This track is so beautifully weird and wonderful, just like all the Alice music. Long ago I downloaded the soundtrack of the first game and I used to fall asleep to it every night! I have probably never heard more creative, unique and evocative music ANYwhere. This Queensland track comes closest to replicating the beautiful dissonant surreality/serenity of the first games music. As a whole, the second games soundtrack was somehow a different animal from the first and yet it all fit beautifully into the series as well! I really loved both games and their music and my life's been enriched by both. Maybe that sounds weird but damnit, you just don't find such weird, imaginative beauty (visual or aural) every day.
How about a series that covers the events from all the games? From the fire, to the Asylum, to Bumby, all the way to Londerland, and perhaps further if McGee joins in.

Too bad EA cancelled any funding for future games because it didn't follow their bullshit money quotas, and the main development studio Spicy Horse shut down not long after! At least American McGee and some other people are working on a prequel to this game and possibly even the first game, the project is named Alice: Asylum, and is supposedly gonna be about her time in Rutledge Asylum. Personally, that sounds awesome. Remember that it was during Alice's time in the Asylum that I'm pretty sure Wonderland was initially created. I'm pretty sure you can even see that in the first game...
Can't even explain how much this game/soundtrack/story means to me. When I'm super depressed I find so much solace in listening to the soundtrack and always manage to find my way back to wonderland. A welcome reprieve.
This track really makes you feel like Alice decimated it the last time she was there, like finding the corpse of a monster killed long ago which I guess is pretty accurate to what the queen once was.
Behold my dear Alice, the ruins of a beautiful Kingdom. A Kingdom from once astonishing size. That faded away slowly, in the mind of a ignorant child...

+Darkest Abstract I agree. The QueensLand is definitely awesome and also the part where we play Alice in the Asylum,I think that was my top fave.I wish they didnt make some levels so long in the same area and they should have made many different levels in other settings, just to switch it up some, this is an amazing game though,I just would have liked a change of atmosphere more often in it.
I personally loved the whole game EXCEPT that weird Asian-oragami-china vase part. That part just didn't click with me and felt grueling. Everything else was stunning. However, the card castles in the sky was the most stunning of all. When I hit that part I had to stop playing and just stare at my screen in awe. Everything was so perfect.
Perhaps give it time. 'Sanity' is something that the world is running out of, and it's been said before that people react violently to what they don't understand. But returning misunderstanding with bitterness gets no one anywhere. @@evanallaire2829, well, yes and no. Yes because the Red Queen is conjured from Alice's memories of Lizzie before the fire, kinda like how the Dollmaker is supposed to be Bumby, but no in the sense of the real world because Wonderland is all in Alice's head...
This chapter is quite macabre. And if the person is too sensitive, they may even feel uncomfortable with the bizarre scenario. And the chapter's theme song helps immerse the place.
For a true gamer, games are art. Is a art that you can play with and even manipulate it. Is the ability to live IN this piece of art, is like a second life. When you're tired of this stupid reality, play you're favorite game, and find yourself in a world were everything is possible. Alice: Madness Returns is so far one of the best games I ever saw, especially for its story. It's dark, yet beautiful. Innocent, yet insane...

Listening to this track and seeing the destruction around Alice and then hearing that voice whispering 'Stay away!' I got goosebumps. Let's say I wanted to, but the story had to proceed...
Chapter 4 is a very well done chapter. The atmosphere is so scary its so cool to explore. Like something is wrong with the place. I love this game so much. I felt a strong connection.
As someone who only played Madness Returns with only some minor knowledge on what happened in this first game this chapter was fucking amazing to play through, not knowing exactly what went down before and seeing everything literately in ruins with barely any signs of life really made me question what the actual fuck Alice done for it to become like this and fear of how further unhinged she really is. Wasn't scared of what i'd find in the chapter, but of the character i was playing as
Same in my case, except I never even knew the first game existed until after I finished Madness Returns; As in AFTER I beat the Dollmaker boss fight. The second I saw Queensland, I was asking myself "Jesus. What screwed up shit is this?" Then heading to the castle proper, I was shocked to see it in utter ruins; There was even the remains of a Looking Glass Railway terminal on one of the rocky pillars formed from such a desolate place. Naturally, this made me question what the hell Alice had done to leave it in ruin, ESPECIALLY after the Cheshire Cat's dialogue.

