Loz Colbert.. as a drummer here, one of my top 3 drummers by influence. Others include Mark Brzezecki of Big Country and Stuart Copeland of the Police. I saw these guys on this tour in the US. Portland Oregon 1992. Was amazing. Thanks RIDE, for the great music and memories.
This song is pure brilliance. Year and a half since I discovered the band through this live song performance it feels as good as back then. My favourite part is at 5:32 when the guitars stop and you can only hear the bassline and the sound coming from the synthesizer(?). Fucking amazing!
amazing. We saw them live around this time and an unknown band called The Verve (then called Verve) were supporting them. They were brilliant and I will never forget it. They came on stage to Steve Miller's "Fly like and eagle". so atmospheric.
Good call, that was my first thought as well. Maybe Andy can hire Noel... LOL I was lucky enough to see Ride on this tour in the states - changed everything I think about music.
i never managed to get to see them,i had all there eps etc, outstanding, and the artwork and quality of the sleeves was differant class, ride were fuckin quality.
The live version is so like the album recording. A credit to very talented musicians. Not many bands can make live performances sound like the album track. Fantastic!!!
@placebo150 They were fab times I must admit. I saw a lot ot the bands you mentioned live but I never saw The Stone Roses which is a huge regret of mine.
loz was the best drummer of that era for sure he drove the band in the way keith moon of THE WHO did tho the styles of drumming were slightly different.
Wheels turning around into alien grounds Pass through different times, leave them all behind Leave them all behind, leave them all behind Leave them all behind, leave them all behind Just to see we've got so far to go Until we get there just let it flow Just let it flow, just let it flow Just let it flow, just let it flow (just let it flow) Colours shining clear fading into night Our grasp is broken, there's nothing we can do I don't care about the colours, I don't care about the light I don't care about the truth, I don't care about the truth
I didn't know they toured together. I saw Ride with Lush one year and Slowdive the next. Ride was my favorite band!!! As I get older though I think The Verve is better. Ashcroft is pure genius!!! But they are for sure my top 2.
Truly shoegazing to the hilt. As far as these kids are concerned, their playing in the basement by themselves. They're obvlious to the audiance and just concerned with the quality of their music.
The swirling guitar sounds that (in this video) come in at 1:01 on the record version are about as trancendent, psychedelic, and otherworldy as guitar can get. Pure magic. I just play those few verses over and over. This version is still very good, but the studio version is freakish.
omg i can't really believe those days existed.with ride, stone roses, charlatans, slowdive, chapterhouse and later suede blur pulp etc...I am fucking cursed that I wasn't born then. And I am sick that oasis got more famous than these guys althought i like some oasis songs but they are not even close to this. And I won't even talk about todays popular music.from slipknot to lady gaga, sick of that shite
I have to tell you, this all happened when I was 15-22 and it was the best fuckin time of my life, and then it was RAVE. So lucky. Don't forget My Bloody Valentine, Primal Scream, Andrew Weatherall, The Verve, Lush, it goes on...
noel didn't write columbia liam did, along with chris griffiths of the real people, it was easier to just give noel writing credits for the whole album. look it up.
1. I could never figure out if wearing your own band's shirt on stage was really cool or really dorky. Still not sure. 2. How great was 1992 for true alternative music? Ride, Blur, Adorable, Catherine Wheel, etc. were all just cranking. Seems like only yesterday.
I nominate this for the most epic opening track to an album ever
Seagull was also incredible. Two really great albums with two really great openers.
Put it up there with a lot of the Cure opening songs for sure, and the other comment about Seagull as well.
There are several others, but definitely a contender for that title, along with the Miss Congeniality title
You must be proud of the music in your country, Great Britain!
"Make a joyous noise unto The Lord" - Psalms 98:4

I was lucky enough to see them in Glasgow years ago an to this day it still stays with me how feckin fabulous they were!
Saw them at Reading 91. They were amazing. The best of the Indie set! This is a forgotten anthem!!!
I was born the day before this performance ! I really love Ride's vibe waves !

