  • A lightweight and easy way of storing compressed air. Can be used instead of canned air. It's easy with four 2L pop bottles joined end to end. Assembly is simple using 2L bottles and rubber valve inserts from a tubeless tire. No special fittings needed. Use hose to connect the 2L bottles together. Great for hobbyists and I.T. techs for dust removal and debris blow off from projects and whatever else your mind can dream of. Perfect canned air alternative. Is refillable and rechargeable canned air. Dust off electronics or makes a great computer cleaner.
    These bottles are very strong but please do your research before inflating to determine a safe working pressure that you will feel safe with. People are creative and will come up with different ideas on how to use this so be safe.
    See how much pressure these bottles can take here:

    • @polaris2966
      @polaris2966 8 років тому +6

      Geraint Davies is right here, unless you know what you're doing, any depth can be dangerous, you HAVE to know how to equalize and stop air pockets in your body from becoming an issue. Assuming you are untrained, you could EASILY burst your lungs or go deaf if you don't equalize and constantly remain breathing. An easy way to put it is this, if you go down, air takes up less space, meaning that if you blow up a balloon at the surface, and take it down, it would be smaller at the bottom, and if you blew the balloon at the bottom to its maximum, like your lungs, ears, and any other air pocket that isnt properly equalized, it would burst on its way up, no low depth can save you from that, and no short amount of time will help you either. If you absolutely have to do this, do as much research as you can, lets just say, there is a reason why we take 20 hours worth of classes just to attain the lowest level of scuba certification.

    Chris Notap: Is it safe to breathe this air, without using special equipment to fill the bottles, that would prevent the air from being filled with harmful substances? I'd like to try and attach your compressed air bottles to my filter type gas mask, in order to make it a completely sealed air-tank mask.

    Kind of a lot of work to go through. I just happen to own an inexpensive pancake compressor. I had to purchase a 3' hose with 14" long metal straw tube. This lightweight enough to go down and out my apartment. Wish I had an electric outlet, though. Anyway, your little 4x2L bottle trick wouldn't last me 15 seconds of blow time. My compressor needs to run for about 5 - 7 minutes on average depending on how dirty the computer I'm cleaning seems to be. But nice craftsmanship nonetheless, Chris. I think if you were to assemble maybe 16 bottles together and could strap them around your back you might be able to stay submerged underwater for 10 minutes or so at shallow depths. That's provided you're not too buoyant from all those air bottles. Experiment!

    • @ЭнрикеЧурин
      @ЭнрикеЧурин Рік тому +1

      lol, you'll be so buoyant from these bottles! I bet you can't dive down even with a single 2l bottle. To get 10 minutes underwater, you would need at least 28 liters of water volume of bottles pumped to 7 bars (I could easily achieve that with Presta valve and some silicon glue) of pressure total (not what a regular pump manometer would show, they usually show pressure above ambient, that would be 6) if you are breathing at 15 liters a minute (which is a less than what diver's manuals write) and leave 1 bar since you would not be able to breathe that in. But you'll need 28 kg or more of weights to counter that much buoyancy, so good luck trying to swim with that.

I just poured some on a shallow dish and let the continainer soak adhesive side down in it, and it the was very easy to scrape off with my fingernail. I think the better choice for scuba is to get your license and dive with real stuff.
      If you breathe air that's only a few psi higher than the surrounding air you can rupture your lungs. That's why there's regulators that adjust to the depth in scuba. Plus you can go down to 200 feet when diving because of nitrox and obviously diving without a bcd is dangerous.

    can you strap this to your back, and then breathe air underwater?
    Would you need weights so you wont float on the surface?

    • @0record0
      @0record0 8 років тому

      +marmoto liferider You would need weights, a lot I guess. And I may destroy your lungs becuase of the preasure. The normal underwater diving equipment is complicated. It not only dispences air, but it regulates the preassure. I don't know much, but it's certainly very dadgerous.

    It is funny tho scrolling to find all those complains that says this is a bad idea... nothing said that this should be an oxygen tank or anything related to heavy duty. You maybe can use it to blow up some dust like it shows or maybe water gun... dont expect to much its just a hobby item... anyway you did such greag job

    oh my, alright...how many do I need to connect in series for use with a small sandblaster? 4 of those is more than 1 gallon of air volume. Some Gas compressor or 12v compressor to try & air them up on the go.

    • @chrisnotap
      @chrisnotap  6 років тому +1

      Careful how much air you put in them. Watch the video in the description as to how much they can take.

      130 psi is a bit much. but 160 is max stress, & shortens life of plastic, exploading at 180 to 200 psi at times. put in shaddy box so to avoid sun exposure & 20° less heat. I Would put a ring seal in each cap or plumbers tap on threads. 👍👍

    • @Kiba69420
      @Kiba69420 7 років тому

      Let me make a reply that isnt by idiots that assume you mean as an underwater apparatus... As long as you dont overpressure, it should be fine for use as the creator intended... which is as a portable air tank, like you would buy from Home Depot or a hardware store. It will store a few gallons of air at a decent pressure, but probably run out of pressure fairly quick if uses for more than quick burst. Likely good for a single bike tire airup or using it as an air duster/blower.
      As for scuba gear, it would work ok i guess... Again, as long as you dont over pressure. A small regulator to make sure you dont put too much air into your lungs at once would be a wise addition, if thats what you wanted to use it for. This would also make it last longer, but not nearly as long as a real scuba tank would last. Basically, this is just something that would be an extension of snorkeling somewhat. This might last 5 or so min if you were breathing normally, might last you longer if you were holding your breath like you were surfacing/diving like a snorkeler.
      Either way, it works and would work for whatever you needed it for and be safe. The weakest point would be at the caps where the hoses are connected, so i would expect those spots to blow out first if you did overpressure... and even at that, if you blow up a 2lt bottle, it wont cause too much chaos, maybe a small laceration, could put out an eye, i would assume serious injury and death could be associated with blowing up a 2lt bottle, but would be on the bit of an extreme side.
