For the past view years I’ve been playing yamcha pretty consistently, for the past few months I stopped but since rollback is out I’m back and playing again. I suggest using a very good neutral assist, I use ginyu b assist because it is very helpful in neutral as well as combos. Yamcha struggles in neutral but with neutral tools he’s a lot of fun! Just to list a few good Yamcha players: EU's Jila, Wu2king, Kelso2times, FaisalDante, Faultything and Reynald have all used Yamcha consistently at one point in their competitive career. I think Wu2king is the only one who still plays yamcha out of this list, but he barely plays DBFZ as is. There are more yamcha players out there, but this is my list of recommendation. I definitely learned yamcha the most from Faulty, FaisalDante and Jila. As you'll see from this list, Zamasu and Majin Buu have really good synergy with Yamcha. Majin Buu's fat throw reset works so well with Yamcha A assist.
its so crazy how much the popularity of characters in dragon ball affects how explored they are in fighterz. yamcha actually looks like he has crazy mix but ive also literally never seen anyone play him against me, probably in part just because hes yamcha and not goku or vegeta or some combination of the 2.
Just so you know Yamcha has a frame trap that looks like a misinput. If you have already used your smash then in corner you can do 2H-superdash-j5M-j2LL-jumpcancel-j2L(delay)LL 214M and when you land instantly do 214L and you are still plus so you can do beat jabs with 5L or 2L. It's weird but tech is tech.
@cafequente8252 it's just a small delay in the light auto combo to push yamcha a bit higher. It's like how when Base Vegeta does his loops he has to put a small gap in the j5LL or else it just drops.
doto is a content creator tho he knows the absolute basics of the game but won’t really provide much input for someone trying to learn yamaha competitively

Like EVERY time he landed a beam property he used vanish to convert. You can do loops with wff light versions, you start with 2M 5M to get the opponent at the correct hight for the loops to work. 2M 5M 234LL 234S (d)2L 234LL 234S (d)2L 234LLM -> this only works in the corner. You can also do a rejump too. 2M 5M 234LL 234S SD (air)5M (d)(air)5H 449L -> Assuming you are on the left side of the opponent and that the opponent is a little close to the corner as the rejump only works in the corner.

Tien C might be good, it has fast startup (faster than a beam) and gives a psuedo SD 50/50 midscreen with his 2M cuz of high blockstun, if they block a ki blast on the ground and you call it they're locked down and the dhc damage is high
Hey new tech I just found but you can actually combo 236L and 236H off of beam so you don't have to use 5L or 2M to get that conversion. It saves the hitstun and you might be able to get different combo routes pairing with Zamasu
I feel like dbs broly could fill in that role of being the anchor for the team. He can take advantage of yamcha’s ex and can confirm into it with j.2H or you could use baby.
If you are checking out old Yamcha players for ideas, you should watch Jila instead of Kaz. Jila was still playing Yamcha during the fusion meta off and on. He is a way more recent example.
Faisal Dante also played the Zamasu Yamcha shell for a while. It was before special tag and while Zamasu was still garbage for most of the time he was on the shell, but there should be some stuff you could steal from him too.

@@blazaybla22 The value of the shell has changed over time and at this point I think it's bait. I think both characters have better partners now. Zamasu's routing and mix ups were significantly more assist restrictive in the past, so the value of the shell was maximizing the little bit that Zamasu had at the time. Zamasu couldn't cancel his special moves into flight, so the blockstun requirement for his flight mix was way higher in the past. The lack of flight cancels and the slower 214X made it so he only got good combos with a handful of assists. Yamcha A did both of those things for him when he had nothing else. Now that the character is better he doesn't need Yamcha A anymore for good routes or mix ups. The only uniquely strong part of the shell is the 236H tag mix, but it's not very good. Zamasu has really poor solo routing even now, so you're going to spend half a bar and an assist while putting yourself into meter penalty. Then even if you get the hit unless you won neutral without using either assist and your whole team is still alive, you're only going to do like 35% while barely building the bar back from the 236H. You're going to three touch constantly because of that. Zamasu also gets a really good tag ender from Yamcha 236H, but it's just not good enough imo. Yamcha would much prefer characters like SSJ4 or Roshi imo. Zamasu would prefer characters like Gotenks, Beerus, or Baby imo. Yamcha is Gotenks at home for Roshi and that's still pretty good for him since Gotenks is by far his best partner. Roshi gets the exact same tag mix as Zamasu with j3S off Yamcha 236H and he also gets a good tag ender off Yamcha 236H with tag j2L DR 214S. Roshi gets good solo damage, so his version of the 236H tag mix is significantly better because you can consistently two touch off it. Roshi can win neutral pretty easily without an assist, but he struggles to open people up at times. Having a lockdown assist like Yamcha A or Gotenks B is really nice for him. Gotenks gives him the exact same tag mix and enders that Yamcha does btw. That shell is ham. Yamcha is just worse Gotenks for Roshi and that's good enough. SSJ4 gets tag mix off Yamcha 5LLL tag, so he doesn't even to spend meter to do it. You do 5LLL tag SSJ4 fast fall jM into IAD jLM fuzzy vs land 2M. That one only works in the corner though afaik, so it's better in some ways and worse in others. While on point SSJ4 can gaplessly set up the fuzzy with Yamcha A or do the double airdash left right midscreen. They both also have DPs, so you get to take advantage of Yamcha being able to make his level one pretty safe with DP level one DHC into Yamcha level one to make yourself safe-ish. Even if you get punished after doing that, you normally eat a way weaker punish than if you let them just punish the DP. If you really like Yamcha and Zamasu, it's a good shell, but it's far from optimal for either character. I would only suggest playing it if you really want to play both of the characters. I think the Zamasu Yamcha shell is min maxed around Yamcha 236H tag now and other characters can do that better while being a stronger more well rounded shell.

Yeah his main team is Jiren A Krillin A Yamcha A. Something to note is he uses Yamcha as an anchor tho.
