Another sidebar comment is that most Bulge games end in December - Ardennes '44, A Time for Trumpets, and Bitter Woods end on Dec 26. Enemy Action: Ardennes ends Dec 29, FAB: BUlge ends Dec 28, Wacht am Rhein ends Jan 3. I note the new Deadly Woods goes to Jan 12ish
All things considered my favorite BCS game. Probably because the topic covered feels fresh to me compared to North Africa and the Bulge. Also the pre-designated activation system works well to make it a very playable 4 map monster game.
Toying with going for this system but everyone says the Last Blitzkrieg is by far the best one in this series and the others don't do this system justice. Unfortunately I have far too many Bulge games. Bitter End and Festung Budapest (ASL) also cover this battle.
I agree that Last Blitzkrieg is the best in the series. I am a big fan of BCS but the two North Africa games don't come close to Last Blitzkrieg, IMO. really looking forward to getting my copy of Panzer's Last Stand
Interestingly it was after playing Bitter End that prompted me to order this. I note that there are more bridges across the Danube in PLS than BE, particularly North of Budapest. That would have made a huge difference in my BE game. Also like the command and control concepts in BCS, not a system that suits the factor counters in our hobby.
Are the system rules becoming more settled? Seems like it’s still being developed, not that they’re unplayable, but they’re obviously newer than his other systems and are still working out the kinks.
HOW..... did stuff get put in that box in THAT wacky order???? :D Kudos to MMP for getting more color into their spartan rules books. Any day now, they might actually learn how to produce a good looking MAP!! :) As for counter thickness, these seem fine: the super-chunky Battleline counters were a negative, as I remember it....
Just subscribed. Excellent channel. Do you think this game is worth $166.00. That seems to be retail price. I would expect a full East Front campaign for that price.
$166 is a lot of green. But it's a big game, and provided you end up liking BCS, it could easily be worth that in entertainment hours per dollar spent. Don't be distracted that it doesn't cover the whole east front; it's not supposed to.
@@ardwulfslair I think I would start with Baptism of Fire if I were to try out the BCS system. It seems to have a loyal following, although people seem to hate it at first, but stick with it and in the end think it's the greatest system out there.
@@danielorourke5224 Unless you want to wait for Arracourt, which will be the best priced entry into the system. But chances are it'll be a while before it's released.
now we have an East Front topic this may be the game that pulls me into the BCS system

It's actually the only BCS game I have not played.
@@ardwulfslair I have played it on VASSAL. We will need to set something up for FtF at some point.
Definitely!
(Cough) Green units were the Add on American units for Last Blitzkrieg.

@@tomfaust5521 I don't know that LB is "better" as such, but I'm certainly far more interested in its subject than I am in North Africa.

I think version 2.0 is pretty settled. The game specific rules add a few thing for PLZ, but I can't see any glaring changes that need to be made.
Really there were only a few areas that were being tweaked anyway. The whole "rules in flux" this was very much overstated in this case.

It's a by-product of the way they collate, I'd imagine. And that's done in-house in Maryland.
The maps in this box look better than the ones in Brazen Chariots. Those are bland in the extreme.

Start with Arracourt for sure. But I found Panzers Last Stand for a lower price.
