Hey Everyone! ) I’m Anna and welcome to my channel. Here, I post some useful information for English learners. I’m from Ukraine and I’ve worked on my English and accent, for the most part, on my own, but you can find out and trace my story by watching my videos. I’ve been studying American pronunciation for a long time, and I still do, and I guess I always will - because it’s not math. Learning a language, it’s a lifetime journey. I know exactly what it takes to become fluent and acquire an accent in a non-English speaking country, and I’ve never even been to one. And I’m sharing this information here - on my channel.

    1- Listening:
Watch videos/films/series in english like “Friends”-> watch with subtitles and after without subtitles .
    Listen a lot
    2- Speaking:
Repeat after native speakers, turn on subtitles for beginners.
    3- Reading:
Read slowly and make sure you understand the context. Read something of your interest.
    4- Writing
    Copy texts

I totally concur with you. In schools, we were taught English as a subject rather than as a language. So we didn’t get to enjoy the language learning process. The main purpose of learning a language is to be able to interact people by conveying your thoughts, ideas and experiences to them. I see no point in just making students practice grammar exercises and not letting them get exposure to that language through essential skills such as listening and speaking. We might have known all the grammar rules and correct usage of tenses yet we never gained proficiency. Need to fix that ineffective method of English teaching in our schools’ curricula.

Yes I would agree with this.
I even went back to higher education to re take English. It was a subject we where expected to learn English speaking writing and interpretation from the combination of all of our subjects of study from been presented in English except 1 additional language. Speaking/typing from a modern GCSE in English perspective. It’s easy now with voice translators and more grammatically aware spell checking systems.

I feel I have improved my English to another level since the last year,I now share a little experence to English lerners,in the last year, one way is to enlarge the vocabulary, how to ?just remember words, yes, just spend as much time as you could on memerizing words, one word by one word, after half a year, you will find your vocabulary is big, then continue recite words;another way is to learn sentences, looking for the longest sentences and hardest sentences to learn the structure of the sentences,if you do not understantd thse long and difficult sentencees, asking natives speakers or teachers or online ,if one sentence could not be understood one time, then learn it in a second time,if not understood, you could learn in a third time, then keep learn new hard and long sentences. I use this 2 methods ,I found I could understand much of what native speakers say and write.

Thank you for sharing valuable advice on learning English. For a long time, I struggled with a lack of motivation and didn't have the passion to do or learn anything. However, I now realize that I need to take responsibility for my life and create both intrinsic and extrinsic motivation for myself. Intrinsic motivation comes from the meaningful, interesting, and satisfying emotions I experience when learning English. In contrast, extrinsic motivation includes the rewards or achievements I receive, such as reaching my goal of a 7.5-8.0 on the IELTS exam.

Hi Anna san. I greatly appreciate this video. In Japanese schools English is taught as the first step is grammar and vocabulary, then reading and writing, and finally on top of them listening and speaking. Maybe this is because of what kind of skills your educational system focuses on. But to be an English fluent speaker, your step-by-step guide is absolutely right. We can see the hints also from Anna's interview with John in another video. By the way, I'm afraid to ask you if it would be possible to put time stamps in your video. It would be really supportive to watch repeatedly.

      Hi
Ann ‘s speech sound is English / American . Also known as accent or manor in the way which she pronounces some words. Speaking and achieving this in that way you would need a American English teacher. So I would recommend studying English with online UA-cam videos presented from that region or demographic to achieve such a accent sound or pronunciation of English. I think Australians have a nice accent but I also think the Scottish do. Once you can speak English it can be nice to have a unique accent. I found meeting people from Kiwi there accent was impressive. Whatever I m sure you won’t be disappointed. Good luck with it 👍

      Hi Sergy
Ann’s doing well. It helps if you have a lot of people who speak English to talk to. She has found and stuck with a good learning strategy.
I am sure with patience and adopting the advice given you will achieve success. It’s a expanding language like most so you will continue to pick up new words. There will also be buzz words or company names that may not fit into a true category but are still words. That will be used in English speaking or writing just the same as in your native language. Good luck in your chosen goal👍

And I think that is the first process and later all these things will we can add it but listening and speaking is the first step but not to be stop to speak evey single day, even that single day has the importance.
