- a film about the Stena Line ferry Stena Saga in service on the route Frederikshavn - Oslo.
In this film we are on a crossing with the Stena Saga from Frederikshavn to Oslo and back in May 2012.
Stena Saga was built in 1981 as MS Silvia Regina and was for Silja Line in service on the Helsinki-Stockholm route from 1981-1991. Together with her sister ship MS Finlandia she was the biggest ferry in the world from 1981-1985.
In 1991 Silvia Regina was sold to Stena Line and renamed Stena Britannica.
The Stena Britannica was in service on the Hoek van Holland - Harwich route from 1991 to 1994.
In 1994 the ship was renamed Stena Saga and changed to the route Oslo - Fredrikshavn.
From 1994 to 2020, the Stena Saga operated on this route until Stena Line permanently closed the route in March 2020 due to the Covid 19 pandemic and the Stena Saga was laid up.

I remember cruising on this boat when I was a kid. She was in the Silja Line fleet as Silvia Regina between Helsinki and Stockholm back in the day. Those were exciting times for a 9 year old. 😎👍
I met a Stena Line Ship close to Göteborg-harbour from the level of a Hobie 14 Catamaran...
whenever I cruised on board a Stena-Ferry since then... I kneeled down... :)

Lovely old ship me and my ex partner hege sailed on her from Oslo right past our house on the fjords to Frederickshaven and back on same sailing we had a beautiful cabin really enjoyed the nostalgia thanks mate you stirred a lot of memories x

the boat definitely come to life at night, i remember using it when it was on the hook of Holland, Harwich route, loved it along side the Konnigin Beatrix, good times.

So sad i was om this bosat må Hole life its a part off mee from 0 years to 13 years i was om the bosat from Frederikshavn to Oslo and from Oslo to Frederiks havn i have Take that route over 30 times i now this ship like back pocket i relly hope it start up Again and the Texas machine is relly good mee my sister and mom spending alot off time there and have fun

Is there to be a new vessel sailing from Fishguard to Rosslare as the Stena Europe has spent more time being repaired than actually sailing in recent months and meant more crossings for us with Irish Ferries.

Not really. This ship is ugly as hell. MS Estonia was a relativly beautiful ship. I have had much fun on Stena Saga, and if there is a god, I earned my passport to hell on this ship. Hope i have as much fun there, as I had getting there.
