As a Roland user since the 80’s I remember when the wavestation came out, i was like- oh oh I hope Roland doesn’t see me, Im getting a Korg next. And I also got an M1 back then. Now Im still a Roland user but Im getting the Wavestate as I loved that wavestation but i sold it 14 years ago. This new synth looks way too much fun.
I have heard that they will start shipping to venders, any day now. Given a few weeks shipping to vender, then few more to me, I'm expecting mine to arrive middle of February. Arrival sooner will be a treat. Hard to wait for such an exciting new synth.
@@Jamslerr yeah I'd like to make patterns and combine stuff and play it back. Sounds like I would be having to record each part through an interface in my comp to make songs unless I'm wrong. Seems like a vst would be pro over the unit due to be able to arrange
@Andrew Chapman As I understand it, the 16 steps can be used to record different pitches, timbres, and other sound parameter changes. Times 4, because each of the four layers can have it's own sequence/motion. In a way, I think, more powerful.
Hi, the Argon8 sounds very weak to me, for some reason. The hydrasynth is interesting, from sound and design. But it has no piano or orchestral sounds. The wavestate has a good enough basic sound, 4 part multitimbrality and somewhat limited sound shaping compared to the other. But lively movement in sound can be had by morphing waves. Good effects.
@@Claidheambmor I'm so tempted with this Wavestate but I have all this old Kawai stuff like the K1 II keyboard with joystick and MM-16 mixer/controller/sysex-controller and q80 sequencer that I feel like I need to play around with first 😬🙃
full plastic design (case and knobs), only 3 octaves, long boot up time :( i'd happily pay more for it if only it had at least 4 octaves (or make a 5 octave keyboard and a desktop version separatelly) and be the same quality externally as the old Wavestation. well, i guess i'll have to wait for the v3.0
I want 1 or 2 more octaves as well, and an expression pedal input, but I preordered one anyway. Good size for a second keyboard, that can be used for leads, pads, and sound effects, while my primary keyboard does pianos, organs etc. Because of its relatively small size, I think of it as a module that just happens to have a little bit of keyboard attached. Because it is multitimbral (4), and the different layers can be played with different midi channels, using external midi, I can play some of the layers with my larger keyboard (that also has an expression pedal), and some with the Wavestation keyboard.
This thing sounds feckin gorgeous. I cannot wait to get one.

How do you record patterns/songs on the synth? I didnt see a rec/play button on there?
you don't, you sequence samples and single cycle waveforms that play through when you hit a key
I was wondering the same. That kind of seems like a simple thing they left out that would change it completely for the better.

@Andrew Chapman I think it has 16 steps of sound changes it can record, for each of the 4 layers, per patch.
Just add a keystep.
There's a latch feature or you could use a pedal.