I saw that tour when it hit Omaha..played in a bowling alley and changed my life..there was nothin' shoegaze about Ride..Amazing!
one dislike to this track carnt believe it.............just leave him behind.......and the rest of us will flow .....wat a band..
nine minutes of pure musical genious.
One of the most sublime pieces of guitar music ever! A psychedelic explosion of feedback and mindblowing colour!
Saw them on this tour in Middlesbrough on my 19th birthday. Best fucking birthday ever.
I was there, just a wee pup so I was ....
Lush and Ride used to tour together here in the states. Ride usually opened.
this deserves 1000000000000 views at least!!!
Good call, that was my first thought as well. Maybe Andy can hire Noel... LOL I was lucky enough to see Ride on this tour in the states - changed everything I think about music.
love that radioactive, dual guitar meltdown at the end :)
TY FROM STGO OF CHILE, CRELP1974
WHIT THIS GREAT SONG I CAN REMEMBER MANY PLACES OF MY YOUTH IN THE 90's
NELSONACHO1974
powerful varying imaginative drummer...
love that double roll he does towards the end
@hoffen Saw these guys once at a soundcheck and just watching that knocked your socks off. Was a fan from that day on.
i never managed to get to see them,i had all there eps etc, outstanding, and the artwork and quality of the sleeves was differant class, ride were fuckin quality.
RIDE is the first band i've ever seen live. They opened with this song and I fucking shit my pants. Best show ever.
Easily one of the best of the nineties and everyone has heard pieces of it somewhere
Sounds so much louder back then than their gigs now in 2015
Amazing. Only got to see them once but loved every moment
Great memories! Thank you for sharing! :-)
That was a great tour.
Good call.
0:52 And with Ian Brown doing his drum thing again for them
sublime. no more said
The live version is so like the album recording. A credit to very talented musicians. Not many bands can make live performances sound like the album track. Fantastic!!!
This is probably the best live performance of this song they ever did, thank you uploader for sharing this brilliant show with us.
Jeez this takes me back - pure class. Anyone else remember a double headline gig with The Charlatans in Brighton??
genius track thx!!!
They left us all behind : (
Awesome!!! Thanks for this
@placebo150
They were fab times I must admit. I saw a lot ot the bands you mentioned live but I never saw The Stone Roses which is a huge regret of mine.
❤️❤️❤️❤️✌️🙌
it's the beginning part of the song Time Machine on their 2nd lp Going Blank Again
brilliant :)
Awesome.
loz was the best drummer of that era for sure he drove the band in the way keith moon of THE WHO did tho the styles of drumming were slightly different.

epic
does anyone know where you get copies of this gig on dvd? BRILLIANT!!
How old do you figure they are at this point? Coolest kids ever. Also, I like when band members wear their own band's shirts.
I didn't know they toured together. I saw Ride with Lush one year and Slowdive the next. Ride was my favorite band!!! As I get older though I think The Verve is better. Ashcroft is pure genius!!! But they are for sure my top 2.
@escriticapop a semi-official VHS (it's a pro recording as you can see but it was not a Creation release). you can find cheap copies on ebay
every good indie band needs a cool drummer
hahahaha, true!
20 fucking years ago!
Truly shoegazing to the hilt. As far as these kids are concerned, their playing in the basement by themselves. They're obvlious to the audiance and just concerned with the quality of their music.

What's the source of these Brixton videos?
You should check out Calm As The Colour mate; we're heavily Ride influenced
Now it's 2 dislikes, Liam's here es well..
what year did they break up and what happened to them
they got normal jobs..apart from Ian Brown
@jandean61 ride are good but watch your mouth while talkine about the stone roses
noel didn't write columbia liam did, along with chris griffiths of the real people, it was easier to just give noel writing credits for the whole album. look it up.
This was a promo video.

i believe that was the point i was making minus the derogatory
This is the SHIT!!! Love these guys! I heard they might be getting back together now that Oasis has finally fucked off! I really hope so...
@bugpowderdust27

Le son !!!
inspiral carpets, the charlatans, and RIDE.. CANT think of any better acts and they are all underated.. fucking shame..
@paulaus
youre never see slowdive:)
What kind of guitar is Andy playing here? The pickups look like Jazzmaster pickups but the guitar is not a Jazzmaster. (see 1:34, 3:15)
