“A man dies when he is forgotten!”
He will never be forgotten. Without him, none of us would even be commenting on this channel or enjoying the next One Piece chapter. He may have passed at a young age, but he changed so many lives and will continue to inspire and uplift others.

    Dear Toriyama
You have no idea how many lives you have inspired with your creations. You probably wouldn't have guessed you would create an iconic series that would be loved globally and by generations of people. Your most iconic Character Son Goku is the superman of the anime world and is without a doubt probably the first hero of most anime lovers especially with this quote "I am the hope of the universe. I am the answer to all living things that cry out for peace. I am protector of the innocent. I am the light in the darkness. I am truth! Ally to good! Nightmare to you!”
Thank you for inspiring us and allowing us to be apart of your imagination. We enjoyed the ride. Get your rest, you deserve it. Tell king Kai hi for us.
    RIP SENPAI

Dragon Ball is iconic man, it's a series that will forever be remembered. Sorry if near the end I get a little sporadic lol, but DBZ to me was all about those small and goofy moments. It made friends, brought people together, gave us something to look forward too etc. Bro, even my neighbor has a DBZ sticker on his car lol

For someone who was bullied and as i grew up, his stories and manga was what kept me company and made me smile at the end of day.
Im literally crying my eyes out, i hope akira realised what he gave to this world, he is my light of my dark tunnel, i hope i can do even lile 0.0001% of what he did to put a smile on someone else's face.
Not him, no. Try to make the world a kinder place if you can everyone.

That is the Turtle Hermit way! We must master the art of peace in addition to the art of war! The Turtle Hermit School will be with you... always! This will be my greatest, most powerful Kamehameha!" Rip to a true legend, the godfather of shounen, he inspired 2-3 generations of children and made every childs day better wheter it was coming home from school to read manga or catching dragonball/dbz on tv. I remember me and my friends and i running home after school as 5th graders that was a 45 min walk or 30 min run from our houses and making it on time every week throughout the frieza saga and when goku first went super saiyan it was mostly what everyone talked about at school the next week(same thing when gohan went SSJ2) and the goosebumps it gave me as a child, a experience that i dont think can be duplicated(some anime moments came close) DBZ was the first anime my dad watched with me and especially when my friends came over. Toriyama's legacy lives on in every shouen from the 90s onwards till this day

I was sadly born the year DB ended (1995). So by the time I grew up, DB had already faded away from the TV landscape, just to be replaced by the "Big Three" we all know and love. Unfortunately, I didn't have the chance to grow up watching or reading it. Yet, even back then, I remember the name "Dragon Ball" being murmured in the playground like it was an old time legend.
And once in a while, if you were lucky, you could come across some episode reruns on obscure TV channels.
Back then, I'll be honest, I wasn't very impressed by the little bit I saw of it.
"Dragon Ball? You mean that old anime with the characters with silly hair who just keep yelling and punching each other? LAAAME!!!"
Yeaaaah, that was the 10-14 years old me.
Luckily, I grew up, and so did my interest in anime and manga. And in my journey of discovery, I quickly realized the impact DB had. Oda, Kishimoto, Kubo, Togashi... all of them were praising Toriyama's name and his work. Why? What was so special about this old looking anime/manga?!! After avoiding it for years, I decided to finally find out for myself. It was around the time Dragon Ball SUPER was announced (2015). To celebrate the series return, many TV channels were airing DB & DBZ again, and I finally had the opportunity to watch it for the first time. And...
Yeah. Dragon Ball is really something special. It's not perfect of course, and my experience with it was partially ruined due to the fact that I got spoiled many of the major plot point. (Super Saiyan, Tunks identity, etc.) But I totally get why it reached the hearts of millions of little boys and girls across the world. There's something... really charming about this story, about this artstyle, about these characters.
Plus, learning about Dragon Ball allowed me to be part of the passionate community it created. I could understand the memes, enjoy parodies like TFS amazing videos, notice the many DB references in other medias, and I even start to argue in some stupid power-level debate.
I don't think I have to explain to you why Toriyama's work is so wonderful and important.
And... Although I can't in all honesty call myself DB biggest fan, as an artist and an anime lover, I just want to say:
Thank you for everything, Mr. Akira Toriyama.
You'll be missed, but never forgotten.

    My thoughts:
    1) Just like with Kentaro Miura: TOO SOON! TOO DAMN SOON!
    2) I was really hoping to see Toriyama do some illustrations of Final Fantasy VII characters some day. Just take a look at Cloud and tell me he doesn't look like a Dragon Ball character with that spiky hair of his. Well, that ship has sailed...
    3) Now who is going to do the artwork for Dragon Quest games from here on out? To be honest, I would love to see Eiichiro Oda do character and enemy designs for a Dragon Quest game.

That's not the news that I expected to wake up with. I paused and kept staring at the text for a few minutes... I don't think that anyone is really prepared for death, it's just something that when it happens we get the forces that we need. Recently I went through the loss of family members (yes, plural).
I think that it was the right choice for Toriyama's family to keep the situation very low key. On these moments it's better to just keep between family and close friends. It's a very delicate situation, and having too many eyes and fuzz around would do more harm than good, even if well-meaning.
In the end, it's important to remember that we are just temporarily on this world, and that at some point our work here is going to be over.

There are times when you gain something and hold it dearly in your hands, never anticipating or imagining that it's a real possibility that you are going to loose it someday, and when that thing finally disappears from our hands, the reality hits like a train when you realise that thing has gone beyond your reach. The grief followed by the realisation can't be described through words. That's how i felt when i came across the news of toriyama sensei's unfortunate passing out of no where. Dragon ball for me might be far more important than most of other fans. I am an orphan who lived in an orphanage with very limited resources my entire childhood until the age of 17, i wasn't adopted, but i moved out as i had started working. Goku played the part of a friend for me, more than a hero. Dragon Ball is an inseparable and irreplaceable part of my childhood. Toriyama sensei is the one responsible for my fondess and appreciation for manga and anime. Rest in peace and thanyou.