Then again, maybe it's just me. Though I don't find that scary either. Actually, nothing in the soundtrack is unsettling for me, it's just all soothing really. The Queen of Hearts in this game looks so much better than the one in the actual movie. When I think of someone who is considered to be a queen or king I expect to take them a little more seriously. But it's hard to take the original Queen of Hearts because of how silly her design looks. Now this Queen of Hearts I can take seriously and I honestly wish she was in the game more. I just love her gothic design and how she doesn't even look like an adult. She looks like an evil and demented child. Not to mention that her entire castle is literally made of actual blood, flesh and organs. The entrance of her thrown room are a giant pair of actual teeth and the walk way to her throne is the tongue of the mouth. This is what Alice in Wonderland should've been a long time ago. I mean Alice in Wonderland's story already sounds like a damn horror story anyways.
Missing the forest for the trees; Nothing wrong with going for a more goofy tone, but there's also nothing inherently good about going full darkness. (Which is funny to me because this game has plenty of goofy moments. For example, in Chapter 1 on the way to Hatter's Domain in the cable car, Alice and the Cheshire Cat start bickering like a married couple and it only gets even funnier when the Bolterflies show up to try and knock the cable car into the abyss only to result in the car crashing If that was meant to be serious, it failed because the constant arguing and sarcastic comebacks only makes the sequence diluted of almost any fear and replaces it with goofiness.) It's all subjective at the end of the day, regardless.
The atmosphere of this game is so fascinating! Good mystical horror is rare to find, and this game is one-of-a-kind treasure in that sense because nothing else made me enjoy and love the darkness so much! The only level that's truly uncomfortable for me in this game is a dollhouse (both atmosphere and music feels incredibly depressing and uncomfortable, and i think the reason is the dissonance because dolls and dollhouses for me associates with happy moments of my childhood), and knowing what is it supposed to symbolize, i'm pretty sure it was done on purpose.
I'm assuming you are referring to the Queen of Hearts saying "off with her head" and trying to make you leave her domain with threats and gibber jabber. I wouldn't consider them whispers personally but yes, Queensland is where you hear them =)
no matter where i go in life, i can always hear this music, people stop and stare at me because i'm different. to them, this is the real world, where everything is normal and sane. but i see wonderland. and thts all i've seen for a very long time. maybe those people who stare at me in school and town should try see the world through my eyes. then they'd understand why i'm like this.....
I don't generally advocate for remakes, but I wish they would remake this game with Souls-like mechanics. The castle in particular has always given me strong Anor Londo/Yharnam vibes. You don't know the whole story, but you _just_ know something horrible has transpired here, and the entire world feels diseased, confused and hostile. Just like in FromSoft titles, the whole theme of American McGee's Alice is that everything is just plain 'off'; most people are either manipulative, talk in riddles, or feel strangely distant, creatures you encounter aren't what they first appear to be, and there's an overwhelming sense of sadness undercutting every vista you make your way towards. For a remake of _Madness Returns_ in particular, I would love if the focus remained firmly on the Liddell family. The Souls games tend to be very self-indulgent in their world building, with the supporting cast (bosses, NPCs) being in the forefront of the narrative, which is not an approach that would fit well with an Alice game. I'm kind of rambling at this point, but part of me is really longing to re-live my first time entering Queensland and feeling so wondrously lost in the foreboding scarlet landscape.
Wow even though I haven’t played the game before this music sounds intensively spooky compared to the other horror music I heard before this one strikes me because it’s like your in this part of the area where the true horrors begin I like it
The Queensland theme is permenantly stuck in my head Also am I the only one who noticed that the Queensland theme and the Londerland theme sound very similar?
well... my wonderland is the "Daydreaming", yes in the real "Alice in wonderlan" the book, is not about a crazyness but about a little girl mind-imagination, like the film "Amelie" or "pans labirinth" & many others, more or less everyone we have our "wonderland" our escape, wonderland is it real cause we believe in it.
Alice: How do you know I'm mad?
Cheshire Cat: You must be, or you wouldn't have come here.
That is true.
"And how do You know that you're mad?"
"To begin with," said the cat, "a dog's not mad. You grant that?"
"I suppose so," said Alice.

