023 Daiwa Legalis 2000 spins beautifully! Thank you very much. Keep up the good work.
I had to replace the line roller bearings back to the bushing as the bearings were making a grinding noise. Not sure what is going on but the open face bearings don't look like they would prevent dirt or weeds from going in them. The ceramic knob ones are great though and knob spins freely.
if you hear grinding noise, something is not right. U can reach out to me in email if u want refund or replacement. There are no closed bearings of that size because they are too narrow. However i have fished them long enough to know that this is not an issue for freshwater fishing. I can promise you, if u get dirt or weeds inside the line roller, and into the plastic bushings. operation will be affected just the same and u would have to open and clean it. But perhaps u don't have to buy new bearings.
do me a favor, remove one of your shims. When u wobble the line roller with your nail, there should be just a little bit free play, but not much. I think if u use both that creates too much space and unnecessary wobble which may be the reason for your noise
@ifishcatfish I will try this and let you know how it works, I also will try to get the housing to sit perfectly! I also wanted to let you know those minibea abecs I tried have drastically improved the feel of my reels, best part is they are quiet! One of my reels had a burr on the bushing, so the reel feels smoother now also!
@@12345B I just finished recording the video. I have no washers in my reel and it runs perfect. Literally just replace the metal bushing with bearing. If you want some extra free play u can use one washer, but no more than that. I will try to edit and publish tomorrow. Sahara is even easier than Legalis, but to be 100% honest, i did it quite a few times myself the first time until i figure the right way to put these parts there : )
@ifishcatfish thanks so much for the update, I will try this again, I originally installed with zero shims but had scraping, I think you where right that I did not get the housing to sit correctly, I will be happy to await your video! Thanks so much for great 1 on 1, I sung your praises to all my UL friends, u are a star
These bearings fit my 2023 Legalis 2500 but the spacer is different so you can only use one bearing on the back side which is fine ...still makes it a lot better and the back side bearing is plenty to support it with the bushing in front ..also keeps the water out
sorry to hear that. I guess you have a spare now : ) I can't afford to buy all sizes to test them. But i will update the product information with your feedback now!
On my 2023 Exceler the parts diagram shows the part number called "Collar(F)" goes on the outside but you placed it on the inside at minute 8:59 to 9:40. So which way is correct, inside or outside?? I think I took mine from the outside when I disassembled it, but then found it difficult to put it back because it didn't feel right. Thanks for the bearings.
I don't have that reel but I am 99% certain. If they don't fit i will give u a refund. Sizes 1000 to 4000 alsways have the same line roller, but... i have not confirmed it personally in this model.
it seems like i can't do both bearing like how you're doing yours. Somehow, the bearing i purchased from om you for the 23 legalis line roller is slightly thicker just by a hair. so i ended up doing 1 bearing at the back and 1 bushing on the front. i have the 2000sp and xh btw
the letters dont matter, u should still fit both bearings. Yes, they are a hair thicker than the bushing, but there is extra space there and it works perfect. Do just like the video and both will fit!
Hi, do you think exceler 2023 would be better or the same as Legalis 2023? Because i dont like that gold on new legalis, i wanna buy 2000 size and from specs seems to be almost the same reel but different design.
From my short experience with handle knob of penn authority 4500 and shimano stella 6000hgc the knob of shimano knob will run almost 4 times longer than that of authority , and i guess this is due to the ball bearings seal is more tighter with authority which more wellcome for good water protection.
great tutorial, well done. I have one question. what is the purpose of this black "bridge" above the line roller? it is connected to bail. does it have any function?
Every reel in the world has free play in the handle, including Vanquish, Exist and Stella. That is the only way to have low resistance. Also, don't forget the legalis is a $60 reel, you don't want to have unreasonable expectations. And, no, radial play cannot be 'fixed'. Axial play can be adjusted but not radial. If the bearings have no free play the balls will run very tight
@@Thebankfisher No. Shimming the gears can ONLY reduce axial play. But he is talking about radial play, and there is no fix for that, other than getting bearings with tighter tolerances. Bearings will tighter tolerances will have more resistance. There is no fix for radial play
Little Update from Germany. I ordered 2 Legalis 23 Lt 1000D, because of the smoothness, you talked about and because of the screw in handle. The german model has no screw in handle. I'm totally disappointed and send both reels back😭
just for screw in handle??? A bit extreme... did it even have free play? And let me ask you, was it golden handle on the first place? Or did u order the old model?
Hello! I have a lexa 23 3000 and a fuego 23 5000, and i wish to upgrade the line roller with these bearings. However it seems that its out of stock in your website. May I know if you are planning to restock these bearings soon?
in 3 weeks or so. The bearings were shipped by sea. I don't know if these large reels use the same bearings. I have Sahara 4000 use the same bearings as Sahara 2000, so its possible, but i don't know for sure..
If there’s an existing bearing you don’t need to replace it. And if you want no resistance when the bearing is spinning just clean it and it’ll spin smooth, fast, and freely. The resistance in the bearing is from it being dirty or there’s some sort of lubricant in it.
Also, this location sees a lot of water. All bearings with time will corode and develop deposits and thats not sometjing u can clean.. Can u clean the bearings in the wheelhub of your car? This bearing sees a lot of miles and a lot of spinning
@@ifishcatfish yes, a bearing on a wheel hub can be cleaned and be rebuild if you have the proper tools to disassemble it because it’s not a sealed bearing just like the bearings on most fishing reels, none sealed bearings. I agree that the bearing can rust but how many people dip their reels under water, I’m sure you don’t. And yes it can rust if you surf fish but for fresh water it’ll most likely not rust but just get dirty. The miles you put on your reel does not determine rust it’s how you take care of your reels. I’m not trying to throw you under the bus but that’s just what I know as a regular spinning reel maintenance. But don’t take my comment negative because I love your videos and learned a lot from it, thanks. I also just purchased from your online store. 😊
@@ifishcatfish I agree with you but I’m just proposing that if there’s a bearing there it doesn’t need to be replace. And if it’s dirty it doesn’t need to be replace. I’ll tell you my opinion, little to nothing. I upgraded most of my shimano FL reel bearings and it’s slightly smoother but performance is the same, my personal opinion.
