For fighting expensive elections you need money and sometimes this leads to aspiring leaders adopting criminal means to garner funds. Fighting elections with honestly in a huge country like India is indeed a serious challenge where seats are not contested based on merit but instead on your muscle power and ability to incite passions based on sex, caste & religion. Here is a good example of the adage : "If you are good for nothing else, you can still serve as a bad example".

Pritam Singh should step down as Leader of Opposition. His lapse of judgment alone in this matter questions his capability. Uncertainty in whether or not he is telling lies under oath questions his integrity.