watching every step i do
shivers yet come again
Tears..coming yet again...
be ready to enter my wonderland...
Thanks very much, best 3 minutes I spent all day :)
I hope you realise that Alice is not real, but this person is.
Deep down, we are all at least a little mad!
But also....there's meaning in the heartbreak...there's silence, but there's peace ..in that heartbreak DAMNNN
"The Red Kingdom's in ruin but you're no better off."
Chapter 4 is an interesting chapter. But what haunts to this day is the executioner. He appears in my dreams trying to execute me...
For example, in Chapter 1 on the way to Hatter's Domain in the cable car, Alice and the Cheshire Cat start bickering like a married couple and it only gets even funnier when the Bolterflies show up to try and knock the cable car into the abyss only to result in the car crashing If that was meant to be serious, it failed because the constant arguing and sarcastic comebacks only makes the sequence diluted of almost any fear and replaces it with goofiness.) It's all subjective at the end of the day, regardless.
try walking around Queensland wearing the fleshmaiden's dress.
perfect combo. in my opinion.
Yes it surely is, no doubt.
Let alone, the Knightmare weapon.
I love how foreboding and desolate this sounds.
Which fits the level...
Oh, good. Hopefully they'll give the rights to him.
Red queen
Sounds like a hidden malevolence, suppressed desire of revenge. Malice seeping drop by drop through the walls of mind.
winterbottom, that was it
I'm assuming you are referring to the Queen of Hearts saying "off with her head" and trying to make you leave her domain with threats and gibber jabber. I wouldn't consider them whispers personally but yes, Queensland is where you hear them =)
thank you for your compliment :) It makes me happy :)
That was the best description i've ever heard. Congratulations to you *claps* :)
no matter where i go in life, i can always hear this music, people stop and stare at me because i'm different. to them, this is the real world, where everything is normal and sane. but i see wonderland. and thts all i've seen for a very long time. maybe those people who stare at me in school and town should try see the world through my eyes. then they'd understand why i'm like this.....
Thanks! I love this game :] Just the whole wonderland theme in general is legit!
Wow even though I haven’t played the game before this music sounds intensively spooky compared to the other horror music I heard before this one strikes me because it’s like your in this part of the area where the true horrors begin I like it
I just played it now hitting 2021 with it
purrrrfect
I can either see Cry or Brad playing this game, but mostly Cry because he'd get really into to it.
This song is the best👏👍
The best part of it was when I paused the other video and this music kept on going...
I didn't know that. I have the PS3 version, and I thought it was made for both at the same time.
Such a haunting tune!
Very cool.
This make me feel the most sad and maniac feelings
The Queensland theme is permenantly stuck in my head
Also am I the only one who noticed that the Queensland theme and the Londerland theme sound very similar?
Damn creepy music, damn creepy level. Loved it.
The series as a whole is very dark and creepy, yet it contains so much whimsical shit and colorful stuff that contrasts heavily with the darkness...
well... my wonderland is the "Daydreaming", yes in the real "Alice in wonderlan" the book, is not about a crazyness but about a little girl mind-imagination, like the film "Amelie" or "pans labirinth" & many others, more or less everyone we have our "wonderland" our escape, wonderland is it real cause we believe in it.
I was thinkin the same thing. This boi is stoned. lmao
