schwubmexx I did her solo great sword about 7 times cause I was farming for her gem (I know it’s called a crystal but it’s essentially the same rarity as a gem and the only difference is the icon is different and the name) but anyways my basic casual run on her solo greatsword was about 10-15 min at most.
I was expecting Nargacuga and Tigrex to be hard, since the vets were hyping them up quite a bit, especially Tigrex, but it was Barrioth that gave me the most trouble.
Yeah. I have to agree. They were really no where near as challenging as I thought they’d be. Really barioth was the hardest because he jumps all over the place making it hard to hit him. Tigrex just charges in one direction and then another a few times. Or who knows maybe my first fight was lucky
I remember tigrex being much tougher in the older games, though the clunkier controls likely had a lot to do with that. His fight itself hasn’t changed much from what i remember, but the level of control we have over our hunter in world makes it much easier to deal with him.
@@matt6821 true, but honestly in Generations and 4U he wasn't hard for me. He was more predictable, so I think he Is actually harder in Iceborne than in those two games
@@matt6821 yeah all of the most monsters had to be revised and made less predictable and stronger as, well WE are too strong. Regardless Barrioth has a special place in my heart due to how hard he was compared to Narga and Tigrex. It took my like 5 to 6 different hunts to beat him, compared to the first try death of his fellow monsters.
Well, in-universe, the Handler is well-liked and an important character who gets lots of character development. It's only non-Japanese players who are in denial about the Handler actually mattering :P
@@GunlessSnake from a lore perspective she's a brilliant character and essentially goes through character development instead of the hunter so that there is less risk of a disconnect between the player and the hunter. From a gameplay perspective, she's annoying and suicidal, and motivates us simply because we want her to shut up about how "it's us or Velkana".
If you think about it the handler is the only one that show the cat any real affection. We hunters just take them to kill big ass monsters and give them all the work to distract the monster as we heal up or when we faint. The only good thing we do is give them salami or what ever that is in the tent or after a fight and that's not very often.
@@thebenis3157 I know that. Part of the problem was that my stupid cat put the Taunt thing from the Shieldspire right in the entrance to Barioths nest. So pretty much the whole fight took place in that small corridor.^^

It’s going to sound weird but Barioth was always sort of my least favourite of the trio as well, but considering the other two have drastically different designs especially Tigrex, I actually really like Barioth in this game to the point it might be my favourite looks wise even with the throat pouch being much more pronounced now. Nice to see his eyes glow is unchanged too

@@conwaysquest6961 Plesioth doesnt even need to try in order to send you to the shadow realm. With just a wiggle of its hips, you are already half way across the map. Barioth on the other hand, needs to try in order to even have a slither of hope to match Plesioth's power, so Barioth adds a snap in his attack in order to please the Hipcheck God.
Viserys Nearly doesn't help when things distract you in real life, you haven't practiced in months and you use a slow weapon with a lower dps like Gunlance.
I actually struggled on Barioth, but Tigrex and Nagracuga wasn't an issue. I still may craft his dual blades just to have them, even though Velkana's are better.
What you want to do when fighting barioth is breaking both wing arms as soon as possible: he attacks less frequent and you have more damage oppurtunities
13:27 It is this exact reason why Barioth gave me PTSD in Tri... that and the fact that in Tri, he will dive bomb the hunter but they changed it in World:Iceborne where he rarely flies and only runs.
Oh, I can't wait for you two to get the Diablos/Glavenus turf war. It's truly beautiful. Also, slight tip for anyone new to Barioth: Concentrate on breaking the wings. It makes the fight slightly easier.
i keep waiting for Josh to learn to use the new great sword attack with slinger ammo and also upgrade his weapon cuz how can you continue with a high rank weapon lol
He's probably keeping the ROCKET POWERED GREATSWORD!!! for the Health Regen augment. And it's still doing decent damage. But yeah, he'll have to upgrade at some point if he wants to continue, especially if he wants to tango with his Brach Daddy...
I love the new Barioth, there's nothing wrong with him! It's totally faithful. Plus all his new attacks and mannerisms are awesome. However, they should've kept his entrance attack, where if you're there when he officially tries to "land" in a new area he just dunks on you from the top of the skybox. They also should've kept his wall jump attacks, even if Odogaron borrowed that gimmick. Now he just shoots at you or jumps behind you, which is alright but could be better.
Barioth looks really good in World's engine. It actually looks like an armored Smilodon with spikes and fur now. I'm actually really impressed with the fur detail on that. That is very nice.
This is one of only three monsters I wasn't able to slay the first time in this expansion, everything else I only died once or twice but since I play Lance the relentlessness of this monster made it almost impossible to solo x.x
My first hunt against Barioth, he ate my ass in its entirety. The second hunt, I actually found him really easy. I think it was only 1 faint. I just got lucky I think. But, when you can manage to soften a monster's face and go ham with the bow, it cleans up.
Don't let this distract you from the fact that there's STILL no wedge beetle on that one ledge in Wildspire

Barioth was the first Monster I had problems with in Iceborne. That things just jumps way to much.
