    3:29 if you pause, you can see an anchor stamp with a number beneath it just ahead of the rear sight. That means this Garand saw service in the Danish navy. Fun little fact!

      im pretty sure you are joking but in case you aren't, the mosin nagant was russian weaponry

    • @aquatictoaster
      @aquatictoaster 10 років тому

      America at one point did use mosins, not sure if it was in a war or just for training but Russia(I think) decided that they wanted a shitload from remington (I think) they canceled the order but a ton had already been made and remington was going to go bankrupt if they didn't sell them quickly. So they US government bit the bullet and bought them, I think they even tried to convert them to thirty aught as well as bent the bolt handles to fit with a 1903 style of bolt handle.
      For what its worth I think the government ended up selling them shortly after for scrap, the troops hated them and the thirty aught conversion proved to be more dangerous to the operator than the target.

  • @MarcYuneski
    @MarcYuneski 10 років тому +8

    Felt like I had to say this, but the "ping" that is heard when the clip is ejected from a Garand was mostly indistinguishable in the heat of battle. The only time that the enemy might be able to hear it was in close quarters fighting, and even then the sound rarely had an effect on combat. It was very unlikely that one guy would take on a bunch of German soldiers single handed, so one guy empties his gun there's a good chance there is another guy with his already loaded.

      the Sten was effectively cobbled together in someone's garden shed, it's successor the Sterling however, was far, far better made and therefore more reliable, also worth mentioning is the Vickers Machine Gun, while it required up to 6 men to effectively use (one to fire, one to feed the belt, and up to four to help carry) it was insanely reliable, it could give the AK-47 a run for its money
